Logical, of course: to give them statutes that were not good so they know he is the lord? That just blows my mind.

Isaiah 34

Sacrifices with unicorns coming down to them? I thought they were extinct before the flood.

Moses remembers the name of servants, but not the name of the king.

He had condemned to slavery in Egypt before but pretends not to know it.

Exodus 3: 13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

So Moses did not know who he was, then he tells the elders, then his name is not pronounced for milenia, now the JWs call him Jehovah, not I am that I am. Must be a different god.

19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.
20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do in the midst thereof: and after that he will let you go.

A planned torture and murder from a god that is infinite love.

These are only the first three chapters, and I could not believe this b*ll unless I was brainwashed by a cult.

It is what really pisses me off about fundamentalist Islam and the WTBTS -- they in effect ignore or worse the contirbution of 50% of the worlds population - women. They deny the world the graeter good and hence civilization as a whole, the contribution of women -- how backward, stoneage and sick - total vomit alert

The irony of all of this is that women inherit their genes 50% from the father and 50% from their mother. Men on the other hand inherit most of their genes from their mother due to the Y chromosome missing one fourth of our genes. Take a look at an X and a Y. You'll see the missing fourth. Women will express sex linked illnesses at only half the ratio of men.

Even in general illnesses not related to genes, (or maybe they are somehow?) Men are more likely to die from any illnesses that affects both sexes except whooping cough and gonococcal infections. We are biologically, at least, the weaker sex.

How can anyone think that women are inferior when they come from our genes? How can any human being condemn his own flesh to subservence? I don't know. I think centuries of male-dominated religions took their toll.

By the way, women are not 50% of the general population. There are more women alive than men, although more men are born than women.

I'll take science over religion any time.

Barak was too sissy to go on his own - he needed a lady with him to 'hold his hand.' Awww. So Debbie said, "I'll come with you, but Jehovah is going to get a woman to do your dirty work for you, because you are so lily-livered."

And Jehovah cannot do it on his own. He must have his murdering done for him, wheather man or woman.

One way is seen in an ancient example. When Jephthah's daughter (always the same example) relinquished her opportunity to have a husband, the people realized that she was making a sacrifice. What was done to encourage her? "From year to year the daughters of Israel would go to give commendation to the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite, four days in the year." (Judges 11 :30-40)

What the watchtower says is not true.

I get upset when I see how different people translate the bible according to their preconceived ideas. There is a lot of difference between commemorate, mourn, lament, weeping, and celebrate,

But the translations (interpretations, I should say) that I truly despise are Youngs Literal Translation, talk to, and NWT, give commendation. These two give the idea that Jephthah?s daughter was still alive.

No such thing. According to verse 11, Jephthah had promised a BURNT OFFERING. V. 39 says that he fulfilled his promise to his god of war, Jehovah.

That leaves no doubt.

JEPHTHTAH MURDERED AND BURNT HIS DAUGHTER AS A SACRIFICE.

No different than the pagans who burned their children in honor of Moloch.

As for VD. I wouldn't be surprised if they had as much VD as the general population. You don't become inmune if you join the borg.

He probably gets bored and wants to start an action drama, just like he changed Pharaoh's heart so that he would not send the Israelites to the desert, so that he could watch his angels kill all first-born in Egypt.

I notice that he despises first-born children. Maybe his brother Baal was older and kicked his ass when both of them were younger.

The site infidels.org had an article on baptism by Kersey Graves http://www.infidels.org/library/historical/kersey_graves/16/chap26.shtml which, by the way, Infidels warns the readers that he is not too scholarly. But IMO he has many interesting things. He claims that

?baptism by water was a very old rite, being practiced by the followers of Zoroaster, by the Romans, the Egyptians, and other nations." It was also in vogue among the ancient Hindoos at a still earlier date. ?The ancient Mexicans, Persians, Hindoos and Jews were in the habit of baptizing their infants soon after they were born.

It also talks about how people were baptized in certain bodies of water, such as the Ganges, Nile, Euphrates, Lustral, Po, and the Jordan. He asks:

If Jordan was not called "holy," it was undoubtedly considered so, else why did Elisha order Naaman to wash seven times in that stream instead of Damascus, which was much nearer and more accessible? And why was Christ baptized in Jordan?... Why, as several streams were handier to a large portion of the candidates...

Yes, I knew about other demigods being baptized. My point was that Jesus was baptized in the sense that it was a ritual that has a connotation of an initiation and a forgiveness of sins. While Jewish women?s bath was ritualistic, it was actually not a part of an initiation. Roman and Mexican children?s baptism was to ward off evil spirits, but not an initiation. Baptism in India was for done with the forgiveness of sins in mind, and was done late in life, preferably near death; but sometimes the people died before they could be baptized, and that is when the baptism of the dead originated. The baptism by sprinkling of water took place when they noticed that very old and babies died after maybe being sick, and being dunked in cold water.

My point was that this is something we can confront the JWs with, when they start saying that they do not follow pagan customs. Once-in-a-lifetime immersion in water for a ritualistic initiation is, IMO, a clear pagan practice. They have no biblical based ? support for it.

Many questions arise. Was John a follower of a follower? This would make Jesus a follower of a cult that did not adhere to the OT.

I know they call it "dedication", but anyone can see it was a baptism.

Mark 1:4 And so John came, baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

If they follow a pagan custom, how come they call just about everything a pagan custom? They initiate their lives as JWs with a pagan custom.
