Welcome Dave! I'm new to JWD myself. As for their mental retard comments, I'd take them as a compliment. Look at what the elders call NORMAL!

Allow me to introduce myself
by RollerDave ini was raised among the witnesses and left in my early 30's due to a mixture of doctrinal disputes and social isolation.
my mother and both of my sisters remain within the organization.
i also have two brothers, one df'd, one who never quite caught the watchtower bug.. my road within the organization was a rocky one that eventually lead to a place where i found myself socially isolated within the congregation as a person simply unfit for fellowship with proper, upright, theocratic people who must cut off all 'worldy' association, suffer the ensueing isolation, and eat humble pie until such a time as they determined i was 'spiritual minded' enough for them to associate with.. baptism was held up as my expected goal, but despite trying, i was never quite good enough for them.

Will there be death in paradise?
by Bob Loblaw inso, from what i remember,...after armageddon, those righteous jw's who make it through will have to clean up the utter devestation.
imagine 9/11 on a world-wide scale.
they also (from what i remember) will not be miraculously perfect right away.

It's obvious the society hasn't thought that one through. They're like Ned Flanders on acid with the stuff they come up with. They think they will be merrily shovelling bodies of the wicked, welcoming the resurrected, planting flowers and all while singing praises to Jehovah with kingdom smiles on their pretty little faces.
I would love to see Matt Stone & Trey Parker to do a JW South Park episode! That would be a collector's item!

..If I went "Back to the Kingdom Hall"..
by OUTLAW inif i went back to the kingdom hall there would be no windows..lol!
!..and..many doctrines,i could no longer preach.i would be reprimanded, reproved or disfellowshipped for it!..doctrines we were told to preach, straight from god, given to us by the wbt$ are no longer valid.the wbt$ says so.......i left in 1974.i couldn`t preach "armageddon by 1975"..most jehovah`s witness`s will tell you wbt$ never made that prediction.although wbt$ liturature says otherwise....."jehovah`s witness will be the only ones who survive armageddon".now,no one knows....."jehovah`s witness`s can`t take blood transfusions".now they can use blood factions....."religion has no place with worldly organizations".the wbt$ had an assosiation with the united nations-ngo..make a big deal about that and you "will" be disfellowshipped!.....
"the generation of 1914 will not pass away.

I've often thought to myself it would be funny to go back, introduce myself (I'm living in a different location) as a Dub who wants to repent and come back. Bask in their love for a while then during the Public Talk just stand up and yell "Oh f*#k it's the same s%^t as always!". Then just walk out.

I remember when I first stopped going, a few months later the Elders came by for one of their shepharding interrogations. A male worldly friend happened to be visiting me at the time. I answered the door and after a few minutes of their loving tactics my friend came up to the door, gave me a hug and said "honey when am I getting that blow job you promised?". The look on their faces was PRICELESS! I politely excused myself and closed the door in their faces before they could see me laughing.
I wouldn't go to their meeting, they know they are losing their power over you and they are trying to get it back. Don't give it back to them.

How does one prepare themself to leave
by BFD inwhat are ways one can prepare themself once the decision is made to leave the borg knowing full well the consequenses will be losing all family and friends due to the shunning policy?.
i remember the emotions i went through when i first started to be shunned.
it was rough but, i was not left all alone in the turmoil, i had 4 siblings to lean on and at the time my dad was still alive.

Do what you feel is right. As said before, make worldly friends, develop a hobby, get over your fear of Jehovah and the Elders. Remember, worldly people are not how the Dubs make them out to be. Read experiences of other ex-Dubs and how we coped. It will be hard but it will be worth it. You'll discover a new you, in a way you will feel re-born as you discover the world in a different light. It's not such a bad and scary place.
Be prepared for the Elders. They are going to tell you that you are being weak and succumbing to Satan's temptations. Don't listen to them. Take time out for yourself and remember your just a keyboard away from many others who have been through this already. Use this forum.

"Cut Off" Orchestra?
by brinjen ini was watching a tv show last week called 'the chaser's war on everything".
for those who don't live in australia it's a political satire program.
one of their sketches was award ceremonies such as the oscars & the orchestra that cuts off the long and boring acceptance speeches.

I was watching a TV show last week called 'The Chaser's War On Everything". For those who don't live in Australia it's a political satire program.
One of their sketches was award ceremonies such as the Oscars & the orchestra that cuts off the long and boring acceptance speeches. They showed some scenarios where it might be useful to have one of those orchestras with you in real life.
They then showed a sketch where you see a man in his house answering the door, there are 2 men in suits with "Hello, we're Jehovah's Witnesses....." you guessed it, and orchestra cuts them off and they admit defeat and leave.
I was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions where they think the cut off orchestra would be useful?

Yes and no, she can marry a non JW but it is frowned upon. She'll be considered an outsider by her congregation, she'll be constantly reminded how her husband will be destroyed at armaegeddon and it will be rubbed in her face how she's married a 'non-believer'. You'll need to think long and hard about this one, Her religion is her life it will affect yours in every aspect possible. Sorry to sound so blunt but those are the facts
