  Do Jehovah`s Witnesses believe what the Bible actually states in scripture ? or do they just accept what their current INTERPRETATION of scripture is.

  I was always taught they believed what the scriptures actually said and not what others interpretated those scripture to mean.

  Of course they always meant Christendom here ,particulary the R.C.Church , never themselves.

  Getting back to the OP , what does the word for word translation say of the scriptures in question Luke 8:37-39

  Mark 5:18-20 ?

  in "The Kingdom Interlinear Of The Christian Greek Sriptures " printed by the WTB&TS , anybody ?

  JWs do Volunteer To Help Worldly Organizations Distribute Food to the Needy

  some months back i posted a topic asking if jws were now encouraged to volunteer their time for charitable organizations, as one of the volunteers who i work with was promoting jw.org to one of the spanish speaking workers.

  well the other day as he and i were folding and stacking tables after distributing food to the needy, i mentioned that after i retired i got bored and decided to do volunteer work.

  Actually it`s not quite clear whether he is a current JW or an ex JW , which might explain it a bit more.

  My bet would be he is an ex .

  so, i guess an upcoming wt has some new light on clapping!

  evidently, jesus has misinformed the gb/wtbts since the late 90's.

  clapping was disrespectful, because jesus felt that those who were df'd should not be given a pat on the back.

  Where does it say in the Christian greek Scriptures that a sinner has to wait anything up to 12 months or longer who has been DF or ex Communicated from the congregation to be re-united within the congregation. ?

  Doesnt that fly in the face of the parable of the prodigal Son ?

  The Watchtower and Awake magazines , along with the many other publications ,produced by the WTB&TS , over many years , such as the "Aid To Bible Understanding" , "Equipped For Every Good Work" , "Jehovah`s Witnesses In The Divine Purpose" the New World Translation of the Bible , the Kingdom Interlinear Of The Christian Greek Scriptures , etc,etc.

  Have provided Jehovah`s Witnesses with an education that you could not find in any University of higher education anywhere in the world for preparing ones life in the coming New System , so close at hand .

  The education JW`s provide since 1879 is next to none , and I mean none.

  Why would members of the Governing Body need to look any further.? It`s all there for the taking .

  I didn`t hear a word about Jesus or his Kingdom of a thousand years once in this talk

  Jesus Christ has been King since 1914 hasn`t he ?

  Isn`t Jesus Christ the one to bring on Armageddon ?

  Is it just me or is their some confusion amongst JW`s when it comes to Jehovah God or Christ Jesus performing some act.

  this weeks book study lesson was on martha, the sister of lazarus.

  the chapter in the "imitate their faith" book praised her for being "industrious".. the conductor at our congregation meeting was just positively gushing about how "industrious" modern-day jw women are.. he was so exciting, he could barely get the words out.

  yesterday, i was feeling very blue.

  this is quite unusual for me, as i tend to be quite an upbeat, positive person, so spells of sadness or depression take me by surprise and are a real shock to the system.

  you know, i don’t believe in “putting on a face” or pretending to be ok; this “fake it ’til you make it” malarkey has never been something i’ve liked.

  Welcome FaD,

  That`s a good topic , my niece is/was a talented musician , playing the Violin and the Piano , and was encouraged by her school teacher to pursue it as a career , and she had the opportunity to do so .

  She was discouraged by the JW religion , married a DH ,witness ,now with 2 teenage sons , and beleive the Elders are now REALLY preparing JW`s for the GT.

  It`s just so sad.and a wasted talent.

  I still haven`t discovered what my passion is , I`ll probably be on my deathbed and then realise it too late.

  i have been studying with the jw since june of 2016 and they say only the ones who make up the 144.

  000 and can partake of the bread and cup.

  is this true?.

  The JW`s always said that as they got closer to the Great Tribulation -Armageddon , that they claimed would take place before the 20th Century ended , the number of anointed would decrease to only a handfull left to go into the" New system"

  We are now 16 years into the 21st Century and the numbers are still going up .

  The numbers of anointed did drop to about 8000 and remained around that figure for about 35 years , from about the 1950`s -1960`s

  Since the 1990`s that figure has now increased to around 14000 of anointed as of 2016 .

  Go figure ?

  Next time you have a study ask your JW conductor to " Please explain" ?

  And when they talk about" New Light." , remember that is an excuse for previous failed prophecys , which are many .Far too many to list here , do more research before comitting yourself and regretting it for the rest of your life.
