Avishai, that's horrible. So glad you're OK. I didn't know that our fearless leader (NOT) wants to rescind that law, but then again of course he does. There is way too much of that mentality out there. Near here in Sacramento area there's been an issue in the news - fanatic "Christian" students at a high school were wearing anti-gay tshirts. assholes flipper

Mr. Flipper here, my 22 year old son and I confronted the elders at a JC appeal meeting about this article and told them it was unjust to insist that the rank and file obey the elders even if the elders were doing something wrong against the governing bodies way of looking at things. We asked," Would you jump off a cliff if the elders told you to?". They said," It's not for us to discipline the elders if they go astray. Jehovah (biggest catch phrase in the universe) will take care of it in his due time and bring justice. We just have to obey and recognize His authority through the ( belch) elders." We said," That's ridiculous reasoning, crazy actually." But as ya all know it's like talking to somebody who has been put on a strong sedative or valium. They are there in body, but nobody is home upstairs if you know what I mean. All we can hope for is the rank and file develop minds and start thinking on their own and get out of this dangerous mind controlling cult. Thanks. Peace out.

Our Watchtower Study On obedience & submission
by dark angle inyesterday we have a study of the watchtower about obedience and submission.
this study arose a lot of questions and heightened emotions in me and the interested retired judge sitting besides me.
we came accross the 9th pharagraph, page 28 of the april 1, 2007, where it says that: "it is easy to obey when everything is clear and we agree, but we will show that we are trully submissive if we yeild even when we do not personally understand the direction provided.

Sf, Mr. Flipper here, in answer to your question (now that I'm recovering from Lawrence's comical thread) is my 22 year old son and myself confronted the elders about this watchtower at an appeal meeting for my dfing on false trumped up charges. My son was in the room as my witness to support me against 6 numbingly brain dead cloned elders. My motives were to let them know one of the reasons I've doubted this organization for so many years(4) while trying to fade peacefully, (not happening ). I told them that because of having been treated unjustly by elders in the past I had real doubts as to whether I could trust them now. You as many on this thread might have been proud of my son and I how we controlled the tempo of the meeting and made them listen to our reasons for the watchtower article being so unjust and unfair. My son had waited for years to tell them what he has learned in college and how they are a group of people who are told what they will believe and never allowed to do outside research to challenge their beliefs or confirm if what they believe is right. He told the elders ," this is all you know, it's the only vantage point you have, no others." Then one elder tried to chime in and say," We get different vantage points, we talk to many people at the door and listen to them". My son said," But it goes in one ear and out the other, you don't really listen. I know I used to do this." I was so proud of my son standing up to them. I haven't attended meetings in years, but wanted to let them know too how I feel ,if not for me, maybe if one of them ever has doubts it might make them think.Anyway my son and I got them so overwhelmed with this stuff they almost forgot why they were meeting with me. After 2 hours they said they couldn't come to a decision , they'd let me know in a couple of weeks.Hope I answered your questions Sf, if it helps anybody get out then great, but we wanted to get our voice heard to these elders. Mr. Flipper

Lawrence, I thought I was going to soil my computer in trying to forget song #69. I'm still trying to forget Song # 10 From House to House. These damn songs are ingrained in our conciousness from youth. Thank you very much for bringing that memory up. Just what I needed getting up from my afternoon nap. I'd much rather be humming , " Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin or some real classic with substance. Just teasin' ya. LOL.

SF, that was nice. I just now spotted Mr f's post and then yours. Yeah, he's got a justice streak that just won't quit, and he's a talker - expresses himself really well. His 22-yr old son is a lot like him, now a college student who investigates EVERYTHING. He went to the meeting with mr f - the elders had a handful. I think they were both pretty assertive but kept calm. The elders were dumbfounded a few times. I suppose they'll still df him, but dad and son wanted to get their licks in. flipper

They laid that latest WT submitting stuff on Mr f in a JC appeal - 6 adult men were serious as a heart attack, didn't seem to question that in the least. I think they were trying to get him to accept all the stupid things they've done through the df thing. Mr f told them that it's totally crazy.

JWD support and comfort for those in need
by restrangled ini don't know how you feel but i am pleased to be part of a community that cares about fellow members.
although we may not know individuals in person, we get a "sense" of many of our fellow posters especially if we have been here for any length of time.. several of our fellow posters have experienced terrible tragedies that result in financial nightmares.
i don't know how all of you feel, but i would rather give directly to someone in need than through a charity.

Dark Angle, Mr. Flipper here. I had the opportunity to confront some elders on this article yesterday. Especially on the point late in the article where it says essentially what if the elders aren't in harmony or carrying out what the governing body says? Does that give reason for some to show insubordination to the elders? The article said witnesses should still obey and the biggest catch phrase on earth, ( leave it in Jehovahs hands and in time he will take care of it, show respect for Him and still obey.) I told the elders this was ridiculous counsel, and that God wants us to use our free will and concsience to make decisions. If the elders told you to jump off a cliff would you, I asked? Then I thought privately to myself, " God I hope these brainwashed elders do jump off a cliff" how evil of me!!!! LOL

The Whole JW Judicial System Is Flawed!
by minimus ini'll tell you why i think so.. your opinions on this subject are welcomed.. nothing in the bible shows a set-up like the one the christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses uses.
where in the bible is a "judicial committee" ever mentioned??
or "chairman of the committee"?
-
flipper
yeah, it's a little flawed, allright.... they will relentlessly hound someone for "fornication" because it's very important, and they need to to keep their congregations "clean," (yuck) but it's best to let the matter of child molestation "wait on Jehovah". Check out the responses of some witnesses since this latest scandal. "It's ok, Jehovah will get his vengeance on those molesters" So now anyone who gets called to a judicial committee can just tell the elders that - "Oh, you guys don't have to worry about having a jc, Jehovah will get me eventually" flipper
