The latest on intelligence comes from Dr. Gardner. You can see a brief description on http://www.partnerstx.org/PC_seven.html He classifies intelligence as having seven components: linguistic or verbal, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, body-kinesthetic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal.

Gardner based his list on findings from neurology, developmental and cognitive psychology, and anthropology. He argued that these intelligences can be shown to be localized in the brain; that they are exhibited in extreme form by idiots savants, prodigies and geniuses; that they have a clear developmental history; and that they are used in the performance of roles that cultures value around the world. In the book's final section, Gardner explored the educational implications of the theory, suggesting ways the intelligences can be exploited and fostered.

Those who hold that intelligence is a single, general ability and those who say it consists of many factors have engaged in a long-standing, bitter debate (although even those who believe in general intelligence say there are many subordinate cognitive abilities).

Any educator or educational administrator worth its salt will tell you that the single best predictors in academic performance are if a child has a nutritious breakfast, and his/her socioeconomic level. The IQ tests are used for prediction of academic performance, and vary from child to child and change over time. As you may note, breakfast is also tied to socioeconomic level. Blacks were limited to low-paying jobs or slavery for a long time. They still have the lowest paying jobs.

Cultural and gender biases in the design also enter into the picture.

It has been established that females have higher ability in verbal intelligence and males in spatial ability. To have the test leaning towards either verbal or spatial abilities would surely change the outcome.

I would be surprised if the same difference in IQ points applies to England or in countries who have effectively abolished slavery in the last 200 years.

I read somewhere that JWs are slightly above the norm in IQ points, but they attribute this to the amount of reading they do. Yet, how smart can you be if you join and stay in a destructive sect, like we did? I also read that they have seven to twelve times more cases of schizophrenia, paranoid schizophrenia, and neurosis than the general population, but they don't know if people with those mental illnesses had them before they joined the cult, or the cult caused them to develop the illnesses.

A simple search on the web gave me this results, but were not in the original research I did before writing the paragraph I am reading.

Don't buy into Ray Franz's stumbling block.

1- Would you want him not to make money? If he is making money, it proves his book is selling and being recommended to others. he wrote the book to take people from bad ideas.

2- I recall certain magazine writing for years that the system of things would end with the generation of 1914, which proved to be another shutting of a long chain of lights on, and off. My brainwashed brother even admitted to me to the 1975 fiasco.

3- I was always curious on this one: How does big j provide ideas? Is it in dreams? Does do lunch with the geriatrics on pampers? Does he vote on the board? Is the gb filled with spirits after drinking alcohol spirits? If J's worship is free, how come they want contributions, and don't let others express their thoughts without being DF, unless the board approves the change? If they have true bible understanding, How come they switch their minds so much?

A Cult would not let anybody out of the orginization. Many people are disfellowshiped for doing wrong. Ethics and Morals are GOOD. Gothics and Satan worshipers are far worse, make a book about them for once.

Where did you learn about cults? I bet your only source of information comes from the Witchtower Babble and Trick Corp. They usually disfellowship them. You can check with your local library, you know, the place where you can read books for which you don't have to leave a donation? By the way, you can ask your local librarian to get it for you if you think it is not worth $20 dollars to free you from an organization on which you have spent way more money and time. Hey, think of it as the money you would make at minimum wage by not going to two meetings.

4)The book costs money and not a donation. How are all of Jehovah's Witnesses going to react when they have to spend hard earned cash for a small publication from a guy that has too much time on his hands?

Don't leave "donations" after getting your books, and see if you are resupplied. Watchtower uses the equivalent of slave labor, which is the costliest part of producing a book, but they expect you to pay full price on your "donation".

Fact %5! Ray Franz's book is just another attempt to take the "eyes off the prize". Trying to criticize a good Organization is hard to do. It will only give ExJW's more reason to think that they are right. So they can carry on with doing whatever they want, be it strip poker or dressing up in womens clothing.

Hey, at least strip poker is more fun than going to meetings, and as my experience in the Kingdum hell, I saw over half the congregation dressed in women's clothes.

Funny, I was thinking the same about JWs. They should experience life before, during, and after the organization.

If it is a JW involved it goes on the front page of the paper. If it comes from the gay priests then it is old news.

Sure, they can leave, but their families and friends will be forbidden to talk to them. They can come in after everyone, and leave before the indoctrination ends. This is not come and go as you please.

almost twenty years ago jim penton mentioned that the wts was losing its brightest and best members in far greater percentages than its not-so-brightest and not-so-best .

this malaise was jump-started with rutherford's attack on "higher education" and in recent years has backfired on the society.

the wts has promoted low-tech education and employment in a high-tech world and is reaping the very whirlwind it has created.. most recently we've seen another whirlwind the society has created: it is hunting down and executing its best examples of caring, concerned christians: people like joe and barbara anderson, bill bowen and a whole host of unnamed others who are trying to be exemplary christians, even if it means standing up to the unchristian policies and doctrines of the watchtower.. successful watchtower recruits are unlikely to be educated people simply because in the pre-indoctrination process, educated people are likely to spot the doctrinal inconsistencies, the fallacious reasoning and the double-standards that are a part of watchtower life.
