Thanks so much, Gopher, for that research. Some memories from the 70's are a bit, shall I say, 'hazy'? Lol. I thought I remembered thinking that C&T stole that song from America - haha - what a steal, huh? Anyway, I liked their rendition better than anything that ever came from the Captain and his Tennille. It's a silly song - but cute!

if the 'new light' on 'generation' discussed earlier is accurate then it certainly will move me to continue on in my ministry.. i was slacking off because i thought the preaching work was near complete without growth!
now i can be confident that in 10 or 20 years the society will simply announce that a new batch of brothers have started partaking, the generation will continue and it is a sign that jehovah has provided more time for people to come into the truth!.

W 15. Feb. 1927, p. 62 Question: In Matthew 24:34 Jesus said: "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." What did he mean by "this generation" ? Answer: It could hardly be said that he meant any human being living on the earth at that time. He was giving testimony concerning things that were to transspire at the end of the world. That was a long way off. No generation of the human race has ever existed as long as a thousand years. It follows then that Jesus must have meant something else. What could he have meant ? At the Jordan Jehovah started a new generation, a new creation, of which Christ Jesus is the Head. Jesus selected twelve disciples, who were with him for three and one-half years. Eleven of these we have every reason to believe constitute a part of that new creation. In 1 Peter 2:9 the apostle, speaking to the church of course, referred to those who are faithful. The irresistible conclusion therefore is that Jesus referred to the new creation when he said: "This generation shall not pass until all these things be fulfilled." This then would be a strong indication that some members of the new creation will be on the earth at the time of Armageddon.

If I'm not mistaken... I first heard 'Muskrat Love' on an America album, early 70's - anyone else? I may very possibly be losing my mind, gradually, synapse by frizzelling synapse... haha
Never really liked them much. I thought they were over the top 'buble gum'. He seemed to lack any personality at all and she way overcompensated for that fact. Anyone remember the TV show they had for one season? Sonny and Cher they were not, but the music was a little infectious. I mean, come on - who can take offense to furry little muskrat critters inlove? LOL.
I was more into rock then - Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Ted Nugent, Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, Bob Dylan, BlackOak Arkansas, 38 Special, Rush, Nazareth, Pink Floyd, J. Geils Band... Heart, Reo Speedwagon, Frank Zappa, ZZ Topp, Joe Walsh, Jackson Brown - my taste varied wildly, but always rock. Saw THE rock 'n' roll legend himself, Chuck Berry, in '72 - that was wild! Of the many concerts I went to, he, ZZTopp and Joe Walsh are my favorites.
I kinda like country rock nowadays.

We were invited to dinner one time at some friend's ----- they served ground hog. They'd floured and fried the pieces, then oven-baked it in gravy till done. I felt like Mrs. Drysdale on the Beverly Hillbillies ------ "Oh! Milburne!" and nearly fainted! Anyway, not wanting to be rude, I tried it. Not bad, all dark meat reminiscent of a tough cut of beef, and kind of greasy for such a small critter. I've eaten venison on several occasions - best cooked in tomato juice to rid it of that 'wild taste' - but duh, it's a wild animal! Tried fried rabbit once ---- they called it 'city chicken' but I don't know why --- maybe the cut pieces look like chicken pieces? Dunno, but I could easily be a vegetarian if that's all that was on the menu! Pass the bean sprouts, please!
Those chocolate-covered ants reminded me ---- My Dad worked in an office and his secretary was always good-heartedly snatching candy off his desk. He found these individually wrapped chocolate-covered insects and displayed the box, hiding the lid that told what was in them. There were baby grashoppers, bees, ants - I don't remember them all now. So his secretary sampled several - then Dad turned the box lid up so she'd see it ---- he cracked-up as he watched her face turn green while she read the ingredients! She made a fast trip to the ladies room to barf, poor girl! Lolol. Dad was a real jokster all right, and his secretary left his candy alone after that - haha!

