No - I don't think most JWs read it regularly.
The meetings are the places that the WTB&TS's doctrines are indoctrinated.

Saturday District Convention notes: Don't research JW's online!!!!
by truthseeker inwith two thirds of my sentence complete, i am almost ready for parole.. there was some unbelievable stuff said today - i think there must be some sort of hallucinogenic gas coming through the ac, because no one batted an eyelid over what was said from the platform.. as usual, i will highlight the main talks.. .
saturday.
"deliver us from the wicked one and from every sort of lawlessness" - matt 6:13, titus 2:14. .

When I was 'in' I often used the illustration "all the darkness in the universe cannot overcome the light of a single candle". Seems when it comes to the internet, the light of the truth does not shine bright enough.

Isn't a "half glass of water" better than no water at all?
by JH inwhy is it that if you don't go to any meetings anymore since a while and you're inactive, the elders wont bother you, but if you continuously go to half of your meetings, the elders wont be satisfied and will be a pain in the as*?.
i wonder what an elder would say if a jw would say, "i like going to only half the meetings".
more than that i get tired and i lose my joy....

Think the elders take the view that "add a glass of champagne to a barrel of sewage you get a barrel of sewage; add a glass of sewage to a barrel of champagne you still get a barrel of sewage". In my experience the elders are always slightly wary of those who have 'fallen away'; perhaps they see us as sewage!
When I stopped going, I got one or two visits then nothing. If the elders ever call on me again, I will ask them why they have spent 10 hours per month in field ministry (we all know they all do their duty!) for the last 3 years but have never made 10 minutes for one they once claimed to have loved as a brother.

July 15 2006 WT - Uncleanness - disfellowshp?- details
by BluesBrother in.
hope the scans show up ok.. the article is presented as it comes, for your own assessment.
you could not make this stuff up!

Hi BluesBrother,
Read the article myself the other day.
What on earth are they talking about - "nor is it a case of deciding mathematically...."?? What a load of rubbish - these guys can't even write a decent, well put together paragraph!
What the article does show is that the WTB&TS still love to spell out in minute detail what they consider to be right and wrong. So nuch for not going beyond the things written.
Worst thing is, elders will be digging out this article and looking at the 'letter of the WTB&TS law' before judicial hearings. They rarely see the real person on these occassions; only what the Watchtower says.

Young witness disfellowshipped for having a mental illness
by What-A-Coincidence inthis is was very hard swallow.
i know of a family who has suffered tremendously when their son (15) came down with a mental illness - he cuts himself, has intended suicide 5 times.
he hard a hard time dealing with so many issues that he at one point told the elders i don't want to have anything to do with the jehovah's.

Hi What-A-Coincidence,
How long ago did this incident take place? I was under the impression that they were taking an softer line on mental illness nowadays.

Hi Fe2O3Girl
You are quite right of course - the concept behind the book is that the people you meet have something to teach you - you might not have even met them in your live.
Loved your reply and your choices - if only we could live out these dreams.

Young JWs..damned if they do and damned if they don't!!!!!
by Gill inthe july 1st watchtower is one that i'm sorely tempted to kick into oblivion....yes it irritated me greatly.....mind control at its bluntest!.
young jws are being encouraged to stop dilly dallying around and get dunked!!!!.
'....why would you put off getting baptized?.
-
eyeslice
No where you're coming from.
I've known unbaptised kids of elders go off the rails but not much can be done because they have not been baptised. On the other hand seen baptised youngster kicked out of homes for the very same 'crimes'. It never struck me as fair even when I was in.

Let cut JWs some slack on Christ's status. They might be right.
by Spectrum inthe alternative light i have received regarding early christianity has made me wonder whether jws have unwittingly got it right regarding the status of jesus.
a lot of strong criticism is made on this forum about jws sidelining of jesus in preference for jehovah the jewish god.
they have been equated with judaism because of their lack of inclusion of christ in their worship as well as their draconian code of expected conduct.

I can see this quickly becoming yet another trinty thread.
