by Ranchette inthis year i have learned so much and what i keep being taught repeatedly through experience this time instead of what someone tells me, is that much of what the society taught us about the world and many of the things in it is pure nonsence!.
i'm just giving one example for now even though there are many.. my son who is in elementary school has over a period of time expressed a desire to do something extracurricular.. oh the shame!!!.
now out of all the different things out there we chose karate.. jws frown on this because its a form of self defence, a competitive sport and they have labeled it and all martial arts in fact as demonized.. he is learning shotokan karate.he loves it and not one demon or demonized thing has happened so far and never will.. in fact i like what they are teaching my son.. this saying is on the wall of the school or dojo,.

I'm Becoming a Hypnotherapist!

i went to a hypnotherapist in the past, and found it helpful.

As long as the youngster doesn’t compromise weekend ‘field service’.
I find it absolutely appalling that Brooklyn would frown upon anyone standing up to use a microphone and displayed lyrics to entertain yourself or others by singing your heart out while accompanied by taped music.
Simply dreadful…speaking of dreadful, after all isn’t the singing done almost the same way at conventions!

The War of The Elders: Dubs & $$$
by Mindchild ini thought i would take time today to share a true story of what happened in my own jw family as i was growing up as a dub that puts the spot light on what money starved dubs are willing to do when it comes to money issues.. both of my grandparents on both sides and my parents were dubs.
when i was growing up we were never well off financially thanks to the constant harping that armageddon was near at hand and that my father should only work just long enough to make enough money to barely get by as jehovah would provide (yeah, right).
to make ends meet in our large family, my mother used to work by taking in older people who would otherwise need to be spending their last days in a nursing home and we typically had two or three people stay with our family until got to the point where they needed to be in a hospital, and often died soon thereafter.

One distinct advantage Brooklyn has over competing religious organizations is the lack of evidence for significant financial benefit towards their own community of needy Jehovah’s Witness, let alone the ‘soon to be biblically doomed' world community at large, relative to the amount of governmental tax largesse that provided the catalyst for the corporations’ accumulation of wealth in the first place.
It’s my understanding that the intent behind governmental tax breaks given to religious organizations was to allow the latter to take the greater financial responsibility because they're supposed to be more sensitive at providing for the special needs of their religious and surrounding conventional communities than sterile governments of the day.
As mindchilds’ experience illustrates, I wonder if the WTBTS is actually the corporate social citizen they paint themselves using their own publications or are they simply using their tax-free status as a 'cash cow' more blatantly than others of their sort.Unless of course, you think the acquisition and husbanding of corporate real estate via ‘educational’ centers in picturesque locations at the expense of rank and file Jehovah’s Witnesses ‘on the brink’, is their corporate idea of displaying a social conscience.

...they hope no one notices that their standard depiction of the onset of Armageddon is a jet plane crashing into a New York skyscraper.
Astute editorial by Bates considering he's never had the experience of being a Jehovah's Witness, but before I compliment the editor through email, anybody know what is meant by the above statement?
Although I'm aware that the WTBTS uses depictions of destruction as a useful motivator for association and purchasing their publications, I'm not aware of them illustrating jet planes crashing into New York as a standard.
Can anyone discribe even one example?

The time-line previously provided puts a decidedly positive spin on the discovery of blood circulation and development of blood transfusion. However, what is missing, just as with many modern scientific interests, there may have been frequent reports of experiments gone awry. The early results of that radical medical handy work may not have looked at all promising to the non-professional as a method of prolonging ones life simply because of the poor survival track record and ghoulish procedure.
It’s entirely possible during those early years the WTBTS writers of influence, while watching the medical community for publication fodder stumbled upon a new marketing idea. Based on their short-sighted observations, they came away confident enough to announce that their unique interpretation of obscure scripture provided a viable explanation as to why the manipulation of blood for medicinal purposes was dangerous and beyond the scope of human usefulness.
In the short term, many Jehovah’s Witnesses who had earlier been convinced that the year 1914 was of immense significance, there’s little doubt that given the evidence of the day, the WTBTS writers would have once again appeared at the very least, astute.
In the long run though, the corporations handling of damage control necessitated in light of their own obsolete verbiage appears to be where the real strength lies.

I get the sense that GOD puts a high value on those who Persevere, fight and hang in there for what they want.
Why didn’t He simply 'spit' out what was on His mind, instead of using some, convoluted comedic performance. Who does God think He is, Shakespeare?
