  i don't feel like i am a mindless robot and i resent the implication.. most jws try their sincere best when it comes to practising godly devotion, but isn't the 1000 yr. reign supposed to unroot all our bad tendencies?.

  here in new york and across the usa racial tensions between 'blacks and whites' are very strong.

  for some of that to spill into our brotherhood is natural.

  Absolutely not! However, if a Christian needs the paycheck, or believes their Godly way of life is threatened by 'heathens', one has the option to pray for forgiveness to absolve oneself of responsibility for their actions.

  i moved to my current location, a house in a quiet, friendly, family-oriented neighborhood, in july of this year.

  i've been here five months.

  i'm usually home on saturday mornings and sunday afternoons.

  I haven’t had a dub knock on my door for years and after that one time, they never made that mistake again.

  What do you think the reasons were for Jehovah's Witnesses no longer stopping by? If you acted harshly, overbearing, etc. towards them when they visited, do you think your attitude was helpful?

  Personally, I like the tactic when I meet a couple who've separated from the car group in the distance and are walking down the drive, I begin with, "...why, you folks don't look familiar. Are you lost? Can I help you find your way?"

  Depending on who's visiting, with an opening line like that...let the games begin.

  what do you regret not doing before you left the "truth" for good.. some of us who have families still in have our hands tied as to what we could have done.. is there anything you would have done differently looking back.. also those who are dissasociated do you now wish you werent so you could have more accsess to friends and family?

  Knowing what I know now, I would rather have created some controversy within the congregation in the secondary effort to Awaken! others some day, than to have quitely walked away.

  It probably wouldn't have had much effect on any one other than my immediate family. However, by doing so may have allowed me to empower myself to shed the Watchtower brainwashing sooner.

  the vast majority of Americans would also benefit from ending their government's policy of protecting and promoting corrupt repressive dictatorships.

  If only ones perspective were that simple, perhaps current 'western' policy towards the 'third world' is a necessary evil until benevolent dictatorships show up, i.e. Titoism.

  jehovah's witnesses are under a type of ban in windsor on canada .

  The Watchtower speakers, at the summer convention in Kitchener ON, called it "misrepresentation of our message".

  If this event actually did happen, a more accurate statement should have been, "misrepresentation of our marketing".

  What's so special about Thanksgiving?

  so whats so special about thanksgiving?

  to me this is a relatively new holiday custom mainly for not being american more than being a jw.

  the problem i gather with witnesses and celebrating thanksgiving is that it is a national holiday and as a result is a patriotic holiday with a tradition steeped in american history.

  Speeking(sic) about shit, look at Ray Franz and James Penton books.

  I heartily agree Fred. The level of WTBTS indiscretions made available to the public by just these two authors is astounding.

  However, the Society continues to produce the Watchtower, Awake! and other obscure publications...loudly and abundantly.

  how many of you still believe in god after your experience of the watchtower?

  do you believe in a different god than the one of the org.

  one who won't destroy somebody just because he wasn't in the good religion.

  The invention of 'God' was probably the Neanderthal's way of understanding and coming to terms with genetic deficiencies and/or social deviates within their environment.

  Mankind has simply perpetuated the myth because for most, thanks to the 'identification' of 'deviate' behavior, guilt and insecurity has been culturally ingrained into the Psyche. For others, 'God' can be lucrative when a 'True' interpretation is used as a controlling mechanism.

  My...we've come a long way.