yes, as far as jehovahs witnesses are concerned, apostates are evil, wicked, faithless liars.. i was wanting to ask - assuming most if not all who come here are in the jw category of apostate, how do you feel about the fact that you are portrayed in such a light by the org?.
i will be the first to admit - i always thought that those who criticized the org were untruthful or exaggerating.
its not until now i have considered what you guys have to say and how you feel that i realize that what you have to say is all truthful (tinged with a bit of anger perhaps).. personally i think its verging on character assassination.
Sometimes I'll answer the phone 'apostate ranch, can I help you?'
I get an enormous kick out of it, but then I AM an enormous apostate.
That is TOOOOO funny! My ex-husband would answer the phone, "Murphy's Mule Barn, this is the head ass speakin'." Hah --- wait --- he WAS! I would LOVE to have a bumper magnet that says "APOSTA-CRUISER" for my little car ---PLUS--- "Ask me WHY I'm NOT a Jehovah's Witness"! ROFLMBO!
You have to allow yourself some time to find a sense of humor about it. At first it angers you, especially if your faith is intact, because it's a LIE. Soon you realize that it doesn't mean only what you once thought it meant & one definition is: 'apostate from the WTBTS', and the term becomes more acceptable over time. Then comes a point when you're able to embrace the term with a sense of accomplishment --- "Hell ,YEAH! I'm a complete apostate from that CULT!"
When I studied and was informed of these 'evil apostate's, I asked the sister why --- how in the world could someone who'd come to love God(ie:become a JW) ever just stop loving Him(ie:become apostate) --- and she said she just didn't know. It doesn't make sense, but because of the way we were all taught lied to, it's as if 'apostates' are angry at God and turn their backs on Him. (God = the Organisation.)
I feel like 'dobbie' --- I forgive them their little words - they do me no harm. It was an invaluable lesson on trust, & I'm grateful ---NOW--- for the experience. It has only made my faith in God & Christ Jesus stronger and more firmly rooted. I've also found that no matter how unloving this slander may be, I can't be bitter towards my former 'friends'. I DO have empathy that they're still trapped.. My justifiable anger is properly directed at the corporation heads, not the people sucked into the illusion as I was. (But I didn't have a bad time at all, as some have had --- I would've felt VERY differently if my daughter was molested by a concealed paedo-brutha.[Silent Lambs hits me HARD])
I'm confident that in SPITE of 2000 years of religious dogma, ALL who love God will have their eyes opened in His & their own time.

So.... These things you were under oblgation to do, but those other things not to omit.
Which means --- [other] is a totally unnecessary addition for understanding the context. However, it is a VERY necessary addition if you're trying to uphold WT doctrine. The other [other] that is as troubling, or more so, is at Phillipians 2:9: For this very reason also God exalted him and kindly gave him the name that is above every [other] name... It's an[other] (lol) spurious addition that doesn't occur in the Greek Interlinear. Just the kind of manipulation you'd expect from a cult.

Blues Brother - I haven't been to a meeting for 6 years. I'm asking with hope --- did you get the slightest hint from ANYone that they might be getting a clue about ANYthing?
Had a vist from some elders a while back that made me wonder. One of them, I swear, was speaking from something he'd memorized and prolly said "Faithful And Discreet Slave" and "obedience" 50 times, usually in the same sentence. Totally assimilated! The other was more thoughtful, but had no answers to my deep(HAHA) questions. I thought I saw a glimmer of something in his eyes that might've been a question mark, unspoken. It gave me some hope. There are some extraordinary people at my old hall, and my hope for all of them is that they escape alive.
There was a long period of time that I was reluctant to label the WTS a cult - but why else would they be so, as you said, "dead from the neck up"? The fact that people at your study read and answered with no feelings or emotions means that they're on 'auto-pilot', disconnected from the words. [the Armageddon'sGonnaGetYa doctrine is one that might cause the most dissonance. I know I wasn't the only one that didn't ever really believe that one, even though I was told by a 'householder' that he'd never heard a JW besides me say that God won't destroy everyone other than JW's. hmmm. But anyway - they go back and forth on this one so much it has to break your mind at some point. They DO teach it, but when asked by a non-JW, they DENY they ever "really said that" or "no, no, we really don't believe that". Maybe it's spiritual warfare --- another huge pinnacle in that mountain range of dissonance, impo.]
The unraveling of the WT web begins, imo, with that dissonance, so maybe there's hope for the opiated, dominated masses?
Please tell me --- what do you personally see and feel at the meetings about this? Gimme some hope, man.
