It is a problem that I discussed with other elders when I was an elder. The problem with blood fractions is that often individual fractions have to be extracted from multiple donations. So for example if you decide to take factor 8 for hemophilia, then that product may have come from hundreds of individual donations, which is why many hemophiliacs developed AIDS in the 1980s. So in my mind the ‘pollution factor’ of accepting blood is far worse if you accept a fraction than if you were to accept a couple of pints of whole blood. Also, another thing that elders cannot answer is; why if I can accept a blood fraction in all good conscience, is it not totally selfish if I cannot donate blood in return? The official answer here is that if you donate blood, you cannot dictate what it is used for. The bottom line is that the whole blood fraction thing is a total mess. Eyeslice

HOW can a Jdub accept BLOOD FRACTIONS?? hmm?
by martinwellborne ini thought the main thing with the blood issue was that it was to be viewed from god's point of view.
not that it would be up to individual choice and conscience.
my point that i am trying to get to is this, how can a jdub accept blood fractions if they want to view blood in the same light as god would.. am i making this clear?

My guess is Gordon will be thinking, "my God how did that fool get to be leader of the world's most powerful nation?"

Did feel that you were at a mental breaking point at the point of leaving?
by jambon1 inprior to you leaving the org did you come to the conclusion that if you didnt actually take the step and leave, that you would run into serious mental difficulty.. i really feel that for 5 years proir to my finally leaving i was quite impaired mentally by the teachings and practices of the org.
it was coming to a head though when i finally announced that i was leaving.
i really felt that i was under intense mental pressure and that if i didnt get out then i may end up doing something serious.

Yes!
I got to the point where I was coming home from the Sunday morning meeting and going straight to bed to sleep off what had got me so tense and stressed out. Only looking back do I realise how close I was to cracking up completely. I had always been 'at the center' of congregation, involved in all aspects, elder, on the building committee. Then suddenly treated by dirt in a congregation that had been my life for years.

It is simply not true to say that the goodnews has been preached in all the earth. True there may be only 3 countries with no witness living there but India, China and Pakistan are examples of countries where there are witnesses but the penetration of witnessing must be virtually non-existent.

Dulce et Decorum est Pro patria mori - it is a sweet and proper thing to die for ones country - what a lie!
Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares 2 we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest 3 began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots 4
Of tired, outstripped 5 Five-Nines 6 that dropped behind.Gas! 7 Gas! Quick, boys! – An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets 8 just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling,
And flound'ring like a man in fire or lime 9 . . .
Dim, through the misty panes 10 and thick green light,
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.
In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, 11 choking, drowning.If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud 12
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest 13
To children ardent 14 for some desperate glory,
The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est
Pro patria mori. 15 -

This is such a hard question! I love your all your choices.
Mine? Perhaps Rachmaninov's variations on a theme from Paganini and Rimsky-Korsakov's Sheherazade.

Any active dub disappointment 'bout lack of persecution from the CRAP TRACT
by Kudra inyou know, they were all riled up and saying that the tract would precipitate armageddon and all.
have any of them even noticed that no one batted an eye in response to the "campaign"?
isn't the tract-work supposed to be over now?
-
eyeslice
I think tract campaigns are as much about 'geeing' up the R&F as attracting interest from outsiders.
The problem is that there is very little today that fires the imagine of the average JW. Whatever it is, been there, done it and much as before. -

Me? By definition a fader.
