  I became atheist and I haven't even technically left the borg yet. Waiting to build up a life outside it before I leave.

  Do you think the society will abandon 1914?

  it seems to me that they're slowly dismantling the date theology that ties the end times to this period in history.

  first, they updated the generation teaching to mean a figurative generation, thus removing the possibility in the near future when all who were alive in 1914 are dead.

  then, they abandoned 1935 so the annointed will never die off, and prove their belief that the annointed will see armageddon wrong.

  Well they can't really push the 2034 reasoning officially yet. If they did, you'd see scores of people leaving as well as service time and meeting attendance plummeting. Giving witnesses 27 years until Armageddon will probably bankrupt the society.

  how many times have we heard this?.

  i would like to know if any of you have any good arguements refuting this.

  my brain is fried from two weeks of "fencing" with jw's.

  i have left my old congregation 2 years ago.

  i have left jw teaching 1 1/2 years.

  i like being true to my beliefs.

  DAing used to be good for people who let the congregation know that they were leaving the congregation of their own accord, and not because they had sex with someone or took drugs. Unfortunately, now that the announcement makes no such distinction, there's very little reason now. On the one hand, making a clean break is good, but it also cuts you off from what may be your only friends and/or relatives. Fading is a great alternative sometimes because it is now official policy not to go after those who stop living the li(f)e and don't try to associate with the congregation. Even though technically this makes someone disassociated, Witnesses don't seem to apply the "no talking" rule as much to this situation, and many of them will at least have civil conversation with you.

  ahh i suppose after posting a bit its time to say hello.

  hello people, all of you :).

  who am i, well i'm the middle child of my parents, who are ex jw's, so i'm not sure if that makes me one since they stopped attending jw occasions when i was 11, but having experienced being part of it, and having not enjoyed it i can say i class myself as an ex-jw.

  Are Ex-JWs smarter than the average bear?

  I've found that when witnesses give talks on scientific or real life matters they get their information horribly wrong.

  How could I have been so naive and gullible!?

  i find out that the "sweetest" girl in the congregation is one of the biggest sluts in town!

  she was into me, and here i thought she was sincere in the truth and i never made a move, because i was honourable.. i was so lock, stock, and barrel in this cult, so sincere, it makes me sick.

  i didn't realise how two-faced and fake everyone in it was until i left and now all the people out are hanging out with the people in!.

  Think about it this way. If you did end up getting it on with her, she may have had a guilt trip eventually and outed you before you were ready.

  JW Kingdom Hall Target of Arson Fire

  boise - fire crews are investigating an arson fire that destroyed a boise church overnight.

  that fire happened at the jehovahs witness church just off of roosevelt and st. andrews just after 2 a.m. .

  when crews arrived on scene, they found the building engulfed in flames, and say someone set the fire intentionally.

  I know someone that was sort of raised a witness (his dad wasn't one though). He ended up slipping his way out when he started high school, and was completely gone by graduation. Turns out, he ended up putting a cherry bomb in the KH's mailbox. I only found out years later.

  if you guys remember some of the previous conversations i have posted between us, she is heavily indoctrinated with every facet of watchtower world.

  lately, we've been talking about her serious relationship with a non-witness.

  he tried studying, but just couldn't agree to go along with the wackiness.

  The fact that she's even talking to you after saying those things means she isn't a very hardcore witness, except maybe in the eyes of others.
