Tell your Thanksgiving stories today.

today we celebrated our first thanksgiving, it was all i ever thought it should be.

the table was loaded with food and everyone excited because the smell of the turkey was all over the place this morning.

my daughter told us last night that she thinks we should tell what we all are grateful for as we sit to eat.

thanksgiving was fabulous!!

i drove about 5 hours to spend the day with my friend (sandy) and her family. they're such wonderful people. her dad was preparing us for drowsiness, as i arrived at their house and it was about 90 degrees in there. we then left for dinner at sandy's brother, steve's house. all together i think there were about 15-20 people. i got a little good-natured teasing for being an ex-jw and steve was going to make me say grace before our meal, but i told him jesus said it was all good, we didn't have to heehee. after dinner we ventured off to the casino in mahnomen, mn--about an hour's drive north. along the way, the back window of sandy's new car went down and we couldn't get it back up--thank god the boyscouts sell firewood at the gas stations. we jimmied the window up and kept on our journey to the casino. i gambled a little, but mostly sandy and i were drinking in the bar most of the night. especially after her mom hit a big jackpot and gave us more money--weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! we rounded out the holiday by rolling in the driveway about 4 am and getting up friday morning to hit walmart and the mall. what a wonderul time

My High School Reunion

i received and email a couple of weeks ago that there was going to be a sort of impromptu reunion the night after thanksgiving.

last year i got the same notice, but was out of town so i couldn't attend.

thought about it for awhile and decided i was going to make myself go this year.

i received and email a couple of weeks ago that there was going to be a sort of impromptu reunion the night after Thanksgiving. last year i got the same notice, but was out of town so i couldn't attend. thought about it for awhile and decided i was going to make myself go this year.

i was really nervous....the school where i went was small (for our area) and somewhat clicky--growing up a dub, i was pretty nerdy and didn't have many friends. my brother was thinking about going with me so that i didn't have to go alone, but ended up being too tired--so it was up to just me.

well.....i walked into the bar, ordered a beer, and looked around for people i recognized. started getting really nervous because i didn't really notice anyone. then i saw two people i graduated with, whom i know are married now. i walked over by them, smiled and waved--they saw me, said nothing, no smile. turned around, feeling like an idiot. figured i'd finish my beer and head out. just then i noticed some people on the other side of the bar--they looked vaguely familiar. one of them was a neighbor kid we grew up with. so i walked over and asked "is this our group?"--everyone was so great. they greeted with many smiles and hugs. needless to say, i had an absolute blast last night. there were so many people i haven't seen since graduation--we've all grown up ALOT. it was the most fun i've had in a long time.

just wanted to share it with all my friends here--i'm still smiling ear to ear this morning

just again wishing everyone a wonderful thanksgiving. may we all keep in mind how loved we are to spend such a day with friends and family. due to some recent events at work, this thanksgiving means so much more. to appreciate the simple things--to be thankful for my my family and friends that i love so dearly. (he was supposed to be helping grandma pick tomatoes and put them in the bucket--can you see the bite marks in the one he is "helping" with?).
