the meeting consolidation was purley to "lighten the load" for elders.
at first the WTS said it was about gas prices, then it was about a new family study night. then why did they include gas prices in the infamous letter? because they were still coming up with a way to disguise the new elder retention plan....
i have an elder friend who is 'open-minded', so to say...he tells me what gets discussed at elder meetings, even though he does'nt give too much detail.. he says that they were instructed by the society not to hurry df'ing publishers, that they should try to reproof (1 timothy 3: 16,17) a sinner,,..that they should be a little considerate bearingf in mind that we are living in critical times of the end.. .
personally i know a few publishers(baptized or not) who now have children out of wedlock, and they were just "marked" or had privileges taken away..... the reason given is: "they realised that they have sinned, and they are fully repented, they gave enough evidence to jc that they want to be known as jw's".
now my question is : are they slowly doing away with the df'ing doctrine?.

at first i thought this was just another pointless discussion but there are some good points here. I think the main point is that way DFing happens will change but the ultimate end is shunning. We see it already!
The WTS no longer DF's in announcement - "no longer a JW" , then we see the move to bring back inactive ones by offering a study - if they refuse? We all know this will turn into official WTS policy that those faders that do not accept an offer to return will be announced "no longer a JW"
Eventually the WTS will never officially DF anyone - all R&F will "know" that one has, by their own actions, chosen to no longer be a JW. Without having to police the R&F, the WTS can sit back and let the R&F do all the shunning while the WTS shakes hands with politicians.
the R&F will police themselves. The WTS will never have to inflict a punishment on anyone, they just need to "associate" the unwanted with those who are not JW's and let the R&F police themselves. Like crabs in a bucket........
hey guys its been a long time since i have posted but there was something i wanted to share that i had found and get peoples opinion.. in massachusetts south worcester county you can search real estate transactions from the past 40 years on a website called www.masslandrecords.com.. i was checking the history on the property at 700 worcester st southbridge , mass in worcester county which is the location of the kingdom hall.. it looks like from the records that the hall was first mortgaged back in the 60's by the wbts and then again in the early 80's by the wbts but then in the later 80's by mechanics bank which became bank boston.
that all makes sense.. the curious part is that in the 90's it looks like they expanded the property with the owners of the property being the southbridge kingdom hall corp but the mortgage of 60,000 was held by a member of the congregation.
i did a little more digging and it looks like this wealthy congregation member actually did a few mortgages over the years for other cong members for thier own houses.. has anyone ever heard of a cong member mortgaging a kingdom hall or other members?.
no persons are getting rich off the org. The org itself just keeps getting richer. It is very good at making money. We all know the cong pays for the KH and then gives it to the WTS if it is ever dissolved.
the WTS loans the cong their own money back - remember the letter about excess cong funds? Dont keep it in the bank, let the WTS hold it for you and when you need it we'll give it back. But of course only after having loaned it out at interest to other cong's who pay for their KH and then hold it for the WTS and pay all the bills and insurance until the time comes the WTS wants it.
the WTS staying rich ensures the FDS many years of living with ultimate power - albeit in a tiny bethel apartment....

i listened through the lates download wt, june 15, 2009. www.jw.org there is an article: the faithful steward and its governing body.. this article makes it clear that new anointed will not be consulted in preparing spiritual food.
other sheep are also told in other words not to listen to the opinion of new anointed in the congregations.. .
