  Whether you’re ‘preaching to the choir’ or not, it’s a good point nonetheless, carmel.

  Your comment raises the question, how does one define the term ‘religion’? Does that term include the word ‘business’ and do the WTBTS Corporation and Jehovah’s Witnesses fit a ‘business’ profile.

  If the WTBTS and Jehovah’s Witnesses are actually in the ‘business of religion’, and who in the ‘religious’ genre isn’t, then what harm the corporations methods of enterprise may cause the family is simply the price of doing business in the quest for asset growth.

  Just as in the case of a producer of shoddy, deceptive and at worst, dangerous products, it’s the ‘choir’ of consumer and consumer advocates who must expose the harm done.

  for those who "grew up in the borg"

  at this late, middle stage of my life, i've started wondering, now that i know what i know, about the things in my life that i "lived" with.

  having been raised all my life in the "borg" i have known nothing else.

  when questions began forming years ago, it started me thinking.

  As a kid being taught to be both an unpaid worker for the WTBTS Corporation and consumer of its publications by becoming a Jehovah's Witness, I was always happiest on Saturday's when it was raining...the harder the better.

  I could go on, but every poster on this thread is ‘me'.

  just wondering what the general consensus is among posters on this board to this question, is death the end of existance, or a portal to a new reality?

  my 2 cents, death is only the beginning of a new reality.

  Death, as a portal to a new reality is equal to validating, by other than hearsay, ones existence immediately prior to becoming a viable zygote.

  However, to convincingly embellish the unverifiable, is potentially more profitable and definitely less boring.

  ajwrb has been in touch with the canadian jw father, whose daughter has leukemia.

  we have also had a discussion with his attorney bob calvert.

  legal costs to fight the watchtower society are mounting and another appeal may be in the works.

  My son contemplates suicide.

  my 14 year old son, benjamin, confided in me last night that he almost tried to commit suicide this week, he felt so low.. he has been brought up as a jw by his mum all his short life and until recently totally believed all the crap.

  although he has not been baptised yet he expressed the desire to pioneer and go to bethel.. then, in the past few months, he suddenly woke up and smelt what he was shovelling.. my son is an extremely gregarious, likable boy with lots of friends in the congregation.

  he is always invited to the get-togethers etc.

  In addition, contemplate seeking legal council. You may never be able to touch the insulated WTS Corporation but if worst comes to worst, taking names and dates now may allow you to bring those individual Jehovah’s Witnesses to justice who are responsible for instigating and carrying out the mental abuse.

  Better to be pro-active today in combating abuse, than making makers of sympathy cards and flower shops rich after the fact.

  Oh, how I bet they wish they had never come up with that one.

  Look at the big picture, dan’. The WTBTS policy of refusing blood transfusions they came up with appeared quite reasonable during the medically risky forties and has stood them well over the years.

  It allowed the Organization to appear to stand out from the religious crowd. The persecution complex that was generated among publication consuming adherents who ‘bought it’ was worth its weight in gold.

  Today the policy is becoming so watered down only the really unfortunate trauma victim is at risk and just like them this once grand policy of ‘refusing’ blood transfusions will gradually drift into oblivion but the financial legacy it helped build will stand for some time.

  But, hey if a ‘few’ innocent, uninformed lives are shed so the business of American religion can get a leg up financially…well, that’s life.

  I’m beginning to think that the 'American television Media’ doesn’t recognize any influence the WTBTS might have as being in the same league as the Catholic Church, let alone consider the WTBTS Corporation as being a serious ‘religion'.

  The television, advertising executives may be of the opinion that most viewers would find the alleged programming as bland as exposing the infidelities of a few ‘loose screws’ who incidentally, might be unpaid workers for, but are legally separate from ‘Religious Organization Inc.’ and not nearly as sensational as nailing questionable Priests, as legal representatives of the Holy Roman Catholic Church, to the crux of their problems.

  both commentators agreed that this is a "tough subject," however each felt that "religious freedom must be protected.

  " sean hannity ended by saying that "there would be more about this later.

  Look out WTBTS if this guy should happen to, one day, recant his numinous fakery.

  Whats the truth about 1914?

  i've heard on a few occasions from my research on the internet that 1914 really does not have the significance that wtbs assigns to it.

  from my limited understanding on the matter it involves the wtbs moving the date of the destruction of jerusalem.. can someone give me a little more detail on this or provide a link with a website that does?.

  if its true that the wts has manipulated historical dates and bible scriptures to support this date of 1914 then that would mean everything else crumbles.. thanks for any info on this

  In so many words of nuance, so has the WTBTS Corporation. However, it appears they would rather just let their conjured little historic event slide into oblivion, which is normal corporate procedure of course.
