I don't believe it's anyone's place to tell someone how they should leave the JW's in the first place. Whether you're an elder or an anti-Watchtower activist. Everyone has the right to choose if they leave and how.... period.

Watchtower vs. the Roman Catholic Church
by Farkel inthe roman catholic church (rcc) religious leaders wear ridiculous clothing.. wts elders wear ridiculous cheap suits.. .
one can wear a beard and still be a priest in the rcc.. one can wear a beard in the wts, but never be an elder with one.
it's bible-based(tm).

Constructive feedback for AAWA leadership (IMHO)
by besty in1 - reconsider your existence - there might be a reason why the most effective resources to date have been solo efforts.
2 - recognize that even well-intentioned organizations will firstly seek self-preservation.
3 - be aware that egos and emotional stupidity have torn apart much grander edifices than aawa.

Member: You have been cleared by AAWA Administration through the protocols mentioned above and are shown on Membership Tab. You can see and interact with everyone on the members list on the AAWA group page, however if you are not "friends" with another member you will not be able to see their personal Facebook page unless thier own privacy settings have allowed for non "friends" to see it. Your personal page is either set to "only me", "private", "friends of friends", and "friends only"
The problem with Facebook though is none of that is an absolute guarantee. They can change the privacy settings and re-set everything without even any notification of doing so.

INTIMIDATION by threat
by Terry inwhat would happen if somebody pointed a gun at you and told you what to do?.
an implied threat would motivate almost every person to do as they were told.. what about in a religious context?
what if a "gun" were pointed at members of a religion?.

Thinking back to what helped me the most when I first began to investigate. It was sites such as Freeminds especially... and reading people's experiences who seemed no different to me. One after the other, I was glued to the computer for pretty much a full day. It's finding out that your doubts etc are no different to anyone else's that often does it. The Watchtower love to make people feel isolated because they see what they are saying differently and just 'don't get' what everyone else is getting. The Freeminds site destroyed that completely for me and that is what broke down that 'must not read apostate material' barrier...
Simple is often the most effective.
