Why are works of the law so important to the WTS?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inpaul states in galatians 2:16,. .
"knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of jesus christ, even we have believed in jesus christ, that we might be justified by the faith of christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
did you ever wonder if you were just an employee of the wts?

Excellent point. Looking back now, I do feel like I was employed by the WTS although I didn't see it at the time of course.
Works of the law can be observed and judged. Faith is personal and subjective; therefore it cannot be tallied and calculated by the middle managers. Therefore, faith has been redefined as: number of comments per meeting (aka "expressing your faith"), sales hours per month ("the ministry"), managerial aspirations (aka "reaching out"), good sales technique (the TMS), your downline (bible studies), and sales meeting attendance (the old Hebrews 10:24,25 trick).
Couldn't have put it better myself SirNose586

DO NOT RING MY DOORBELL AT 8AM (real "Knocking" video????)
by Tatiana inaustralian filmmaker john safran is so fed up with mormons ringing his doorbell early in the morning that he flies to salt lake city, utah and tries to convert mormons to atheism.
needless to say, the locals were not pleased.

Haven't seen that one. I did see a sketch he did in a series about the music industry a few years ago when Prince was trying out life as a dub. He portrayed him door to door witnessing with his back up dancers trying to place the watchtower to the music of 'Kiss'. That's a good one if you can find it. He also did a series called 'John Saffran Vs God', recommended viewing.

Are JW's generally better than average people?
by JH ini for one, would blindly trust just about anyone on this forum, just the fact of knowing that you already were a jw.. does this mean that jw's in general are better people or are we a very close bunch of people?.

On the whole, they are worse. Yes, there are some nasty worldly people out there. However, there are nasty dubs as well. The best christians I have ever met are the ones that don't do good deeds for the sake of being noticed. They do them because it's just their nature, they don't care if anybody sees them they have nothing to prove. That's a real christian.

Been "worldly" for 4 months now
by themonster123 inwell, i left around january or february, and it's been about 3 months or so experiencing "worldly" living.
i gotta say...it's been an interesting and uncomfortable transition, to say the least.
i would just like to update everyone on how i'm doing, and share some of my worldly experiences, as well.

You have to be cautious when meeting new people. Some are not of good character. Take the time to learn more about people you may choose to be friends with or have relationships with. There are people waiting to take advantage of someone.
Good advice. There are some truly great people out there, on the other hand, there are some unsavoury characters as well. 'Money hungry' guy is a good example. However, not all wordly people are like him in fact, most are not. You need to let go of the perceptions the dubs fed you, it will take some time but you will get there.
Maybe you're not ready for places such as bars and clubs just yet. Have you considered starting a hobby? You could find a local club in the area you choose and make friends that way.
In the "world" dating is so F**** d up!!! It's like dating and relationships GO Together, or so I thought.
Again, not all wordly people steer away from relationships, some do some don't. My advice though would be to not be looking to jump into a relationship immediately. Spend some time on yourself first, learn to adjust to your new surroundings the new 'you'. Again, you need to let go of what has been ingrained into you by the dubs. Worldly people don't always date for the sake of having a relationship or finding that special someone. Just because they don't however, dosen't mean they aren't completely closed to the idea either.
like there's a hole in my heart. I feel a shallowness that fills me-there's not that deep warmth and purpose and strong core I felt as a Witness when everything had an answer and it was all a matter of time till we're in Paradise.
Was it true or just a security blanket?
I don't know-there have been so many things going on now-it's been fun, but scary and hard as well. My brother said it will take a good year before I fully adjust as a "worldly person."
It's good to see you have some family support, good luck!

First of all, my condolenses on your loss
Your experience sounds familiar, my mother's funeral was the same with her name barely even mentioned. I just remember sitting there thinking "well you never paid any attention to her when she was alive either".
My grandmother's funeral was a different story, they read out her life story how she was a 'faithful witness to the very end'. Yeah faithful. This is the same woman who told her grand daughter she was a mental retard that never deserved to be born and bashed her while she was sleeping. Yeah that's a woman Jehovah can be proud of. Wonder if the money her non dub sons decided to donate to the KH had anything to do with it? It was the money left over from her bank account after funeral expenses.
Once again, sorry for your loss.

Name Things Witnesses Make Big Deals Over
by minimus inhave you ever seen a witness get absolutely giddy over placing a measly tract with a neighbor and get up on the platform and tell the "experience" of how the neighbor actually said that he'd read it!
big deal!!!.
in our hall, they loved to applaud over the dumbest things!

Being a 13 year old in the school yard spotted by an elder's wife when a boy hands me a piece of bubble gum. Elder's wife thinks you're holding hands with the boy, next meeting you're hauled into the back room and accused of being on the pill and having sex with the boy.
Good to hear the WTS has finally banned bubble gum, that stuff is evil!

Did you REALLY ever have faith in God or was it more in men?
by avidbiblereader inseriously, think about this, when you look back on your faith, was it really in god, or was it the god from the witness perspective and you really did/do equate the witness organization with god, or was it really in men?.
with so many that have been disillusioned with god since leaving the witnesses, where was your faith really in?.
respectfully,.

At the time I could have sworn my faith was with Jehovah. Looking back now though I realise it was with men, I just didn't realise it.
