How about his favorite pastime of causing financial ruin to newly married couples? Yeah it's totally his fault the husband has no marketable skills and can't get a good enough job to be able to afford a routine car repair.

Is Satan getting a bad rap?
by lovelylil inthe thread on spiritism got me thinking about all the ridiculous things the jw's in my hall blamed on satan.
like their kid getting a cold and they had to miss the meeting or getting a flat tire on saturday, thus missing field service.. i always wondered if satan is such a powerful spirit creature, why the hell would he waste his time flattening tires or causing a runny nose?
you would think he would be causing wwiii or another plague or something!.

I'm new...and heartbroken
by chaz84 ini'm still up early hours in the morning, because i'.
so upset with what my mum said to me on the phone today.
she told me she got the sack a week ago because her boss didn't agree with my mum being a jehovah's witness and that she lets 'children die' because of the no blood rules.

I think chaz you still have a bit of the "Martyr complex" that groups like JWs have. I've worked many places here in the U.S. I'm not sure how it is in England, but I'm betting it's similar. But firing someone on the basis of their religion is illegal here. Of course why would you want to work at a place that would fire you for your religion in the first place? I sure as hell wouldn't want to go back. Anyway, JWs are not as despised by the world as they think. Sure there are some angry blog entries about them and once in a while a negative news report, but overall in the industrialized countries they are not seen as "scum" at all. Most people don't even know enough about them to care one way or the other.

I feel the same way about the History channel. They have a new Nostradamus program coming on and it just makes me want to puke. The whole premise of his predictions defy logic and no real scientist takes it seriously. Of course, you have to remember that the History Channel is just like any other TV station and is about one thing: ratings. The reason they show these mind-numbing programs is because they'll attract larger audiences. Unfortunately most of the people in this audience don't realize that the debate has already been settled on Nostradamus, the Loch Ness monster, and Bigfoot. They're going to watch these programs and still think these matters are still up in the air. They're not.

The Daniel eschatology didn't start with the witnesses. Russell picked it up from the early 7th-day Adventists and it even took him a couple tries to come up with 1914.

I decided I should at least make an appearance to stave off the storm a little. Man, I can barely stand being there. I spent the entire meeting finding lies in the Watchtower (there was a doozy about how JWs before 1914 expected Jesus to return that year even though they really thought that Jesus already returned in 1874). I realized that if more JWs knew their true history, the numbers who definitely go down, big time.

Wow, it just clicked. I'm agnostic!
by marmot ini honestly don't think i've ever been this happy in my life.
of course, i've got bipolar ii so i might just be edging on a bout of hypomania but i'm good at taking my med so this could very well be genuine!
i'm so excited at the new look on life this has given me.

Jehovah or Satan? A Story of Cognitive Dissonance.
by Mrs. Witness inhad a chat with mr. witness last night.
it started out by me asking him what his definition of politics is.
i asked because he sits watching cnn and knows all about the current campaign...and it occurred to me that he was "participating" in politics, albeit on the fringe.

I think it really should be explained to people that the fact that some JWs molest children does not mean the religion is wrong, but what's wrong is the fact that the WT not only hides these men by failing to expel them and sealing their records, but also condemns other religions for doing the same thing they do. If harboring pedophiles is a sign that you are in the wrong religion, then Jehovah's Witnesses are wrong according to their own reasoning!

Every convention they have talks about "not spreading false stories." Except that JWs routinely ignore this, even in the very next talk.
