Why We Can Hope for the End of the Watchtower

forgive me for starting a new thread - apart from the emerging news about child abuse settlements .

but i simply feel that, for all of us who have suffered persecution from the watchtower society, their.

end may now be in sight.

I am encouraged by the coming real estate crash. With all the subprime loan defaults, property values are going to go down, and possibly rather sharply. Even the ritzy property that the Watchtower Society holds is going to be affected to some degree.

With the property values down, they have only a finite amount of property to sell. And once that is gone, I don't know what they are going to do when all the pedophile and abuse suits hit them all at once. It looks like they are about to receive a balloon to pay, and I don't see how Nigeria is going to bail them out when this balloon comes due. If anything, donations in the USA are going to fall as people look at www.silentlambs.org and refuse to donate, or look at www.sixscreensofthewatchtower.com and refuse to even come into this crooked organization at all. Either way, they are going to get hit, and I'm not going to pay them even one penny.

They can sell out all they want. But, with the real estate price plunges ahead from all the subprime fallouts, I wonder if they are going to get full price for any of their holdings. Then there's the issue of what happens when they run out of property before they run out of pedophile suits.

Another thing two people who leave the Tower might have in common are the reasons why they left. It is very common for people in the Borg to discuss how they got the "truth": raised in it, a knock on the door, a tract, street work, a Witless employer or employee, etc. They might also discuss the things that they had to do in order to qualify to become a minister. One might have had to give up a romance; another, Christmas decorations; still another, smoking. And so on.

Once you are out, you might have similar common ground. You might discuss what crap you had to go through in the Tower. You might also have ground in what problem made you look to leave: it was impractical, children not doing well in school for late meetings, bad or changing doctrine, scriptural or organizational problems, mistreatment by the flock, and so much more. Then there is the issue of what finally made you decide to leave and how: getting disfellowshipped, disassociated, or faded. Finally, there is the issue of what you decided to resume doing once you left.

Anyone who had common ground in the "truth" is going to probably find even more common ground once they leave. There are so many excellent apostate Web sites, including this discussion board. There is Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz. Just staying on this board, even just lurking, is going to open your eyes to so many other possibilities. And it's so much more exciting here than going back there.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES AND JADE JEWELRY

i had to listen to jw craziness starting in 1960 when my mother started studying.

recently, i was reading paul and pat blizard's website and came across "101 strange beliefs and practices of jehovah's witnesses".

granted.......some of these beliefs have gone by the wayside because of bud light.... i mean new light!

Another fine example of where the Tower creates problems where none existed. Jade and wind chimes were supposed to protect people from demons (I guess they work, because no one who wears jade or has wind chimes ever gets attacked by demons. By the same token, www.sixscreensofthewatchtower.com protects people that look there from demons since I have never heard of anyone who visits that site ever being attacked by a demon.

In spite of the obvious non-sequitor, the Tower goes ahead and bans it anyway. Their view is that ONLY Jehovah is allowed to protect people from demons, and His protection (if there is even any) is contingent on so many things that all you get is Him controling everything you do. And He might just decide to be a Baghead and not provide the "protection(?)" in an attempt to extort even more concessions from people. At least the jade never asks its wearers to do ever more in the ministry in a vain attempt to gain its protection.

Almost vomited this weekend

well, i grabed the pile of shit watchtower mags my wife has been bringing home and decided to look through a few since i had some down time this weekend.

i haven't read one in years... jesus christ i almost vomited!!!!

Well, I think I got rid of all mine. My shredder made good work of them (it made confetti that should make good bedding for gerbils). They did tend to clog the shredder blades, though, and I could only make two bags of confetti (one bag=a grocery plastic bag full) at a time before cooling the shredder. That project took about a month, but at least I will have an apartment that's Watchtower free.

Kinda reminds me of the situation when I had to throw away all my Christmas decorations, and found the other half of them about 2 1/2 years later. At least it didn't take me any 2 1/2 years this time.

