my mother in law turned out as monty burns
I thought she was the Mad Cat Lady
i was just reading some of my old diaries and wanted to share it particularly for anyone who feels despair, who is locked into the society through family and especially for any young lurkers still in.
i wrote this shortly after i turned 15. comments in brackets are my own to clarify.. tuesday 1st may 1990. you know i frequently wish that there was some arrangement whereby you could go to sleep and never have to go through the trouble of waking up.
i dont believe one can ever actually be truly happy.
Excellent thread Crumpet!
Most of us who grew up in a cult can remember all too well the feeling of being trapped. As if being a teenager isn't enough to deal with. I also remember the feeling I was the only one who felt this way. Wishing your life had been different, of not wanting any part of the 'religion' being forced of you but at the same time terrified of leaving as this would result in being killed at armageddon. That's a lot to deal with. It's a wonder we are all still sane!
I was around 10 when I first began thinking of suicide. I figured I'd be helping Jehovah out as he was going to destroy me anyway. Glad I didn't go through with it...
Any lurkers out there who are or have gone through this, you are not alone. What you are feeling (or have felt) is normal, don't let anyone tell you the problem lies with yourself, it doesn't. I'll third this, there is a lot of support out there for you, all you have to do is register and ask. It's not easy, but it will be well worth it. It will get better...
ok, so there was an article looking for volunteers to pick up the bodies of the dead after a disaster such as katrina or 9-11. my first thought was that jws ought to volunteer for this and get the training.
.it is their goal in life to pick up bodies (preferably after they have been picked over by carrion), and it seems like a fitting way to properly train for their future occupation.
just think-they could save jehovah all kinds of time with their more efficient and capable cleansing of the earth of the wicked.
puts a whole new spin on the saying..."I'm going out to get a big Mac"

dear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.
Good morning (evening) all!
Emo, glad to hear your camping trip went well and as for feeling alone, I know that feeling all too well {{{{{{{Sad emo}}}}}}}, hope that helps!
CoCo, I used to work night shift myself, in a 24 hour supermarket, loved it! But then I've always been more of a 'night owl' myself, wouldn't help if you have jobs you need to do during the day. Hang in there...
I've just finished the biggest pile of dishes I've seen in a long time. Been wondering where they've all been going, the cupboard was empty. Then Mr. Brinjen decided to clean out his radio shack.... Dumped them inside and went back to his radios. So I get home from work to find them sitting there. I know Mr Brinjen won't be washing them in a hurry, so I've just spent the last 3 hours scrubbing, washing, wiping and cooking tonight's meal (quick stir fry). On top of all of this, our flat mate went out to sea today (prawn season here, will be gone a couple of months) and Mr Brinjen has already managed to lose Flatmate's dog. She disappeared sometime this arvo and no effort from Mr B to look for her. Aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhh! Men! Can't live with them, can't shoot them!
Had an interesting conversation with my Uncle on the phone last night. Uncle was raised as a dub but ran screaming back in the 50's when he was a teen in pursuit of a University degree in Electrical Engineering. He was telling me how he remembered all the dubs were convinced armageddon would come in 1954. In fact, that's about all he remembers of them. He hadn't even heard of the Ray Franz scandal (no, we don't talk about these matters much), I happily filled him in, told him of the book CoC. Wonder if he'll read it? We then speculated on how much longer the society can keep the armageddon threat going...
Well, I'm going to bed soon start my new job tomorrow! Training for the first five weeks so I get a nice break from having to serve customers and still get paid . I'll be getting up early so I get back on here for a while. Considering taking my notebook to work with me, get longer break times at this job I may be able to make a couple of posts during lunch, they would have internet access.
Talk to you all soon!
