i was just reading a thread about the new 'exciting' format for the watchtower and how there will be a jw only edition.
add to this what i believe is the new rule that da'd and df'd people are not allowed to receive the magazines unless they attend meetings.
this all got me thinking.... .

long story short, (i'll post it later), after many years of problems with the wts my wife and kids left me and she has filed for divorce (no adultery was committed).
feeling really sad right now.
i was a great husband and father, however, i could not take the thought of going to any more meetings and have over the last year started to find was to avoid meetings.

I feel for you, you are in for quite a few changes.
The walls seem to close in the silence becomes oppressive, but I assure you it gets better in time and may eventually be better than it was before all the upheaval.
Make no mistake, adultery HAS occured, but it is HER adultery with the WTS organization. To give the loyalty and and honor due her husband to the WTS is a form of cheating in MY book!
I advise you to begin a geurilla war for your kids, It might make you an object of astracism, but in the end, it will all be worth it. YOU HAVE TO WIN for your kid's sake.

this is something that just popped in my mind suddenly.. but i was thinking about over the years the many comments of jws about loved ones.
for instance, one sister was speaking of her disgust with her children not accepting the "truth".
she gladly tells anyone of what she told them; that if they don't accept it before armageddon that it's too bad.
This issue is one that simply amazes me even ten years out of the cult.
A friend who was attending meetings and trying, albeit marginally, to be a JW had a baby (with my ex wife), and his mother wailed "I don't ever want to know that baby, why should I love it when it's just going to be killed in armageddon!"
So I went to the hospital to see the lil one, 1lb 12 1/2 oz, they didn't know if he was gonna live. Here I could be forgiving and go see the baby that resulted from an infidelity where I was the 'injured party' because it wasn't the baby's fault and it was undeniably my daughter's new little brother, but the child's own granny couldn't get past her own despicable judgement of the baby's dad and mom.
My own mom, may God forgive her, has been a constant fountain of ill-considered sentiments and backhanded comfort. She told one of my girlfriends who was greiving bitterly over the loss of her sister who had been in training to be a nun, "better dead than a nun!"
She recently informed me that I am 'the evil slave' even though she 'loves me like a son.'
I have been roundly castigated for visiting my father's grave every memorial day. Only one other sibling has ever visited, to my knowledge, my eldest brother 'non-dub' who was also the only one to show and help put dad into the ground after his embarrasing, JW-like memorial service.
They scoff and snort as they mockingly and derisively dismiss the notion out of hand, the bastards. My dad was never a JW, but he was a generous soul who always had a kind word and time for any of 'em and they can't even show decency and respect!
You know, when Jesus said that family members would turn on each other, I don't think he meant it as a command, yet these 'people' are following it as if he meant precisely that.
And they are proud of their deplorable perversion of truth and love.

i recently sleuthed out a male jw young adult living in our building.
I've pegged them a time or two. Here's how it works!
My nearly deaf mother and I, in the food-court area of costco on a Sunday afternoon.
she says "it's not fair that you have turned (girlfriend) and (daughter) against the truth. You should let me study with them so they'll know both sides, be fully informed, and make up their own mind"
I reply, loudly since she is nearly deaf, "since when is studying with a witless about being fully informed or knowing both sides? I thought it was about seduction, indoctrination, and control."
She scoffs, "see, you won't even let them try it to see if they like it"
so I say, "oh yeah, why don't I hook 'em on herion and get 'em turning tricks 'just to see if they like it' using that logic?"
She makes a snorting noise.
"look mom, if (daughter's) mom was a muslim, would you want me enrolling her in a madrassa and making her wear a burka just so she can give it a 'fair chance'?"
Well, that's different!" she responds, "we know that's a false religious system!"
"well mom, I just happen to know the same thing about yours, but I won't tell you why because they could disfellowship you for hearing my reasons. How's THAT for hearing both sides? So much for being fully informed."
Just then, a fellow sitting nearby in a dress shirt gives me a look that could peel paint. BINGBINGBING!
His wife, in a flowery dress, covers the ears of their daughter, BINGBINGBING!

I'm not a big fan of Glocks, but I've had enough dogma in the WTS, I won't argue about it.
Had a Springfield Aromory 1911 in Commander size, but the one I had was flaky as hell, failed to extract on a constant basis.
Carried a Ruger GP101 wheelgun in .357 for quite a spell, currently toting a Beretta M96 although for home defense nothing beats a scattergun.
As a pretty huge guy in a wheelchair, holsters are kinda problematic, but believe it or not, I can completely dissapear that full-sized .40 Beretta and two hi-cap clips in my pockets.
Mn law requires one to retreat if at all possible, but in a wheelchair, my options become limited. I can't imagine what I'd do if I lived someplace where repelling an attacker with the best tool for the job wasn't among those options.

my 81 year old mother has alzeimer's.
visiting with her yesterday, she said she would rather go ahead and die ,because 'i have nothing to look forward to.

My mom has Alzheimer's too. Tho she thinks it's 'oldtimer's' and we cannot disuade her.
She hasn't gotten really bad yet, but she was always a few cows short of a barn, electroshock in the fifties.
The dr's all told us (as if it were good news, mind you,) that with her other health issues, it's doubtful she'll live long enough for the oldtimer's to do its worst.

well, i'm going to have visitors this saturday.... it's a long tale, but it does have a point, i promised at one time to post about the ugly poa mess, and these visitors are directly involved in this ugliness.. my dub niece and her hubby, who haven't seen fit to have any contact with me in over three years called me out of the blue offering me my dad's old furniture, so i'm going out there to pick it up in my van, but then they are following me back home to 'hang out and maybe grill some stuff' just as if nothing's changed, but a lot has changed.. we recently had a battle in my family over my aging mother's poa because she has the early stages of alzheimer's and the family broke into factions along unexpected lines.. the primary combatents were my two sisters, mrs. po who is the third child (i am the fouth), and srlb who is the youngest of us five.. the other players are my two brothers, 'non-dub', the oldest, and 'df', the second.. well, non-dub molested srlb when she was eight, just once, but that is a million times too many and after years of seeming to tolerate his presence when she had to, she decided that she could never forgive him for 'messing up her life.'.
when non-dub was down on his luck, mrs po lets him live in a room in her house.
very untypical behavior for a dub.. srlb 'personally disfellowships' mrs po, i guess you can be shunned even if you are in 'good standing', and the wife of the po at that!.
Mum, yeah, I was surprised to learn that a retarded berson could have an IQ of 165, but an elder said it, right?

As for the furniture, it IS mine, dad gave it to me before he died, it's time.
As for the cookout, it wound up being cancelled. Not sure what to think of that, Niece might have changed, but was close at one time, I really am curious how it would have went. Her hubby is a pretty ok sort who refuses to play all these familial wargames. A fair hand with a guitar too.

Everything I've said about myself is the truth, and a lot of things I HAVEN'T said are true as well.
I have put myself out there, and I have no problem with it, but I have used catchphrase codenames for anybody else I reference, common courtesy and all.
Honesty is the best policy, and what are they going to do, say they saw my posting at an apostate forum? I'd laugh in their faces.
If 'bad guys' took offence and decided to find me, they probably could, but they'd also find a 12 ga. enema waiting for them.
