God that was beautiful! I loved every bit of it, from the "Naaame that falacy!" to the (ding!) registered trademark on so called 'truth.' I was amazed when I read that issue that I had never noticed in all my years poisoning my mind with the WTS propaganda that they do a one-two punch. They set up the concept with valid points that it is hard to disagree with as the 'one' then the 'two' or sucker punch comes in to misapply or in some cases completely negate the set up while convincing the gullible that the set up and sucker punch aren't a non sequitur at all. The unholy bait-and-switch of Doom. And the reader doesn't have all the other references you use right at hand so there is the chance they will miss it! That's why what you are doing is so important, and appreciated. THANK YOU! RD

The endtime issues and signs are basically interpretations.
You have to ask yourself, who is making these interpretive calls?
The WTS bases it's claim to authority on an appointment supposedly made in 1919 and cites a parable that means something different when viewed in context. It says NOTHING about an organization, it's about how each of us uses the resources we are endowed with.
1919 is based on 1914, a date they cling to but misrepresent what they used to teach about.
1914 is based on pyramidology, a pseudo scientific method of establishing time lines which involved measuring the Great Pyramids and using a "year for an inch" formula. They were still teaching this as of 1919 and for some time thereafter until it was decided that it was unsupportable. They then pinned 1914 to the year 607 BCE which is a thoroughly debunked date but it was the only date that made their time line work.
When you look at these foundations of the Tower of Cards, you see that they obviously have no business interpreting scripture regarding endtimes, middletimes or even anytimes at all.
The foundation crumbles and everything else becomes a moot point.
Of course no dubby worth his salt would let himself think down a line that lead there, they are self policing.

what's funny is that when i prayed for truth and to know god, i knew and had a real feeling in my heart that i was getting closer to something real, but there was still a voice going, "hey, it's me jehovah, and you have rejected me!".

The 2008 Grand Boasting Session Ahead

the first of the 2008 grand boasting sessions is almost upon us, and i expect to begin seeing threads about the programs in the coming weeks.
notably, this means some children will be missing the last weeks of school (the program starts on friday), or at least one day of it, to attend.. i will be looking for any new rules and instructions that have not yet happened.

Making restitution to People
by LongHairGal inthe recent thread about being ripped off by untrustworthy jws made me think:.
since many here are ex-jws, i wonder how many are guilty and have made an effort to make restitution to that brother who you owe money to - especially if you find out that the brother is no longer a jw and maybe even is posting here??
this can also apply to other wrongs we committed, not just about money.

I only brought two in, my two wives.
That sounds bad, I only had ONE at a time and THAT was often too much!
They are both pretty lousy at the Failed Misery so they brought nobody in.
I got one out, ex-wife no. 2.
Ex wife no. 1 is still "in" deep down, but makes no attempt to act "in." Smokes, drinks, lives more in her online game World Of Wankers than in real life.
I did my part to undo what I done. I feel that where dubbyness is concerned, no debt that needs restitution on my part exists.
There are any number of non-dubs I feel very guilty about mistreating, and not all of that was in relation to being a dub myself.
I'm not always proud of who I've been and what I've done, but time marches on.
