how'd you get out?
Switched congregations. Told the new elders that they would not see me much and pretty much did a complete fade. I mail in my bogus service report every month for geo-political reasons. That keeps them quiet. My family is still on it and we are slowly giving everyone time to adjust to our new found freedom without the apostate label. This way the brainwashed relatives won't completely freak out.

I've spoken with some individuals who are livid that the School/Service meeting are not shortened. They say we don't need the Sunday meeting cut, what about those long Thursday nights and the kids having school the next day. What about the people who have to work, no real logic or consideration.

Either the 144,000 is a literal number or not. The J-Dubs can't have it both ways. Mathematically that number was reached long ago using the JW calculus.

i was just reading the thread about barbara anderson and perhaps some big news she will publish about the wts.
i agree with those who say that anything barbara has scandalous about the early history of the witnesses, ie: russel or rutherford times, will have zero impact.
that whole era is pretty much dismissed by all witnesses i know.
For years in my hometown, growth has been stagnant. No young, no middle class, no educated people. The elders are getting old. My brother and I were the heirs apparent there and we are since long gone.
The J-Dubs are odd ball uneducated misfits.

so, when i was little, there was this guy i used to hang around with.
he was like an older brother to me.
in fact, 8 years my senior, he might as well have been.. his mom and my mom were best friends.
Good memories happen and that's a good thing. Some days out in service near the river and in the country was so pleasant. We had some really cool guys back then. Many of them understood the deal and left soon after turning 18.

When I was in Brooklyn Bethel in the 90's a buddy of mine worked in the service department. He lasted a couple of years before he went crazy. I heard dealing with so many problems pushed him over the edge. Now he'll see me and walk right by with a giant loopy grin on his face, won't even speak. We were in the same congregation for 5 years.

I agree with Dagney. On the cover Jesus looks like Sufer Dan from Orange County. C' mon. I've traveled to Jerusalem and the only white people are the ones that moved in.
If I see another white Jesus, Moses, Noah, Daniel, Peter, Abraham, Isaac or any other bible character, I might lose it. I love my white brothers but do realize how dark the biblical Jews were.

when i was a jdub, there were many talks given to guard against those in the "congregation" who may be leading a double life.
people who are not jdubs can also lead double lives as anyone reading the evening news can attest to: shocking deception even criminal acts done by someone who appeared to be a trusted member of the community.
how do you deal with these potential deceivers in your own life?
The J-Dubs are so uptight about everything. The double life that they refer to is a life everyone else would call normal. Not the double life--ax murderer--school teacher by day villian you see on the nightly news.
