I used to be an extremist until I started paying close attention to my 7 grandkids.

Snowbird do you really get up that early? Early mornings are good because of the high adrenalin levels and the drive that produces but not that early.
Yep. Check the times I play JWD FunTrivia if you don't believe me.

Jesus is the answer!
by startingover ini hope it worked.
my intent with the title of this thread was to attract both believers and non-believers.
whenever a thread appears promoting the wonders of jesus, it will inevitably develop into a back and forth discussion ad nauseam.. i was born into a family that believed there was a god, he had a son jesus and his word was the bible.

I believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Savior of the world. I believed that before I became a JW. In fact, that is what caused me to leave the JW's. I felt as Mary Magdalene did - that they had taken my Lord away ...
However, I'm leery of those who are always spouting off, "I'm a Christian." The word Christian only appears in the Bible three times. Three!!! A similar occurrence with the word salvation. Our Lord only used the word salvation twice - both times to non-disciples. Can we take a hint or does it have to be a knockdown? It's not about words, it's about actions.
Anyway, before this turns into a full-scale rant, I will end by saying it is my personal opinion that the WTS has done its share of turning quite a few people away from Jesus. Ironic, isn't it?

Early morning between 3:00-5:00. I do my best thinking and reflecting at that time. Back in the day, when we had to rise early to get chores done before catching the bus to school, my internal clock was set to alarm around this time. It hasn't failed me yet.

RE-mythologising "God"?
by Narkissos incorollary to the often discussed religious shift from polytheism (including henotheism) to monotheism is a literary shift from mythology to theology.. mythology is essentially narrative.
the gods and goddesses are good story characters.
they act, and things happen to them.

I knew about JEHOVAH from reading the KJV, but I still distinctly remember the jarring shock of hearing the word on everyone's lips at my first visit to the KH.
It took some getting used to, but before long I was using JEHOVAH as if I were born doing it. It felt so good to see the smiles of approval as I was embraced by the congregation. I belonged! Before long the love affair had soured, however. I learned from whence the word JEHOVAH actually came. Once, during a lull in the book study, an elder queried if we could ask JEHOVAH one question, what would it be?
My answer was that my question would be, "What is the correct pronunciation of your name, and does it matter?" Need I say I received quite a few disapproving stares?
In keeping with your topic, I think the WTS opened a can of worms with their insistence on equating the use of JEHOVAH as a sign of one's acceptance by God.
