I remember reading the Aid book through from Aaron to Zuzim and thoroughly enjoying it. Anyone else with similar memories?

i just wanted to make one simple statement... i've heard many say that they can't get out of this bull, they just faded so they wouldn't have to deal with all the issues that are sure to arise if they use confrontation.
many have said they can't stand to lose family members and the like and that's why they've chasen to fade rather then speak out.

I lived through the turbulent Civil Rights struggle, and I witnessed different styles of protest. Some, like you dawg, had an in-your-face attitude. Others were the quiet, unassuming protesters, but protesters no less. There are different ways of fighting. I take the low road now because my daughter is still in the WTS. However, I put my foot down when it came to her going to college. The same if she ever needs a blood transfusion.
The WTS is a deceptive organization and is built on sand. I make it a priority to tell all who know me that I have left and have no intention of going back. I live in a small community and most of the people like and respect me a lot. They have all expressed their happiness that I have broken free. One pastor of a Baptist church gave me a great big hug right in front of everybody!!!

i'm beginning to tackle the book of jasher.
it's mentioned twice in the bible - joshua and 2 samuel - so i decided to check it out.
while it may not be considered to be inspired in the traditional sense, it fills a lot of gaps in the bible narrative.

While it may not be considered to be inspired in the traditional sense, it fills a lot of gaps in the Bible narrative. For instance, I've often marveled at the outstanding faith of Abraham. The Book of Jasher sheds some light on this by showing that Abraham was taught the Way by none other than the venerable Shem. In fact it states that Shem and Melchizedek are one and the same!
It's like I'm reading the Bible again for the first time. Just thought I would share this with my cyber friends.

Thx bigdreaux and anony-mouse. I don't watch television much, but Family Guy is one show that caught my attention. The writing is good, albeit a bit racy. Since leaving the WTS I have a lot of catching up to do.

So sorry to hear that. Here's to you and yours (((((((()))))))). I have those days from the 1st to the 10th of each month. I call it my pseudo-PMS time. My kids and grandkids know enough to stay out of my way. It's all good - the sun also rises.

the jw lady i work with went to summer convention last week and the following days were pure sheeeeite.
all week i could hear her a row over trying to fill everyone with her crazy spirit.
i could not find my mp# until thursday and by then i was totally pissed off.
I work with one who's right down the hall from me. One day she's shouting and cussing everybody out and the next day she's got her Bible and other theocratic material. I tell you all, she's a time bomb waiting to go off. Is it just me, or does it seem that in the last few years the Witnesses have become downright malevolent? There's a coldness to them, an evil spirit? that is very unsettling. Whatever it is, the Spirit of the Lord Jesus is definitely missing.

I have been meaning to thank you for your Comments You Will Not Hear ... series. You put into words the things I used to think in my heart during those hard-to-stomach WT studies. I remember one study when the duties of a watchman were under discussion. The magazine made the point that a sudden noise, the wind blowing, things like that might make a watchman nervous and skittish. They were trying to justify their sounding so many false alarms.
I remember thinking to myself that if a true watchman had sounded as many false alarms as they had, he would have been relieved of his duties and stoned to death. But of course, I held my piece and went along with the flow. I didn't know at the time that cognitive dissonance was the term for what I was experiencing.
Please keep giving us our spiritual food at the proper time

im only an interested one at the moment but as i surf around the net i keep seeing sites talking about false prophesies from the witnesses (dooms day etc) id like an unbiased opinion as to where i can get more info as the witnesses here in new zealand tell me they have never heard of them, thanks?

The WT organization is very deceptive. If I had known in 1973 what I know now, I would never have joined it. I am a Black female from the Deep South; lived a deprived life as child of sharecropper parents; studied hard and earned good grades in school; graduated at the top of my class; but if I had found out those bastards were teaching in the past that Blacks were inferior in any way to their White asses, I would have told them where to stuff their teachings.
I found all of this while researching on Freeminds. It nearly blew my mind! I have a suspicion the no-blood doctrine was formulated because of their fear that they could receive blood from a Black person. I may be wrong about this, but given their racist history, nothing would surprise me.
I am glad you did your homework. It's just as Jesus said, nothing hidden that will not be revealed. All praise to Him for delivering us from deception and falsehood.