The Governing Body must stop this wickedness & reproach NOW

the watchtower society said the following as part of their media statement concerning the recent multi-million dollar settlement of 16 child abuse court claims: .

and we will continue to do our utmost to protect children from this horrible crime and sin.

how utterly abysmal is the society's failure to follow their own advice.

I believe that the whole organizational structure is set up in such a way that true reform is impossible. Any member of the Governing Body that tries to put a stop to this bull**** and means it will be dealt with as Raymond Franz was. Lip service will continue to be paid to appease the governments. As it's the government's rightful duty to protect its citizens from initiatory force and fraud from these sources and this constitutes initiatory use of fraud, I believe that the sooner the organization is taxed out of business, the better.

Natural remedies

over the last year, i've been exploring the use of herbs and supplements...hey, i'm gettin' old, and i need all the help i can get!

so, here's what i've tried (in addition to general vitamin supplements like b, c, and some other selected minerals):.

I have heard a good many reports about how natural medicine is useless and delays "real" treatment. What they won't tell you is that "real" treatment is often just as useless. Notice that they say that if you survive 5 years after being diagnosed with cancer, that the "treatment" is a "success". They won't tell you that most people get cancer three or four times in our lives and don't even know they have it. Doing nothing cures 75-80% of cancer!

Yet the chemo guys will try to diagnose it earlier, when of course the patient is going to be more likely to live 5 years past diagnosis. Since the clock starts sooner, the five-year "cure" rate is going to be that much higher! In the meantime, you are putting all your hard earned money in the doctors, drug companies, and nursing homes. Often, the "cure" is worse than the disease. This is especially true with "diseases" like high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

It's true that herbs and vitamins often fail to clear up diseases. But, they will not set you up for additional diseases like regular allopathic medicine will. And often, when correctly used, herbs and vitamins will completely clear up (i.e., cure) diseases more often than allopathic medicine. I can only wonder how many people were killed or set up for worse diseases with snake oil!

If the Watchtower ceased to exist right now, what would this mean for you?

what would it change in your life right now if the watchtower fell apart and didn't exist anymore?.

maybe some would want to join another realigion right away, because they still believed a bit of what they preached and didn't want to join a false religion, just as the jw's brand all other religions..... .

Good riddance. That would serve them justice for the hours they spent keeping me from finding a wife, or even associating with the opposite sex. All men at service. Just meet men at a$$emblies. The brother (always a brother) with me making any lady at the door uneasy about me. And now I hope that it costs them huge amounts of money. And I hope those brothers who were involved in keeping me away from the opposite sex pay a huge price in emotional investments and all that work that they exerted to keep the Craptower Society alive as it all goes right down the toilet.

To help with that day, I recommend www.sixscreensofthewatchtower.com to anyone I find that is studying the Bible. That is a beautiful site that tells the whole truth about the organization, complete with actual Watchtower articles and scriptures to back it up. Usually, that kills the study.

Will JWs leave the org because of accelerated doctrine change?

looks like the wts is morphing into a totally diferent religion.

they are trying to get new converts any way they can at the same time they are trying to patch previous doctrine in an attempt to give the illusion of true prophecy.. hey wts, no matter what you do it won't work.

the 1914 date is pure fiction, so is 1918/19.

And, those who have been in the organization longer than 20 years are so set in their ways, that they don't know anything else.

This means I got out in the nick of time. No, I did not leave for doctrinal inconsistency because I would have fallen for that "new light" crap. It was the way they treated me: trying to make the opposite sex reject me at the assemblies so I would be "able to do more than myself plus kids". It is obvious that they were trying to pigeonhole me into a mathematically impossible situation, plus they wanted me to not succeed in finding a mate. That alone was a disassociation issue.

But I decided not to make it that easy for them. I snuck in the border between two congregations, and then started skipping meetings. Each congregation would think the other has the duty to hound me. If anyone called me, my Caller ID would alert me and I would just delete the message. Letters and Craptower magazines saw the business end of my shredder. And since they don't know I am online (I came online after my fade), they cannot spam me with emails. So, they are just going to have to continue wasting their time hunting for my service times (that are not there).
