WingCommander
I think I know where you are coming - I have been there myself.
The only advice I have is take it easy, one step at a time is still a struggle for us x-JWs.

Voting at meetings
by wozadummy inyears ago when i went to meetings there were announcements made about use of money ,whether to redecorate halls, send money to the society etc.
and i used to vote like everyone else looking around to see if there were any detractors.
well one day i had thought about the procedure and came up with this:.

Yes - what a sham these voting procedures are.
I can't remember the times I told those in our congregation how to go about actually holding the vote but they still insisted on reading the resolution, putting it to the vote and then asking for a proposer and a seconder. They really had no idea.

Overheard at Special Assembly Day
by under_believer inat our "special assembly day," they interviewed an elderly "sister" in her 70's.
she is the wife of a longtime circuit overseer who is of a similar age, but in very poor health.
a couple years ago he retired into our circuit and is being entirely supported by contributions from people in our circuit, living in one of those connected-to-the-kh apartment arrangements.

This interview is oft repeated at assemblies throughout the JW world.
It is so easy to make unsubstantiated statements that the rank and file never even stop to question. The truth is that althought it is true that probably everyone in the world struggles with some problem or another, these have nothing to do with living in the time of the end and certainly the good news is being preached to anywhere near all the people in the world so that they could put 2 and 2 together and realise that their problems are due to being in the time of the end. -

Would a Father really destroy His children for disobeying and arrogance?
by Judas I. ineven go so far as to torment them forever?
how could that ever be justified?.
would that be also admitting failure as a father by resorting to that?.

In a word - No.
It does lead on to another concept though. If we still believe there is a God, do we then believe in universal salvation; the doctrine that eventually all will come to know God's love and be saved. -

strange prayers!!!

I have come to think that witness prayers are strange.
I have notice that some used the name Jehovah at the start of every sentence!
Also, could never quite understand why in public prayers forgiveness for our sins was mentioned so often, surely this is a personal matter. And finally the thing that got my goat the most, praying for our brothers and sisters undergoing presecution, as if God does not want to know about the millions of people worldwide who look to him for guidance. What an arrogant lot they are (we were?). -

Are JWs Discouraged From Seeing The Da Vinci Code?
by Seeker4 inin another post on the da vince code, it starts by saying that the wts doesn't want the witnesses to see that movie.
does anyone know if this is true?
where has it been stated?

My wife is still very active as a JW and still wants to see the Da Vinci code so guess nothing has been said about it.

by proandcon in.
can anyone guess what this is a"thrilling" book is about.....the end is "here" (tm)...so be good so you can make it to the other side of armageddon per the wt, maybe...all the bs that fits in 192 pages...a copy and paste job for sure.... proandcon

I am sure that I can get a copy as soon as it is released.
Will be interesting reading, I wonder what proof they will give for the idea that we are living close to 'Jehovah's Day'. Most of the recent publications have very poor on proof, making statements such as 'Bible chronology proves', then never backing up with any proof.
My guess is that it will be a book of generalizations and waffle. -

Has the Society run dry?
by What-A-Coincidence inseems like the mags, the km's, the books are all recycled information from the 1980's.. seems like they thought the end would come in the late 80's based on all the armageddon articles (i seem to remember lots of those in those years).. once we hit the 90's, the some ol recycled information, it's like groundhog day.
seems like the wt writers are cuttin and pastin.
why doesn't jehovah bless his people with the greatest writers of all time for the biggest event of all time?

A definite YES.
The world has change beyond all recognition in the last 50 years but they have never addressed any of the real issues. -
