Ridiculous JW superstitions
by B_Deserter ini'm not talking about the stuff you hear at the kingdom hall, i'm talking about the "experiences" you were told of by people you knew.

For those who didn't go to uni....
by brinjen inespecially those who didn't go on account of the borg (the vast majority).
do you regret this decision?
if you did go what would you have studied?

Crumpet... Wow! That's a 'meaty' subject. Very interesting subject too.
Tyrone... I can relate to that feeling. I left school mainly because I saw it as another way to control me, just like the borg. Not to mention my promising career in pioneering and gaining the approval of the elders..
He has told me that he has dicovered a whole crew of witnesses attending the same collage and even teaching. They support eachother and have no guilt about anything. It absolutely enrages my soul!
It sucks how theres always another set of rules for the 'in' crowd.
Dawn... I am considering it...
Mary... If you get less than 100% for that assignment, I'm going to 'have a word' to your professor

I heard of Madonna posters being possesed, the crucifixes she was wearing in the picture glowing, the posters falling off the wall and going back up the next day. Never happened to me.... A sister who bought a book mark from a christian book shop and was tormented by demons until she threw it away at the KH.
I recall this particular incident, concerning a dear old thing, who was friend of a friend, of a friend of the narrator, and who was on the door-to-door service, when the door she eventually called on had this rather grim and grizzly man who, disheveled in appearance, had hidden his right hand behind him. He had evidently just killed his wife, and was departing when he answered the door. His initial impulse was to lash out with his knife and silence any potential witness [if you pardon the pun] to his dastardly deed. But he was thwarted because he swore he saw, standing beside this dear old thing, a personage of such shining demeanor and gait, that he collapsed and confessed. The elders were quickly summoned and the grateful police acknowledged the sterling job rendered by said dear old thing. I am not sure how the story ended, but variations saw the copper either converted to the WT cause, or the murderer himself, while in incarceration, becoming one.
Heard that one too. The version I heard was the killer converted while in prison.
I also remember hearing of some dubs out country witnessing, they were on they're way to a house when the car broke down on some train tracks and refused to start. Train was coming when they felt their car being lifted up off the tracks and carried to safety. They got to witness to the poor householder after all. Whether that was demons or angels I'll leave to your interpretation

My dear sisters brinjen and eclipse, what is this "herb" of which you speak so fondly?
Is it good for making tea?
Oh how I do enjoy a good cup of tea from time to time.
Oregano... makes a nice tea (I hear) and very versatile in your cooking

YOUR DAILY JOURNAL
by compound complex indear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

{{{{{{{Crumpet}}}}}}} Sorry Crumps, it's the best I could do. Hang in there, you've got a lot to offer.
Interesting development at work recently, dragon manager who's been making everyone's life a misery is transferring to a store in another state in a few weeks! Re-thought my options and have decided I'll stay after all. The job itself does at least give me some opportunity to utilise my computer skills. Not to mention I may be in line for a promotion as well, will keep you posted. Things are definitely looking up, the mood has changed BIG time, everyone is so optomistic, going good at the moment..

Wow ...I'm shocked..... I shouldn't be... but I am.
Thanks Gopher for sharing this... this guy was worse than your average catholic priest that the wts loves to call hyprocritical.
and even noted that a brothel was run for the headquarters "Bethelite" men during his time of control.

I told my parents I no longer believe the Watchtower Society
by B_Deserter inthey insisted i come over for a debate, a chance for them to save me since according to my mother this was "a matter of life and death.
" basically i spent the whole evening passively nodding my head and acknowledging what they said.
i tried a few times to argue or debate but getting through to them was impossible.

Not long ago, one of the posters here (goingGoingGone) told about a conversation someone had with a fellow at Bethel
This person asked, "Don't you people believe that Armageddon is coming soon? What's all the building for, if you really believe that?"
The Bethelite answered that the Society lived as if the end were coming tomorrow, and planned as if it were never coming.
Now that's a good point.... kinda sums it all up really.

Why do people always blame others ?
by JH inmy mom moved to a brand new building and i wanted to make doubles of her keys of her apartment, so i cross the street where they do that, and brought them 2 different keys to make doubles.
the first key went fine and could open that door, but the other key didn't open the door, so i went back and they tried again, so i went to moms apartment and it still didnt work, so i went back and they made an other one, and i went back to moms apartment and it still didnt work.....in all they tried 4 times and they weren't able, so i went to the cash to get my money back for the key that they werent able to make a double of....so the girl at the cash said, maybe you should get a new door lock, so i told her that it was a brand new building and a brand new door knob, so it was their fault not ours.
all that time i had a smile on my face when i want back and back and back, but when the girl at the cash said that i should try changing my door knob, then i realized how people just can't admit that they weren't able to do the job properly or they didn,t have the right key to start with to make a double.

Heres another angle to consider;
Not so much as the employees fault as the employer if they didn't provide the right training...
I've had this so many times at the jobs I've had over the years, you get promised "induction training". You're told it will be provided. Then you get there and they sit you in front of a tv for a dvd on the companies history, maybe some occ health & safety, then you're told to serve the customers..... Any problems, speak to one of the friendly supervisors (usually too busy to help).
Then you get a customer you genuinely can't help and they call you incompetant.... you want to smash your bosses face in every time you hear it.
Not saying that is necessarily the case with you, what you went through sounds extremely frustrating and you must be one cool cucumber to reacte the way you did. A lot don't.
