  First, this is a very well done documentary and I’m very happy it was made. I was personally shocked by some of its content too.

  That being said, I would’ve like the documentary to start with something like this:

  Jehovah’s Witnesses are good people who abhors pedophiles. Unfortunately, most of them are unaware that classified policies put in place by their leaders actually puts their children at risks while protecting pedophiles. This documentary will explore the content of these policies and how they have impacted several thousand people.

  I know they expressed this during the documentary, however, I wish that they had made it clear at the beginning so as to get the attention of the moderate JWs. When you start something by “JWs are doing this and that”, they all take it personal and switch the channel. If you name specific policies, they’re first thought will be: it is this policy that is under attack, not my religion/belief itself.

  If you're "anointed" don't seek out other "anointed" so says the Watchtower January 2020

  when i was affiliated with the witnesses, there were barely 6,000 who profess to be of the anointed remnant.

  i recently read somewhere that today there are over 20,000 who profess to be anointed.

  that figure may be more when you consider those who meet and partake privately for fear of the stigma of claiming to be anointed.

  I remember, a good while ago, they wrote in a Kingdom ministry that brother's should not form small groups to study the bible; that they should rely on the brother's in bethel to do this. That particular article had a severe impact in waking me up. Lets hope this artcile does this same to many JW in the cult right now.

  Before cutting my hair my witness barber had to check with Bethel...really? Not a cult?

  i was balding and grey so i asked my witness barber friend to "just shave it all off" many brothers were doing the comb over which looked friggin stupid.

  but oh no in the 1990's this was rebellious he had to call a brother we knew at bethel to see if it was ok. we got his ok to go ahead but at the time i could help thinking about the no beard rule and how controlled and cultish we were..

  Though this story may sound extream, I do remember that there was a brother that shaved his head as he was bolding and back in the 80s/90s. Even if he was a good guy and all, I remember he was frowned upon. Then, around the year 2000 where Bruce Willis started to shave his hair. All of a sudden, several respected brothers started doing it. It was ok now.

  SuperBowl 54: US Sports vs UK Sports

  so a few things .... apparently it's superbowl 54, and also the centennial of the sport.

  erm ... i'm not a mathematician, but aren't there 46 superbowls missing?.

  americans claim that uk sport ("soccer", aka real football) is too low scoring.

  I didn't like the performance for the half time show. Not that I mind the concept of pole dancing and not wearing much, its just that I didn't feel like the overall performance was well choreographed.

  In that style, I prefered Katy Perry. That being said, my favorite of all time: Prince! Sure, I liked Micheal Jackson, but he was lip syncing.

  following the trudeau government creating a special $600m fund for journalists to write nice things about him prior to the previous election, this week has also seen elections canada / the rcmp interview an independent journalist who wrote a critical piece about him and they've now announced that in future you'll need a special license, from the trudeau government, to be allowed to write news articles reporting on what the trudeau government does.. what.

  fuck.. those people who whine about the fiction that trump is some kind of dictator should look north and reflect - we're actually living it, it's real, he wants canada to be like china, because they are the country he most admires due to their "really great dictatorship" (his words, but not widely reported, see previous rules).. oh, and they want to take guns off law-abiding citizens, and also pledge to import millions of low-iq (violent & feckless) un immigrants.

  we'll be the last country to shut the border to coronavirus-carrying, live-animal eating, chinese plague-carriers because "diversity something something".. fuck you trudeau, you're a brainless piece of shit.

  i think it's closer to 5 million with all the selling of kingdom hells and branch bethel's all over the world.

  it's even hard to get a hard copy of the lastest craptower or afake mag now in new york city..

  They do report a decrease in many contries. As for meeting attendance, the majority of those who miss still believe and contribute to their religion. The ones that stop altogether are called innactives and taken off the reports. So, yeah, the numbers are accurate and frankly, 8.5 millions is not something to brag about.

  Imagine a sales rep braging about making one or two sales in over 30 years!! That's what the JWs are doing! After billions upon billions of hours in the field ministry, and just about the same in monney for producing all their teaching matterial, all they have to show for is an increase by 2.

  Worst: When you ask anybody on the street what JWs preach about, the majority won't really know much about them. Yeah, they knock on people's door and they don't take blood and celebrate christmas. But the "good news"? No idea. There message is not getting through. Considering the gigantic amount of investment they placed into this, the results are very disapointing.

  Many people leaving the JWs aren't doing great. Many of them even go crazy and fall into many troubles. Its normal, leaving such a religion/cult causes lots of heartache and turmoil and life is especially difficult at that time. Sadly, this is as much as JWs will keep track about you. How you were before you left and how you’ve been a little after. In that time of your life where you had it worst. Then, they lose sight of you due to their practice of ostracism.

  As a result, they fail to see that the majority of those who leave their group eventually get back up on their feet and live productive, fulfilling lives. They just assume you’ll go on living a hard life, assuming there is no other redemption to your situation than “returning to Jehovah”. Hence, when they see xJWs doing well many years later, it sends them in a corner where the only remaining option for their temporary sanity is cognitive dissonance.

  Not invited to congregation “get togethers”. They finally said it

  we don’t get many invitations to congregational social gatherings.

  we don’t attend midweek meetings and miss about 1/3 of sunday meetings.

  we go in service at least once a month.

  Quite frankly, I've been to at least 10 congregations and none of them would have done that, unless that person was marked. not being often enough in service is not being marked.

  Just being a JW is difficult, being in that congregation must be the worst!

  There are two scenarios I can think of here:

  1) He was disfellowshipped for something that should be allowed based on basic human rights. I'm thinking of the concept of disfellowshiping someone on the mear grounds that he associates with dissfellowshipped ones.

  2) He was disfellowshiped with the JWs failing to obey their own rules (I'd see this as an agreed upon contract). As some have pointed to on this site, you can be disfellowshipped for any reason upon which 3 elders agree and appel commitee rarely reverse the first judgement.

  Perhaps this is what happened here.

  While this will likely have no impact on how the members of the religion view him, this may bring about legal consequences for future members who will suffer the exact same scenario.
