Hi Blondie! I like the both versions (abreviated and unabreviated). I too have often wondered why the society uses David as an example. I also have trouble with why the baby between he and Bath-Sheba was killed--I realize that is not a society thing, but a decision made by Jehovah--but I still don't understand it. I hope that whoever is supplying you with the WT magazines will continue to do so, so we can all read your comments and past WT articles on the subjects.

Do you fear the big A and does the conflict impact your actions?
by Maverick inon another tread this point came up.
scotsman posted a comment about a certain poster being gay, and i do not know or care if this is true or not, and in conflict over the fear of dying at armageddon for this "sin".
do any of you fear the big a because of your lifestyle?

Someone on another board I post on mentioned a long time ago that perhaps we all face and go through our own little armageddons in our lives. At the time, I thought she was a bit nuts, but now I think she could be right. In looking at programs on the History Channel, Discovery and A&E on Biblical subjects, especially the book of Revelation, some scholars have suggested that it is about mostly about conquering thru faith. And even in one chapter and verse in Revelation, Jesus said he would reward the one who conquers. That makes a lot of sense. All Armageddon would prove, the WT way, is that God is stronger than humans and we already know that. So I don't believe it will be the destruction of the majority of mankind with only a fe saved. IF Armageddon does turn out to be a real war, perhaps it's the one after Satan is released from the abyss when the 1000 yrs. is up...after all in Revelation 20:8 says Satan will mislead nations and gather them for the war. Seems like that would be the time propaganda would be delivered to mislead the nations. (How do you turn this highlighter off)?

Governing Blunders Part II - Women and Cranial Capacity.
by hillary_step inpart i of governing blunders in which the wts used a quotation from an anonymous psychiatrist and the department on 'many authorities' attempting to prove that woman feel, while men think, and that the tow actions are mutually exclusive, reached this conclusion in part - "thus the supervision of women by men seems to be nature?s plan, however desperately women may fight it.
as we all know, it takes as little as this type of statement for groups of men with shiny pants and briefcases to begin herding their women like cattle, trying to convince them that cooking endless 'nutritious' meals really is fun, and that holding a microphone just so, is a real mans work.
i thought we would continue in like vein, reminding the reader once again that many of the writers and editors of the wt and awake are still writing atricles for these magazines as we speak.

Thanks, Blondie! This paragraph is what I have been wrestling with for almost the past year:
If all this counsel in the Greek scriptures is for only the anointed, then the society shouldn't be trying to make us "unanointed christians" (and I say that with a question mark because it makes me wonder what I really am) try to live lives as if we were anointed. It shouldn't apply to us, and we shouldn't be made to feel guilty when we fall short of trying to achieve these goals. But, alas, they do.Paragraph 8
To fellow Christians (only the anointed), the apostle Paul wrote: "It is necessary for us to pay more than the usual attention to things heard by us, that we may never drift away." (Hebrews 2:1) A ship adrift does not reach its destination. If a captain is inattentive to wind and current, his ship might easily drift past a safe harbor and run aground on a rocky shore. Similarly, if we are inattentive to the precious truths (buzz phrase) of God?s Word, we might easily drift away from Jehovah (the WTS) and suffer spiritual shipwreck.

Excellent observations!
While their future walks out the doors of the Kingdom Hall, the elderly bozos in charge do nothing but wag their finger and condemn. I can testify personally that many Witness kids DO know that the Society is "out to lunch" and irrelevant. Hemoraging Indeed!
Yep!! My kids know!!

Strange picture in this week's Watchtower on porneia?
by eyeslice inlink to picture: http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/file/7d83e711-da29-44aa-bde7-f74f9a3d79bd.ashx.
the following caption appeared opposite the paragraph porneia (quote: "porneia includes such acts as oral sex, anal sex, and masterbating another person") what can happen if we ignore warnings?.
now is it just me, but isn't the picture of the little boy trying to rescue his ball from out of a pond just a little weird?

Not sure about "perfect little people" - some are foul-natured little imps
That is how the WT wants all children to be "perfect little people". Of course, since they never had children of their own, they absolutely have no idea what raising a child is like. It's joyous, heartbreaking, disappointing, and wonderful.

From the NWT:
Romans 12:15,16: "Rejoice with people who rejoice; weep with people who weep. Be minded the same way toward others as to yourselves; do not be minding lofty things, but be led along with the lowly things. Do not become discreet in YOUR own eyes."

There is another problem here. The text is quite clear in that it is talking about oral, anal and other sexual practices engaged in by unmarried couples. However, the average R&F member will pick this up as a subliminal message that it also includes married couples. So the confusion, or control which ever way you look at it, goes on. eyeslice
This is the impression I got too eyeslice.
In addition, I get so tired of them treating the R&F as if they are anointed Christians and putting this heavy responsibility of doing what a "Christian" is supposed to be doing, on them. They have inferred that the Greek Scriptures are for the anointed and by "extension" to the "other sheep" but it's the R&F that are expected to bear all this responsibility, and they are told they aren't even in a mediator relationship with Jeus--so what are they fussing about?

Should You Believe in the Trinity?
by Tower Man ini posted this about 1 year ago and people seemed to really enjoy it.
it's a simulated discussion about the watchtower's main anti-trinity booklet named, should you believe in the trinity.
the purpose of the article is not to validate or discredit the trinity, but solely to examine the watchtower's literary honesty or dishonesty.

For me the trinity doctrine doesn't make sense and yes I've read Trinitarians posts on other boards, who have tried in many various ways to explain it. For the dogmatic ones, they believe it's necessarily to one's salvation to believe in it. Yet they too believe in a loving God, yet their "loving God" would let me burn in hell forever if I can't believe in something that doesn't make sense?
The bigger issue, to me is, what religious beliefs make people become. Calvin had Servetus burned alive at the stake over the trinity. Was that the way a person who preaches a loving God supposed to act?

SPOT ON!
by Dansk inclaire, knowing of my interest in buddhism, recently purchased a book for me: exploring karma & rebirth by nagapriya (published by windhorse http://www.windhorsepublications.com/.
on page 5, in the introduction, the following paragraph made me sit up as i immediately thought about jwism:.
"it is common to approach religious doctrines in the same way as we approach everyday statements about experience: we think they are either 'true' or 'not true'.
