Can psychic energy heal?
by kenpodragon inrecently i was watching a documentary on this woman who claimed that she could heal people with the power of her mind.
the documentary went into interviewing people about their experiences, and many of them actually had medical signs of improvement that could be documented and shown.
while watching this, i was seeing it as a example of psychic energy healing someone?

To all believers---You have traded in a mind control religion for another fantasy. The funny thing is, just a few years ago, you would have considered all this crap you believe in DEMONIZED.
The power of the mind is probably very powerful, but it's the power your mind uses and creates for your own body. To feel that when you die, you are going to sprout wings and go play with the angles must be a great feeling. And people are so scared crapless that when they die that they are going to just lie there and rot, that they all gather together and beg and grovel as they look up into the sky, and look around at each other, and reassure each other that they are true and correct.
The same for you maroons that believe that people can see the future or talk to the dead or heal the sick with the power of their mind. If there is any healing going on, it's the healing effect that the persons own mind is doing. Your mind probably can prolong your life, you know, will to live and all that. My grandparents are as old as dirt, but they wont die because they know armageddon is coming any day now.

I think I landed my dream job, y'all!!!
by LDH inok those of you that know me personally know that i sit on a ton of event committees, usually for non-profits benefitting kids.
yes, it is very rewarding but there is no paycheck.
this has not been an issue for us.

TTBoy- Right on brother. Except for one thing. I prefer my news and news shows coming from FoxNews, they tell it straight and like it is, that's why liberals can't stand FoxNews. Liberals have always had a monopoly on the news networks, such as ABC, CBS and NBC, and lets not forget CNN (Clinton News Network).

A question of race
by teejay insince i was a believer from the earliest of my memories, i spent my formative academic years not thinking or caring much about my future.
although 1975 (armageddon / the end of the world / jehovah's judgment) was still a year away, as a naive, dumbass teenager it was looming very large on my radar screen.
besides *that*, my best jw buddy got baptized in february of that year.

I'm also 44 yeard old, and I went through the same experience in school. I couldn't care less about studying, I had forever and a day to learn everything I needed to know when Armageddon came in 1975. It sounds stupid now, but it made sense to me when I was watching T.V. instead of studying.
When it came to finding work, I paid dearly for my lack of education. I worked my ass off working construction for many years, until I landed a job as a meter reader for P.G.& E. I worked the same route for years and I can tell you there were nice people and there were some real asswipes out there. They were the same people every month. Race never entered the equation in my mind.
My ex-wife, who is black, always saw race in any situation that didn't go her way. Whites and blacks have a totally different worldwiew. If I'm in a department store and a salesperson comes up to me while I'm browsing, I think it's great that I got such good service, but my wife would come home and relate the same situation and complain bitterly that the salesperson thought she was giong to steal something so that's why she came over and asked her if she needed help. Same situation, different reaction.
Along those lines, I don't have any black friends that have broken any traffic laws, every time they've been pulled over by a cop, it's because of the color of their skin. Every time I've been pulled over, I know I'm guilty, and I've got nobody to blame but myself.

My uncle Kinder is an elder in the local congregation there and my aunt and he hold out hope that I will come back to the flock some day. Their son Sam is my younger cousin, he asked me what I'm up to and I told him about work and this great site that I've found, JWD.
I told him about the information that I've found and tried to share a little bit of information with him. Brother, he exploded and said that he can't stand people that talk bad about Witnesses. My mistake, and I feel bad.
Sam, along with ALL of my cousins have had major problems. In large part, due to being brought up Witnesses. I can totally relate, only I have always worked for a living and for the most part kept my nose clean. But, I know why he and all my other cousins rebelled when they got into their teens, I lived the nightmare, I can relate.
Right now, the only thing that will straighten out his life is a very rigid social structure, such as the Witnesses provide. It's strange in a way, sometimes the cause is the cure.
I respect all you good Ex-Witnesses out there,

I remember when I was a kid, my mom used to take me to Emporium, and underneath the escalator, they had a candy counter. I would beg her to get me the pecan logs, they were fresh and salty pecans with fresh gooey caramel 'n' stuff inside. The stuff at the 7-11 isn't the same. I think when it comes to candy, if you happen to get it fresh, it's a thousand times better. Like with Butterfingers, once in a while you will get one fresh, one that hasn't been sitting in a warehouse or on a shelf for a month. The taste between a fresh Butterfinger and the one you usually find, is like night and day.
