Most of us here have felt like you at one time or another. It does not help but it is nice to know you are in good company.

Bad dreams in the night.
They told me I was going to lose the fight,
Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights.
So sang Kate Bush!
Occassionally, I have nightmares - generally about being on a sinking ship or being lost in the desert, that sort of thing. Suprising really, as my life is pretty safe most of the time.
Sometimes, I have nightmares about leaving the truth! Is this normal???

BluesBrother sums it up for me. That's why we worked so hard for the organisation, many of us for very many years.

Can JWs donate to the Red Cross?
by marsal in.
i do remember that as a jw, i was not allowed to donate to the salvation army because technically it is a church, but i don't remember anything about the red cross.. if jws are not allowed to do so, why not?
as far as i know, the red cross is not a faith-based organization.. marianne

I am sure officially this would be a 'conscience matter'.
But as with everything with the JWs, there is a unofficial line that Jws should only be donating to the World-Wide fund.

help! what does a jw say to the elders about DOUBTS?
by Cordelia inmy friend has been struggling in the 'truth' for a while, she was never really a model jw and since ive been dfed and her little sister was abused shes wanted to leave but cant seem to find the way to do it.
so she rung me today and told me she is meeting with the elders (two i think) as she has told them she has questions and wants answers.. i think her overall hope is that they dont answer her questions and she finds the strength to leave!
(she says sometimes shed like them to df her but i think thats just coz she wants to go so much!.

You have to remember elders are trained only in the JW approach to problems, i.e. that everything can be solved by meetings, field ministry and prayer.
Those of us who were elders know that in 'shepherding' situations it would not have been the 'done thing' to express one's own uncertainities, let alone doubts over the Bible or the Society's dogma. This would have been considered discouraging not upbuilding as shepherding is supposed to be.
However, I now believe that there is great merit in expressing our own doubts and uncertainities. Rather than putting people off religion, such an approach helps individuals in their own private search for spirituality and inner peace.

Did Jesus look like a 1950's IBM office worker?

Even when I was a JW elder I used to comment that the JWs views were more based on a white, middle-class, conservative, right-wing view of the world. Guess that is one of the reasons I left - I am a liberal left-winger myself - could never see the reason behind ban on beards, etc.

To add to Blondie's comments. The Questions from Readers Aug 1 2005 again addresses the question of 'probably' at Zephaniah 2:3. Quote:
Preservation will depend on an individual's continuing to seek meekness and righteouness
