RK was on this board many years ago as 'youknow'. With a little research you'll find his rhetoric has changed very little over the years... that happens when you begin with a false premise and stick with it. And he's still waiting for that 'October surprise'... classic.

Bible Prophecies
by Suspicious infor those that don't think the bible is the word of god, how do you disprove the prophecies recorded in the bible?
even for those that agree with the world of god, what makes you believe the prophecies are true?
looking to hear both sides of it..
-
Watkins
Most bible prophecy relates to Christ, imho, and most definitely does NOT apply to the wt in any age; in any way, shape or form.
If it's a true prophecy, then it'll happen whether anyone believes it or not. Since a prophecy isn't revealed as true until it actually happens, I don't go about trying to prove or disprove people's opinions or theories, I say - let's just see what happens. Saves a lot of useless bantering about what might, possibly, could happen, lol.

There was an elderly couple who used to send me relevant articles with things underlined that I "might enjoy". He died 2 yrs ago. :( And she must've moved on from hoping I'd return to the kh. Aside from them, no jws care about me anymore, lol. YAH! It's a relief to NOT receive wt 'counsel' in the mail or wts stuck in the door - but I really do miss that couple - wonderful folks.

The two-tiered Christian system. WHY?!
by DATA-DOG inthe wtbts asserts that the great crowd of [ other sheep ] teaching arose as an answer to the confusion of the rank-and-file, correct?
what confusion?
does anyone know any specifics?
-
Watkins
The 'little flock' were the Jews and 'the other sheep' were the Gentiles. Jesus said he would draw them together into 'one flock with one shepherd' and all his sheep would know his voice. Paul said there was 'one hope, one baptism, one Lord'.
Where, watcher, are you getting 2 different destinies?

On What Date Did Watchtower Have THE TRUTH?
by OnTheWayOut inif a jw tries to gather you back to the flock or debate with you, try these questions:.
on what date did the watchtower arrive at the truth?.
(a sharp jw will try to be fuzzy.

Yeah, right - NEVER!
I love scully's answer -
Whenever Joseph Rutherford said "Religion is a snare and a racket." That date.
Does the wt still believe and teach that one? There was a time when the wt didn't call itself a religion, so that slogan was apt. But it acquiesced with its NGO status in order to deal with legal matters in foreign countries - it had to prove itself a viable Christian religion. (It isn't; they lied.)
I remember subtle changes in tone throughout the 90's when I was in, and at some point they finally came out of the religion closet.
I wonder if they still own that quote...

Prince ask George Lopez to study the Bible with him. So So funny!!
by jam inon the tv show the view today, george a guest on the show stated,.
prince approached him and ask to have a bible study, george said.
hell yes.

Sherri Shepherd on The View was raised as a jw and now lists her religion as "Christian/former Jehovah's Witness".
Would be great if she knew ttatt and drew George aside to let him know... and then if he, being Prince's friend(evidently), implored Prince to reseach EVERYthing about his new religion and 'not let Satan prevent him from knowing the truth'! If Prince knew, like we do, about all the failed prophecies, revised history, unbiblical beliefs, UN, Silent Lambs, etc., etc. - - - he'd be a wonderful advocate for TTATT! Anyone remember when he stated, "I was lied to!" in his interview on the Rosie O'Donnell show? If I remember right, that was all about the cross/stake thing when he first started studying. If he found out how much the wt has lied to him, he'd probably freak on 'em and go very public about it.
I was just thinking this the other day, that it'll take someone relatively famous to speak out against the wt corp., to bring a high level of public awareness... Some jws would think it was just 'persecution', but many, no doubt, would research for principle's sake. I felt 'The Truth' had nothing to fear and it would stand on it's own merits - how right I was!
Anyway... would be great if that happened. I hope it happens. I can dream.

What are your feelings about U S Supreme Court DNA ruling?
by Glander inwashington -- a narrowly divided supreme court ruled monday that police can collect dna from people arrested but not yet convicted of serious crimes, a tool that more than half the states already use to help crack unsolved crimes.. this dna sample will of course go into a huge database similar to fingerprints.. .

I don't like it and think it's an invasion of our citizens' rights... but those have recently changed, so I don't know what's what anymore.
On the other hand, I can see the benefit of solving cold cases. I'm not a criminal so I won't let it worry me worry me... much.

Tech49 on HOURS, TIME, and REPORTS
by Tech49 ini thought i would share some of my observations on counting field service time, reports, etc.
and how those reports are viewed, to those that are still so fixated on numbers.. i served as secretary on the service committee for many years, and have seen it all!.
i was really disheartened when wt changed the requirement for aux pioneering to allow for 30 hrs, instead of the 50 it has been for so long.

Great post, Jack! I'm looking forward to hearing more!
2 Scriptures I keep in mind on this subject:
Ecclesiastes 12:12 But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of manybooks is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body.
2 Corinthians 3:1 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some, letters of commendation to you or from you? 2 You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; 3 being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.
When having a discussion about 'turning in time' with 2 elders, I reminded them of the 2 Cor. 3 verse above. They said, 'well, yes, the Bible does say that about not needing commendations, BUT it's such an encouragement to know how many hours the b/s are out there preaching!' First of all, they're NOT preaching the Good News by any means. And second, I was NEVER encouraged by high pioneer hours - quite the opposite. I felt horrible that, by those standards and under my circumstances, I simply wasn't able to give 'my all' for Jehovah. When I later found out it was only the corporation for which I'd worked, I felt much better - encouraged, even!
You're absolutely right, it's about pride and ego and status - just like all other religions. No different, same-same-same.

Ok so my best friend fully knows TTATT and her JW parents have been inactive for years- why the hell does she still go to meetings!?
by Julia Orwell inshe knows the religion is a lying, pedo-sheltering, man-made, self-serving institution and she's disgusted by the hypocrisy of the local brothers and sisters who treat her like a pariah because she's a disabled single mum whose 17 year old son has long hair and a beard.
oh and her jw parents are split up and have been inactive for years.
her kids have little interest in jws as none of the other jw kids ever want to associate with them and it's been that way for years.. so why is she still going to meetings when her disability allows her?!

Strange, isn't it, that the mind-warp indoctrination is THAT strong in some - even if they know ttatt they STILL feel 'there's no where else to go'. Everyone un-learns at a different rate, too - maybe she just needs more time. Continue to show her your unbiased friendship, all the while showing her there IS a good and FREE life outside of the borg. You're probably her best example!
Best to you, Julia

Did anyone hear have trouble because of their wit?
by Band on the Run ini don't recall self depracation or witty remarks within the witnesses.
everything was always so heavy.
i suspect that a person with wit, despecially dry wit, would find themselve in trouble.

Yes, I was the giggly one, always getting 'looks'... ahem.. should've acted in a more appropriate manner.
Some in my old kh had a fine sense of humor - one time the PO turned it around on me in front of the study group.
me: Oh, John, you're so full of it your eyes are brown!
him, with a sly smile: Oh yeah? Just what is the "it" that I'm full of?
me, turning red:...... *silence* then the whole room broke into laughter - I wouldn't have said "it" if I'd had a mouth full of "it", lol.
I look for the humor in things. I believe God has a great sense of humor.
This is probably one of those things that's just as varied as the people are, culture/geography. I couldn't have ever been a jw without laughter... and that helped me out, too, after the rage subsided.
