For me, I think it's going to be when I vote in the general election this year. It will be my first action in public against JW doctrine. Posting on JWD is done in the privacy of my own home, as great as everyone is, it just doesn't feel real and tangible unless I do something in real life that demonstrates I'm no longer a JW. Voting will be a defining milestone for me, far more major than chipping in a couple bucks for a christmas present at work or saying "merry christmas."

It's interesting that the cloud canopy theory is physically impossible. All one has to do is look at the cloud canopies on other worlds to see the effects. In order to have enough water, the cloud canopy would have to be so thick that it would put an incredible amount of pressure on earth's atmosphere. As we all know, more pressure equals more heat. A cloud canopy would turn the earth into a pressure cooker, rendering life as we know it impossible.

new zealand jw's had a 2.5 hour meeting on saturday to listen to a 'special talk' via telephone link-up given by a governing body member.
was it the same as gerrit losch's recent australian talk?.
when i was a jw (35 years) i don't recall this ever happening before.
The next step is a giant screen with the governing body member's face taking up the whole thing. Instead of being called "brother" he'll be called "big brother."
the watchtower society is quite ungrateful.
they teach how jesus was sent to earth so he would be able to relate to people, yet, their circuit overseers, bethelites, and governing body live a life insulated from the real world.. it baffles me how hard some circuit overseers can push pioneering.
it sure is easy when you draw a stipend, get a free car, free health/car insurance, and free shelter for doing nothing but going out in service a lot and giving a few speeches every week.
"He manages to support himself through a multi-level marketing scheme." Normally I wouldn't believe it possible for anyone to actually support themselves on MLM schemes. Of course, he lives below the poverty line and on the charity of the "kings of the earth" who commit fornication with "Babylon the Great," so I guess he's hardly an endorsement of Amway (It IS Amway I'm guessing). Also, I'm willing to guess he uses his position in the congregation as leverage to get others in the congregation involved.

You may not know this, but the CoS is extremely anti-gay. The purpose of this video was to poke fun at Scientologists for their backward views, not to offend LGBTs.

now, how to 'prove' that to a family member who is still jw?.
It's best if you completely discount the Bible altogether. All JW teachings are built on the pre-conceived assumption that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. Take away that assumption, and the rest is not even debatable.
