We had a real sleazy brother in our KH. He even asked my sister (as in, "sibling") if he could paint a nude portrait of her.

Brothers that were too "touchy feely" with Sisiters - did you have one?
by Witness 007 inthere's a married brother in our hall {servant} who always hugs and kisses the younger sisiters in the hall....one time i turned around after we walked away from him and he was checking out my wife's butt!
at the bookstudy, he sqeezed himself on the couch next to a sisiter and she jumped up and moved seats {poor thing} did you have a sleaze bag brother in your cong.

by Iwonder17 ini'm curious how many people do this and what is the most that you ever wrote down that you didn't do?.

I always lied. I put 2 hours every month even though it was really 0. Amazing they never got after me for having such pathetic hours month after month. (this was just before my fade. I actually went out in FS before that. Can't remember if I lied then or not).

As Much as I hate to say this,I am glad for have being a J Dub
by SuperApostateGirl ini know this sounds crazy however being raised a jehovah's witness gave me the tools of respect for my fellow man.
also my parents had a huge role as well,of course.. i just find today there are soo many twisted people who are amused by the sickest of circumstances and pride themselves on belittling people.i mean i am the first to say.
i love funny sarcasm and making fun of the jehovah's witness religion because i believe in my heart its a crazy cult and way out in left field.

I had a few friends in it. Luckily my parents weren't too strict, so I was allowed "worldly" friends too. My "worldly" friends from when I was a teen are still my friends, believe it or not. I haven't heard from most of my JW friends in years...most of them left the cult before I did. I used to be glad for my JWism. Not anymore. Now, I seriously wish I was never in it.

Why Can't People Just Show Appreciation For This Place???
by minimus ini've been reading a few pages of threads from saturday until today and i can't understand why some,(actually very few) try to damage this site.
this is one of a handful of (ex)jw sites that really helps people get out of the organization.
the interaction that we have here shows anyone how we can leave the so- called "truth" and enjoy life!

I know a couple of people who got d/f for questioning the elders and the JW teachings in general. You're okay as long as you follow them like robots.

I am now 3 years old. That's how many birthdays I've celebrated so far lol. My 4th birthday is coming up in January (a/k/a my 30th!!!) and I want a party for the first time. Many people I talk to are absolutely amazed that I'm almost 30 and have never had a birthday party lol.
Anyway, happy early birthday! Hope it's everything you wish for! :)

I used to get them in my house! Every night, there would be swarms of them outside and they'd find a crack in my window or something. <shudder>

50's to 90's? Wow, that covers a lot.
My favorite old shows are I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners and The Twilight Zone. I used to watch those a lot with my dad.
My favorites shows as a tween/teen were Saved by the Bell, Blossom and My So-Called Life (my boyfriend's mother just bought me the series of MSCL on DVD...I was so ecstatic! lol).

Name something that JWs believe in that isn't in the Bible
by Awakened at Gilead inmy favorites are:.
"paradise earth": not in the bible.
"great crowd" of "other sheep" - two unrelated texts... put them together, and voila!, you just changed the destiny of millions!.

Sterilization is wrong? First I've heard of that. I also didn't hear oral sex was wrong until I was almost out and I didn't even believe the person who told me. In fact, I didn't believe it was a widespread JW rule until I started reading these forums lol.
I'm just going to emphasize the "dress code" that has been mentioned here. I've actually gotten into discussions with my devout JW mother over this fact. Why are dress pants bad for sisters? And what about denim? I wasn't even allowed to wear denim skirts or dresses to the KHs. I was practically forced to dress like Laura Ingalls my entire childhood.
