When my wife passed away, the funeral was held at my son's house. Each family member stood-up and shared their experiences about their mom. My grand-daughter wrote a beautiful letter and it was printed in the local newspaper. To this day, I have a plaque hanging in my office with my wife's picture and my grand-daughter's letter. Her wish was to be cremated. Her ashes lie in her father's grave.

Well I finally resigned as an elder - Phew.
by The Scotsman inthats right, about 2 weeks ago i confronted the po and told him i just could not do it anymore.. i genuinely have been under alot of pressure recently with my work so i used this as the pitch.
he was not happy but i received little resistance, which suited me.
i handed him my letter last week before i went on holiday.. i have to say it is a great weight off my shoulders, no book study, meetings for ministry, talks, public talks etc etc.. i will no doubt be the subject of local congregation gossip!

Why was I so blind?
by James Free innow that i can see right through the crap that is the jw religion, i sometimes ask myself - how come you blindly believed all that rubbish for 30 years??!!
i am so annoyed with myself for that - i have a degree, yet i was totally duped for such a large part of my life.
and now that i can see how so full of holes it all is, i kick myself for not seeing it before.

In professional sports, if you want to be a loser, keep dwelling on the negatives.

STOP THE MADNESS....where is this board going?
by SnakesInTheTower ini've only posted since feb 07..but i have lurked for several years prior and there was usually something interesting on the board.
as i was reading the active topics list this morning, only a couple things jumped out at me as interesting...its been this way since the dgate and tgate incidents.... i was discussing this with a long time poster via im yesterday....does it seem to anyone else that so many of the topics are ...i dont know....odd...or different than they used to be...and i dont mean that in a good way.. i miss the newbies coming on and telling us their stories.... i miss the long time posters updating us on their lives post-borg... i guess with the recent uproar, the lurkers are hesitant to become newbies (cant say as i blame them now...we probably scared them off , and maybe the vets are just as hesitant...after all, someone went 2 years with their fraud/hoax...who will believe anyone else now?
i hope this is just a temporary cycle on this board..i have read many many posts from the archives...i hope one day soon we can get back to a happy medium here.. by the way, i like the fluff threads, but these seem to be more and more sex related (maybe that word will wake someone)... yet they get all the attention....and then someone goes too far and it gets locked down by a mod and the poster restricted......(i am not a prude...just sometimes enough is enough).

Where is it going? It all depends on what YOU want. I'm interested in reasonable and sane topics. Humor is indeed welcomed. I stop in just to see what's new. I'm probably one of a few that has been acquainted with this org. since the late forties. I've been in and out of this org. many times and I have never regretted it. Every time I left, I learned something new. Sports and work are my main interest. Forums of this nature, especially this one, has reinforced and aided me to let go. I no longer think of my association with this org., so much so that I feel as though I'm a stranger looking in. This is a good feeling. I'll pm those that need encouragement.
I hope this board goes in the way of encouraging others. You'll always have differences of opinions, always.
