  the move to Patterson (another self contained farm setup just as other cults)....

  wow, i actually never really made that connection! It is a "branch Davidian" of sorts isnt it?

  Although I thought they were selling the WT Farms and just purchasing food now..........

  the only thing I could see happening is a major country banning JW's and seizing assets or major disaster happening that would cripple the org.

  Problem is, the org has essentially prepared for this by spreading their assets all over the globe and moving out of terrorist target NY City

  If a major fire destroyed Patterson, then Germany/Mexico would take over the helm. If Europe banned JW's, then NY continues to reign supreme and Euro JW's flock to Americas.

  If a cracked out WTS Hater decides to run into Patterson guns blazing or drive a tractor-truck full of Deisel and Fertilizer into the factory/housing complex, then again, it moves to Europe/Mexico.

  Any of these events would trigger a major response by the org of persecution and testement of Jehovahs approval due to attacks by Satans org.

  Having said that, the single greatest threat the org. has today is taxation. this threat is real, and could happen in France. If this practice were to spread and the world saw what they are worth, other countries would want their peice of the pie also. Taxation would create a major shift in WTS operations and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind they are already preparing for it.

  My Pioneer Wedding =Didn't get much money/gifts from invited Brothers!

  didn't have much money...everyone wanted to come, so i reluctantly invited many.

  we had lots of good food and nice bottles of wine, white and red.

  so it cost a bit to set up....my soon to be wife said: "don't worry, your a pioneer, i'm sure the brothers will be generous with their gifts!

  when we left for our honeymoon and Witness guests began leaving, they grabbed whatever wine bottles and drinks were not opened to take home???!!!!

  now i KNOW your telling the truth!!

  Do all JW's everywhere do this???? I remember a relative getting a cheque for $30 from a well-to-do elder in our KH at his wedding. He and his wife had dinner and free drinks!

  I even got a laundry basket full of crap that a bro got at his wedding and didnt want. ie: picture frames, light bulbs, etc. it was rediculous.

  I for one always give cash now, and people always gasp when I tell them how much. maybe I just like to see peoples reactions. And I know the father of the bride always treats me extra special after. Consider this, a non-relative JW just gave your daughter more cash than her cheap chincy JW elder uncle. How would you feel?

  I do realize that I am demented from being raised as a JW and focusing on the end of the world and having just drank a 12 pack of natural Ice

  a breath of fresh air my friend! we are messed up. to here someone express this way and proudly cap it off with a 12 pack makes me think I have many friends out there I have yet to meet.

  IF the end was really really here, they'd do no more construction or any longterm planning for conventions

  dont you know? they are going to need these buildings in the new system! they are planning for new system living right now!

  Think of the millions of resurected ones that will need to be taught about Jehovah! Can I use any more exclamation marks?!!!!!

  i've commented offhandedly about this subject a number of times in the past, but it is worth discussing because it speaks volumes about the jw religion and the cognitive dissonance that is endemic to it.. dubs are never satisified with their "current light.

  " they weren't satisfied four decades ago when i was active, and they are not satisified now.

  they won't come out and say that of course, but we all know it is true.

  i may be wrong but I dont think the the WTS actually prints the term "light" or " new light" in the mags anymore. The WTS conductor says it, and the R&F say it in their comments, but new points arent actually called out as new light. Although i am sure they stick the scripture in their somewhere in brackets.

  This phrase has become a potential nightmare for the org. as it implies "special insight" to the org & FDS yet the org has clearly said that the annointed do not have special insights anymore so than the great crowd.

  I think you will see a shift away from this terms "official" use, but the CO's & DO's will not discourage their use by R&F. this way they can, in typical JW/WTS/GB fashion, have it both ways.

  Good point about flocking to DA's for new light..... I wonder if any psychiatrists here can explain this phenomenon. This is so true, even us JWDers love New Light!!

  Do you exercise or isn't that your thing.

  for the last 5 and 1/2 weeks i have been at the gym mostly twice a day except saturdays - i only have one training session.

  each of my sessions is at least an hour long but can go for two hours.

  i do various cardio in the evenings and do strength training in the morning.

  i used to hit the gym daily. i now go 2 - 3 times per week.

  I would like to lose 20 pounds but I have benefited from the past years of hard lifting and I have maintaned a muscular build. I am as strong now as I have ever been even though I only go a couple times per week.

  My advice to anyone is start young. Your body heals faster and later in life you wont have to work so hard to progress. The work is behind you.

  Loubelle, you will have more energy all the time. You will also start to wonder why friends of yours dont excersise and they will get annoyed with you if you bring it up too often ! ;)

  anyway, good for you. Anything to help build self-esteem is important. Excercise and physical fitness is probably the single best thing a person can do to build confidence.

  For an ex-JW that could save your life!
