So....do any of you believe in some person in the sky floating around called Jesus? Or having a relationship with that person (or God) who is in some other DIMENSION apparantlY? Being a Witness, they stressed so much having a relationship with "Jehovah" and all that. Do you believe there is a Jehovah? Or a JEsus up there?

Why not just leave religion alone altogether?
by dawg ini was wondering why many of you turn to to other religions after being freed from the foolishness of the jw's?
after i relieved myself of the burden of the foolish witnesses, i was able to understand god in my own fashion and i've never felt better.
many religions pratice mind control similar to the wittnesses so why not free yourselves from all of them?

that's what i'm doing. I don't believe the Bible anymore-still not sure about GOd. Witnesses are crazy-and so is all other religions.

I just wanted to tell everyone on this site "Thank You" for all the support
by themonster123 inhello fellow jwd people....i just wanted to tell everyone "thank you" for everything on here-it has been extremely helpful for my brain to realize (i hope!!
) i'm doing the right thing to not be a witness anymore....as some of you may or may not know, i stoppped being a witness about 3 months ago.... it's a weird thing to not go to meetings anymroe/service/have only witness friends/think the end is coming and....soon.
i only left b/c of intellectual reasons, so reading everyone's posts on various subjects and whatnot has been a huge help to help dispell some of the witness "truths" that i thought were true since i was 1 year old..... and, on another random note, my profile pic is actually a pic of a duck at bethel!!!

Jehovah's Rocking the Nations?
by 5thGeneration inhow long can the society keep insisting that the preaching work is so successful when there is virtually zero (alright 1.5%) growth?.
interestingly, the society has excluded the percent gain/loss column online.

That's a bloody good point, mate...When they use scriptures like that, you kind of don't even think through the details-cuz you're just blinded by the scripture-but, with a 1.5% growth rate or whatever....you're right-no one's rocking anything.

Jehovah's Witnesses and Myspace
by tsunami_rid3r ini haven't been to a meeting in ages.
whats the rules on getting on myspace?

But, hey let me break it down for you why you're off the Witness list!
1)you have some picture of some multi-armed pagan god thing
2)yeah, what the other person said-hookah
3) you said "goddamn" in one of your pictures
4)you have a picture of a rated R movie you like (vanilla sky)
5)you have a tattoo ( a really cool one at that :)
and of course.....
6)you live in texas...... just kidding.
OH YEah....and you go to college!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, as me having left a few months ago....I can fill y'all in on Myspace!! IT'S TOTALLY CONDEMNED. Which is okay and makes sense if you're a witness cuz you wouldn't want extra association with Non-Witnesses, just as you wouldn't in real life-the logistics of it make sense IF YOU'RE A WITNESS, you gotta stay away from non-witnesses, and clearly, it would be hard to do that on Myspace with all the "friends requests" and all....
But at my last assembly, (not convention, assembly), Myspace was mentioned specifically for all Christians to get off it. Subsequently at my hall, there were about 4 talks that mentioned it (usu. had to do with the talks on youth and whatnot) to STAY OFF IT.
They called it a "Glorified chatroom." So, basically any Witnesses who are on it right now really shouldn't be on it. They know they shouldn't be on it, but if they are, shame on them. hehe. If they are, then they're most def. not a "strong Witness," cuz Myspace is basically Satan's chatroom.

JWs and the weird way they say Happy Birthday
by reneeisorym inyou who don't know -- i'm daed but my mother still sends me very short e-mail about every two months.. this morning she sent me an email that said:.
25 today.
it would be sooooo wrong for someone to say -- "happy birthday" .. but its fine to mention that i am 25 today.
-
themonster123
WELL, the Reasoning Book aptly asks us: "Do Bible references to birthday celebrations put them in a favorable light? The Bible makes only two references to such celebrations..." But John the Baptist's head was cut off and on another occasion, "the chief of the bakers was hung up." So OBVIOUSLY, "God's word reports unfavorably about birthday celebrations and so we need to shun them."
You shouldn't celebrate your birthday....I mean, you might get murdered and everything, according to the *Reasoning Book.* You wouldn't want that, would you?
Anyway, HAPPY B-DAY!

For you "sisters" who married in the "Truth"...
by Frequent_Fader_Miles injust a poll question.
at the first convention/ assembly following your wedding ... did you parade around the convention site gloating in other sisters' faces, showing off your new husband?
i've never done it, but i can't help but suspect that others do.

themonster123
would that be bad if they did? Marriage is a good thing!

Is the end really coming?
by themonster123 inwell, as anyone on this board knows i"m a newbie....and witnesses kind of are scaring me with their "end is coming" business.
basically, cuz of three things:.
1) the last convention was called "jehovah's day at hand!

Well, as anyone on this board knows I"m a newbie....and Witnesses kind of are scaring me with their "end is coming" business. Basically, cuz of three things:
1) The last convention was called "Jehovah's Day At Hand!" (or whatever the tract we put out about that was called-where we invited everyone to the assembly2) the very last tract we put out "False Religion's End is Near!"
3) Studying the Revelation book now in bookstudy (Not me personally, i don't go anymore-but that's what they're studying in bookstudy now)
SO!..... It seems like everything is getting so concentrated, like the Society is... getting ready? Also, the way EVERYONE and all my friends and stuff were/are talking, like, "You can just feel we're SO close to the end. I mean, the SOciety is totally getting ready." And in all the recent talks, they keep saying stuff like, "We're not in the time of the end, we're in the last SECOND of the time of the end." Why is all their tlaking about the time of the end getting so concentrated? For those who have been in or left the org. for many many years, can you clue me in-has
"the end" always been so talked about like it is now? or is it just in their heads?
