it has been 15-years now since i walked away from the jws, and 12-years since my disassociation.
it is time to do some reflecting in short posts, and check my mental bearings.. the forbidden zone:.
a week or two ago i watched planet of the apes again for the 10th time.
Yes I remember when there quite a few hostile people on this board, and I appreciate Simon and his crew making it a more welcoming board now.
Do you think the inability to be civil has to do with people's emotions and wanting to keep the drama alive and going?
well, i let my feelings about some things seep out today when an elder came by to invite me to the memorial.
of course, this elder, whom my husband and i have known for over 20 yrs, is one who i think jumps around on subjects, no matter what they are concerning, and doesn't stick or listen to the thoughts that anyone wants to express so when i tried to express mine...my reason why i am not attending the memorial, although i haven't for the past 3 yrs., he brings my dead mother into it..saying she would be pleased if i would come back to the hall or at least to memorial because his agenda was to get me to say i was coming to the memorial.
i started telling him not to put that on me but he didn't hear me because he kept on and on in his own thought patterns, stating that the society says we are in the last of the last days...so i asked, how many "lasts" are they going to put on the last days?

I faded out a few months after my mother died in 2003. I still attended the summer convention that year, but I made the decision after the convention that it was time to just stop going. I haven't DA's myself so as far as they are concerned, I'm just inactive.
They only come by whenever there is a convention or the Memorial. I guess they still have hope that my husband and I will start coming back. He may come back--we never ever talk about anything society related because he still believes the F&DS are still being led by the holy spirit and I don't.
As far as my mom is concerned, it was just an expression--and I know it was to make me feel guilty as if to say, "what would your mother think about you not going to meetings anymore? (if she were alive"
I don't have any hate in my heart for them....to me they are just another end-time religion needing something to do until "the end comes"....I'm sure other end-time religions keep themselves busy too.

He kind of bumbled over that one. Anyway, they all like to think they knew my mom pretty well, but nobody knows their parents better than their kids, and they don't know some of the conversations my mom and I had before she died. BTW, I am 59 yrs. old and my mom was a witness when I was born. Well the elder had other witnesses in his van, and some of them had to leave so we left off the conversation, but I guess it will be continued sometime in the future. Oh joy..... I had been holding back a long time in expressing my views, when different witnesses would come to my door but I just couldn't keep back this time...I guess because this elder was really trying to get a committment out of me. Anyway, I wasn't upset and I will not get upset by any of them......maybe because I think for myself now, and I can see where they are coming from....because that's where I used to be.
give a few examples in which the watchtower should stick to religion and mind it's own business in the internal affairs of it's members.. 1) whatever has to do with health and medical treatment.. 2) who you can marry and sex they can have.. add to the list..
In one of their more recent publications (last few years) there was a paragraph on how to meditate on God's Word. Four points were mentioned (don't remember them except one) but at the time I was contemplating a fade, and I was reading the Bible on my own, and meditating on the wise sayings of Jesus, which was a far, far, cry from what the society was telling us to meditate on, so I would say:
DON'T TELL US HOW TO AND WHAT TO MEDITATE ON!!!
i know there may not be an answer to this question, but i am truly interested in other's views.
i know many are of various beliefs and some do not believe in god at all.. the question is: why does god not stop the suffering?
i watch so many suffer for no reason and no matter how i try to figure it out, i always come back to the fact that a loving parent would not allow their child to suffer needlessly.
Maybe God and his Son are in a different part of whatever exists outside our universe, and when they created humankind, they left it to see how and what they would do with this gift of life. The gospels speak of Christ's return which has always left me with the question, "Return from where?"

I am a knitter and have a book which gives the history of knitting--yes it is a man thing and originated in Arabia and done by men.
There are lots of websites and blogs of knitters and lots of neat patterns, and DIY has a knitting show every day called Knitty Gritty which shows some really neat stuff. And if you are mathematically inclined, the website diynetwork.com has some patterns using the principles of moebius and Fibonacci math system.

I understood the points and I guess my points were rhetorical in a way. I just see a double standard in the WTS and that is the treatment of women as not equal with men--as is in other religions too.

What if the judges, mayors or ministers authorized by the state are females? Could anyone who professes to be a witness and doesn't qualify to get married in a Kingdom Hall conscientiously get married by a female? If they want to get in good standing with the KH again, I bet not. Yet the secular/legal institutions do recognize that women can, in whatever legal office they have, perform civil wedding ceremonies Hmmmm..... In the state of Florida, a notary can even conduct a ceremony too, and I knew two female witnesses who were notaries, and expressed that they conscientiously couldn't marry people ("worldly" people that is) because of how the Bible views the submission of women.*** One most definitely stopped being a notray because she expressed this reason. Also it is very easy for someone to become an ordained minister in the state of Florida. ***Basically, it is the ideas of the apostle Paul which IMHO, he had a reason to say what he said because it was probably necessary in his time being that Christians lived among "pagans", and in our day, it has been incorrectly interpreted not only by JWs, but other religions claiming to be Christian as well. ***********

When I was in my 20’s, many JWs interpreted this to mean that at some point in the "new system" marriage would end. Since this was shortly before 1975, many JWs rushed to get married worried that they would never have the chance (and never have the chance to have sex.)
Blondie, Bonnie_Clyde, I also remember the phrase "until the divine termination of the marital arrangement." That phrase lead to so much speculation/questions/discussions that the society had to rephrase the statement. I suppose the idea was that marriage was only for procreation, and once the "new world" was populated, there would be no need for marriage anymore. I just hate their imposed views on everything and claim to be speaking for God.
Hope your ear is a lot better Blondie. When I was a child, I always had ear infections. It's no picnic!
