Those of you who have been successful- What works?? Especially with family?
Ps- Cogac-
Except with my husband, who is mostly out now
Congratulations on that!! Raising a kid with one parent in and one out can create a bit of stress.
however, sometimes i have a tendency to say to much.
one of these days i'm gonna get in trouble for it again... i just recently told my sil that the blood thing doesn't bother my conscience.
i told another close friend that i was relieved my husband was no longer reaching out to be an ms because i didn't want to have to deal with the pressure all the time.
the january km is completely different.
the style has been totally revamped
My 2 cents:
This is another episode in the ongoing battle between the Writing Department and the Service Department. The Writing department prepares books, magazines, etc. and feels quite proud of their work (supress the gag reflex). The Service Department has always prepared the Kingdom Ministry (or Kingdom Service,or whatever) and its drab style, repitious and boring content, and uninspired graphics have always been a source of embarrasment to Writing, who feel that they should be preparing it (it is written after all). Service always jealously guarded the KM as the one printed product and meeting that they could control. I doubt that Writing took over the KM- but it looks like a compromise happened.
"jehovah's witnesses have the lowest retention rate of any religious tradition.
only 37% of all those who say they were raised as jehovah's witnesses still identify themselves as jehovah's witnesses.".

jehovahs beaming eyes examine all.

I remember how after an article like this, the elders would comment to each other that a number of people would come forward and "confess" and they would have a busy few weeks with Judicial Committees.
Fear. Its the key to the WTS power.
Even now its hard to shake the feeling that someone is looking over your shoulder and will break in at any minute and drag you into a Judicial Committee.
and damm i love to shop...even on black friday.
i have a feeling it is just because i have never done it and it was forbidden...but so was sex once and i jumped all over that one!
is it because i do not believe jesus was not god nor his son?
Looks like I'm the lone man out here. I love Christmas. I feel like I'm catching up on 35 years of deprivation. I love the suspense my kid feels before Christmas morning. I love that everyone is sneaking away from work early to do shopping and everyone backs off a little bit on the adversarial work related BS (if only for a few weeks). Were decoraing the inside of the house for the first time. My wife is paranoid that the gestapo will come and announce us DFd and that will end all of our family ties. I even like the Christmas music.
And no- I don't believe in or care if Jesus was born on 12/25.
Lrkr (of the sap class)
well i hope none of you think i went over to the dark side, lol!.
we (gf and i) went to see a presentation of handel's messiah.
i was impressed with the beautiful choir voices and the string quintet and other players.
Good to see you-
Churches interest me very much. Because now, I can see them not as a den of demons- but an attempt by people (architects, sculptors and artists, usually) to express or experience the divine through a built space.
So much more interesting than Kingdom Hall architecture! And the music and sermons can be very interesting and uplifting also- they really are much more layered and interesting than the repetitious mind control drivel that you hear at the KH.
Not that I believe in God- but going to church can be an occasionally nice experience.
do the witnesses believe that their religion is the only right one?anyone who is serious about his religion should think that it is the right one.
otherwise, why would he or she be involved in it?
christians are admonished: "make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine.
Lets simplify their answer:
Part 1- No we don't think you have to be a JW to be saved
Part 2- What about those who were alive before there were JWs
Part 3- If you live today- you could still become a JW
Conclusion- we don't really judge anyway
So.....we asked the wrong question- Do JWs believe that only people who are JW's (or never heard from a JW) when the Great Tribulation comes will be saved???
Answer- Yup.
....following a false prophet?.
jesus and the bible do not at any point mention birthdays, xmas etc.
however it does have clear rules regarding following false prophets.. .

even if its not the truth...... .
.
Even if its not the truth-
Then lets just publicly admit that its not- so that when people die from not getting a blood transfusion, or decide not to go to college or otherwise screw themselves over- at least we all know that it was their decision and not because someone said that "its the truth"
