Are you seriously suggesting that the old law is still valid? If so, why are the other laws not followed? (e.g. slavery, not working on the sabbath, etc.)
Now that is a good point. Can anyone else enlighten on this?

for me (an atheist) it goes against my own morality to think of them as sinners or somehow doing wrong, and yet in the bible it teaches that it is wrong.
it's one of the main reasons i could never go along with the jws.. i'm curious how religious people address this issue.

It also depends on where you live. In Australia for instance, gay marriage is illegal. Not just unrecognised, but illegal even for a gay couple to hold a ceremony for themselves. Our beloved prime minister John Howard made it illegal without any warning whatsoever in the 'interests of protecting families'.

i know of many homosexuals who live much cleaner lives than their heterosexual counterparts
Excellent point. I can think of many homosexuals I know that make far better christians than the ones who claim they are sinners in the eyes of God. They treat people better, are honest and decent hard working people. I believe sexuality is genetically encoded in us, you're born the way you are pure and simple. I also believe that God loves us and accepts us the way we are.

New Stupid Assembly Rules

some are designed to stop people from meeting the opposite sex; others, to make sure everyone is always ready to recruit new members into the scam.
i heard that some km inserts have been urging those whose congregation has cleaning assignments to sit in the section that they are assigned to clean.

Sigh. So many sexually repressed young men, so many hiding places. The single sisters in my congregation usually went to assemblies hoping to meet a fine upstanding brother to serve, study and attend meetings with. That's a dating ritual I could never understand. The sign they were getting serious would always be sitting next to each other in the meetings, when they held hands during prayer, the congregation would be waiting with baited breath for the wedding invitations. How that is going to happen now if you have to stick to your own congregation for whatever reason, maybe they don't want anyone comparing notes

WTS settles sexual abuse cases + video
by Rado Vleugel ini am sure this story is mentioned earlier (i don't have the time now to search this forum), but i have compiled an article about this case:
sixteen sexual abuse victims have settled nine lawsuits in which they said they were sexually abused as children by jehovahs witnesses members and leaders.. settlements were reached in late february and early march, according to court records obtained by bill bowen of silentlambs.org.

Staying dressed up after the a$$embly is dismissed. You are supposed to go to McDonald's dressed up and with your name badges on. Supposedly, this is another form of advertising for your
MLMreligion.The One Towel Rule. Using only one towel to dry your hands might save them money. However, the towels are sized for children's hands to prevent wasting an adult sized towel on a child.
Staying in the building for lunch. This is so people won't take off after the morning session and not come back, perhaps using the remaining time to explore the city and its surroundings. It also limits what you can eat for lunch, since most motels lack refrigerators.
Not using vending machines within the facilities.
What the??? Next thing they'll just lock everyone in the building for the weekend, forcing them to sleep on the floor (men & women separate of course), everyone pays $100 a night "donation" plus food. During the sessions they can get elders to walk up and down the aisles with a large horse whip, striking anyone who is fidgeting, is without their kingdom smile or not taking enough notes.
