  tom green, the convicted polygamist in utah, is requesting (through his lawyers of course) that the supreme court overturn his convictions based both on the supreme court ruling on the texas sodomy law and the massachucetts supreme court ruling on gay marriage.. so begins the trip down the slippery slope.

  By the way...while I am on my soap box.

  I read a great editorial in the DallasMorning news a few days ago. It said that those that stand up and are trying to fight gay marriage because it undermines the sanctiy of marriage should also be standing up and fighting against divorce. Interestingly, a lot of politicians all bent out of shape about gay marriage has been divorced several times.

  I think divorce is a much bigger problem threatening the santitiy of marriage than gay marriage. Forgive me lack of spelling talent...I have the flu AGAIN, so I am a little off the ball...not that I ever could spell hahah

  The NH Supreme Court rulled a few weeks ago that if a married person has sex with someone that is the same sex, then it is not adultery, so not grounds for divorce.

  Now THAT pissed me off! I hope the gay rights advocates will speak up and fight that, because besides cheapening marriage vows, to me it cheaps gay relationships. So maybe they came help squash that while they are fighting for their own rights.

  As far as I am concerned allowing gays to marry just makes it so gay couples have to be acountable to each other. So if they are going to commit, they can get married, and have to live up to that commitment as if they were in a hetro marriage.

  Adultery makes me sick, as well does pediophilia....I don't think gay marriage will cheapen marriage..and it to view it along the same line as pologymy or bigamy is silly. I am all for marriage between two people....as long as the partners are consenting adults, I really dont care if they are gay or straight. And that Tom Green guy, correct me if I am wrong, but I believe at least one of his wives was a very young teenager...how could she have consent?

  THe problem with the ruling in Mass is that the courts there should have referred it to legislature. I don't think they really had the authority to make they ruling they did.

  hello everyyone!.

  this the first christmas that my husband and i actually have time to do stuff with our kids before christmas.

  i hope to help them make some ornaments for our tree, and hopefully make a few to send up to their grandparents for their tree.

  The congregation I was in, in NH...where the beautiful atlantic is ALWAYS cold, hahah...we had a ton of surfers.

  3 Jehovah's Witnesses Found Murdered

  in orange city, volusia county florida, 3 members of the negron family were found murdered in their home in a quiet neighborhood, unknown for any violence.

  they were active jws, even hosting meetings in their home.

  When I hear people refer to others, as those that dont even smoke or drink, it usually means they are squeaky clean.

  this is too bad, a sad tragedy. It was probably some freak relative or something...that usually seems to be the case.

  The Un-Christmas Gift

  i just received my annual un-christmas gift from my mom.

  it contained 2 dishtowels, an awake!, a watchtower, 2004 daily text, the book "worship the only true god", and a letter.

  the letter was the kicker, in it she directed me to an article she "really appreciated" in the awake!

  JW Prep Schools?!

  this thread mentions the existence of jw prep schools!

  can anyone enlighten me on this topic?

  they say they are not, I would doubt that the watchtower would ever sponsor one.

  It is just a homeschooling program, but tailored for the JW mind...there are hundreds of these organizations out there in general....American School, Oak Woods or Hill...a ton...(not for JWs...but just general homeschooling).

  you know JWs LOVE to home school. At lot of people are nowadays of course..I have known families both nonJW and JW that did a horrible job with it, and others, again both non and JW where it was the appropriate thing academically for their kids. There are some sh*ty schools in some parts of the country.

  Smyler.....I dont doubt the damage was that high...

  New England, especially the Boston area you need to get a mortgage on your kids just to afford a little apartment. I bet if that KH was down here in Texas, the damage would have been about half that. Housing and construction costs in general are through the stinking roof up there!

  This is a tough one...but I would have to say forward your number and see if she calls you.

  The reason is the nephew....if it were me I would want to know. And, while I think it is stupid that she is shunning you in this manner, I understand why she is. It is sad, but you have to decide if you can take talking to her on these terms.

  It's official... I've been shunned by my supervisor

  for a few weeks now i have wondered if my supervisor has been avoiding eating with me.

  sometimes i will go out for lunch with a few coworkers and my supervisor will always decline the invitation.. today i caught them leaving for lunch without me.

  i know it is unreasonable to expect to be invited with every single group that goes out... but when i looked at my supervisor while he was leaving he gave me the "deer in the headlights" look.

  I agree...this is something you need to keep an eye on.

  Lots of times JWs don't even realize they are breaking the law. I knew one brother that fired two of his painters when he heard they were gay....and of course some don't care.

  You should walk into his office, sit down with him and tell him that although you respect his religious beliefs, this shunning at the work place is putting you in a bad light at work. Hopefully your coworkers understand that he is being a boob, but there is no way that this is not going to reflect on you in a bad light if it is common practice. Be polite, be professional, but be clear that it is interfering with work.

  Definately keep note of this behaviour. He is wrong to do it, but may not realize that it is affecting you professionally and just not personally. He may appreciate the talk.
