  Gosh! 40%!, that comes as quite a shock. Gee, thanks I would never have guessed, let me be the first to put one of my BMWs up on blocks.

  Dumbfounded by COC

  over the weekend, i read for the first time crisis of conscience.. whilst i was already familiar with much of the material on chronology, 1874, 1914, etc.

  i was dumbfounded to learn how the governing body actually works and conducts itself.

  i think that many of us who have been elders in the past can really relate to ray and the battle he faced.. i must admit, i thought it was just me, and the battles i have faced with local hard-line elders.

  do not have time to study the Bible deeply themselves but at the same time are willing to make doctrinal decisions at the drop of a hat.

  That's the easy part! The tough job is making the bureaucracy of a financial empire perform like a well oiled machine.

  FINALLY stood up to my father re: religion!

  as you all may remember, i left the organization 4 years ago - never df'd, never dissassociated, just left.

  my parents initially tried everything they could to get me to come back but to no avail.

  they've never really shunned me because we still talk on the phone, but seeing that we live on the opposite coasts, i've only seen them once in 4 years.

  Clearing the Laundromat of Propaganda

  well, today was 'wash day' at the laundromat.

  it is also the time that i rid the laundromat of the propaganda that seems to collect there.. you know what i mean.

  it seems to be a collection point for watchtower and awakes that jws seem to want to leave there.. today, i hit the jackpot!

  Yeah, no kidding ed.

  Personally, as a long term inactive JW and as odious as I now find those magazines, I feel the producers of those rags would rather they be discarded as quickly as possible also.

  Not only to create a marketing demand so that Jahs Sales Associates will purchase more of next weeks issue, but the corporation must realize the magazines esthetic value is very low and any discerning reader would come to the same conclusion if they actually allowed themselves to critically scrutinize the magazines content in relation to the reality.

  A more fitting demise for the magazines than rogue censorship would be to leave them to fester in the wind like Las Vegas nudie call girl advertising littering the gutters of The Strip or the more environmentally friendly; inserts placed inside the magazines with instructions of where on the internet one could find alternative information.

  i would suspect there are very few posters on this forum who would not agree the wbts has been less than honest about numerous issues and have used manipulation and distortion of facts for it's own aggrandizement.

  but do you ever think some of the posters on this board employ the some of the same tactics to characterize the 'borg' in a less than completely honest light?

  what do you think?

  In a public forum such as this any verifiable misrepresentation, pro or con, is likely to be quickly challenged and a correction demanded If past experience is any indication, the weight of evidence generously provided should be readily apparent to the discriminating reader.

  Peace March around the World

  i watched the news on tv, and i saw reports of thousands of people all around the world asking for peace instead of war.

  do you think that these peace rallies will really make a difference?.

  do you think that these peace rallies will influence the president of the united states?

  As good as the intentions of the protests appear to be, I doubt the folks who sanctioned, agreed with and organized the decision to slam 4 fully fuel loaded, passenger carrying aircraft into two Manhattan buildings, an office complex and a remote field during what started out as a beautiful morning, are listening, let alone, taking to heart the protests requests.

  Perhaps if larger and more frequent protests are organized those misunderstood but well-meaning opposing protestors will be impressed with the sincerity enough to relinquish their affiliation with Big Moe's Mile High Club while the Western world promises not to build such tall office buildings.
