What was the real reason why you joined the 'truth'?
by lfcviking inif you came out of the world (like myself), what was the main motivation why you joined/got baptised?.
was you genuinely disillusioned with the world and all of its badness and wanted real answers to why it was so?.
was you honestly convinced the world would one day be made into a paradise and wanted to be part of it?.

I joined because I thought it was the right thing to do.

Collegegirl is back! Woohoo! lol
When it comes to my children(if I ever have any), I would teach them what I believe but in the end I would want them to make their own decisions and not go a certain way just because I do so.

For any who were raised a JW...
by rache31 indo you find that most of the ones you grew up with left?
i looked around while still active and saw numbers dwindling from my generation.
i pioneered while in late teens/early twenties and several from my class that were friends of mine left years ago.

Most of the ones around my age that grew up in the religion as well left before I did. I'm one of the last in my age group locally to walk away from it.

Requeim for a friend
by RollerDave ini counted on you, and every day you came through.
helping me start my day and face another set of challenges in this hard life of herding cats.
i fell back on you when it was tough and you never failed to pick me up.. you were usually the first thought on my mind when waking up, and the first thing i would do was laughingly push your buttons.. but it's been tough lately, i could sense there was something wrong.

Our CO says..."women in the workplace...a Satanic plot!"
by sir82 inour co came galloping into town this week.
in his tuesday talk, these were his comments (not word for word, but more or less):.
"i imagine one of the biggest problems in your territory is not-at-homes.

To be honest, sometimes I feel sorry for Satan. Every little thing that doesn't go their way is put on Satan. If only the religion would realize that the cold-calling method just doesn't work they'd save alot of trouble. Christendom has more considerable increase when you compare the two, yet they are constantly using other methods to get the message out.
As for more women in the workforce now, I guess it would be easy for JWs to place the blame on women actually having to enter the workforce. He does control the economy since the world belongs to him. Oh, but wait....I guess they forgot about all the single women and mothers that HAVE to work.

Witnessing to a Witness
by yuxist inhello i found this site while researching jws.
my motive is simply to reach out to those in the organization.
not by going after them but rather responding to them when they show up at my door.
-
R.F.
You need to realise they will have all the answers and NOT ALL witnesses have doubts, some do, others blindly follow and believe it is the truth no matter what - you will not be able to reason with these ones.
Agreed. Even if some did have doubts about doctrine, they wouldn't listen since they are taught to put all doubts on the backburner until Jehovah straightens things out.
If you come across the right JWs, it can be an effort that is worth it. Be prepared for most not to listen though.

Why all the changes?????
by seek2find inin my life time as a witness, there have been many changes and there are still more to come.
like the "generation" change in the feb study edition of the wt.
my question is this.
-
R.F.
The organization is the primary thing -- not the doctrine. Whenever it suits the interests of the organization, old doctrine is flushed away like fecal matter, except they cannot hide it any more -- their old mistakes keep showing up in "Quotes" type of websites.
This is one thing that bothered me about the organization for a long time. It's almost like it's at the point now that someone becomes a JW but must accept the fact that their "beliefs are subject to change". What's the point of believing in any of the doctrine then to begin with? It truly is all about the organization and it's interests. R.F.

Is There Something Specific That U Regret Not Doing Because You Were A JW?
by minimus indid you want to belong to a social club but couldn't because it was "worldly" and witnesses don't get involved with the world?.
did you not go to college simply because witnesses say it's bad?.
did you deprive your kids of things because you were a "good jw"?.
-
R.F.
I often regret not keeping some of the friends that I had when I first became a very active JW.
Finishing college.
Fortunately, life goes on and i'm making new friends and running into old ones left and right seems like. I also plan on going back to college next year.
