I grew up in a house where my father was the Presiding Overseer of our congregation. I remember him going to meetings and shaking hands with all the elders, asking them how they were, etc. But after elders meeting, he would be fuming in the car and saying how they made him furious and it was all he could do not to hit certain ones. He rarely showed us children that he loved us and would have frequent fits of anger. My mother was not much better. So I guess I have always felt like the whole "we love each other, just as Jesus loved us" thing was a load of crap.

I'm sure there are some genuine, loving, JWs out there, but I've met very few of them.

Sleep Disorder Anyone?

i am curious today about people that cannot wake up.

i have a problem with waking up.

i do not hear alarms.

I have sort of the same problem, but I don't have it nearly as severe. I can sleep straight through my alarm clock (it's a really loud one). I also act like I'm awake for a while at times, even if I'm not. Sometimes when I'm dreaming very vividly, I can't tell what's real, and what's part of the dream.

I do have mild sleep apnea, but my doc said the above symptoms weren't related to it. I don't know how you manage living with a severe form of this. I know it disorients me pretty badly every now and then. I've actually never heard anyone else complain of the same problem. How long have you had it?

Elders on my tail

as mentioned before, i have not been to a mtg since january.

i have not spoken to anyone in the congregation about my decisions as of late and i dont plan on informing anyone either.

i have had the elders at my door at least once a week for the last few months and every car group out in service that needs to fill in some time are stocking me here too.

Yeah, they did that to me, too. Granted, I only lived about 45 minutes away from my parents, so it's not like they called across the country. But it still felt like they were ratting me out to my folks at the time. It didn't help them any, because it only made me angry and less willing to talk to the elders. If they'd have tried to be friends with me, instead of making obvious "shepherding calls" it would have worked better.

if it was possible for satan to offer you something desireable, knowing that god wouldn't approve of it, would you accept it anyways.. now, if you don't believe in god, you won't believe in satan either so this question doesn't apply to you..

There is nothing he could possibly offer me that I want. I have everything I want through my Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm not interested in anymore of Satan's lies.

I personally believe (as a christian now) that they are demonically influenced. I don't think there's any human that could manipulate such large scale evil, without demonic help.
