It's not unusual for JWs to be employed by the government . For example, mailmen are government employees also.

A Jehovah Witness serves as Civil Servant in Government Institution What has changed in WT Policy?
by Nick! ina jehovah witness serves as civil servant in government institution what has changed in wt policy?.
according to the new liberian (see link http://newliberian.com/?p=558#more-558 )an alleged jehovah witness, mr. andrew togba davies, a consummate professional, (who) indeed devoted his entire adult life to public service, working in various capacities as a christian minister, lawyer, educator, diplomat, and national security professional, passed away on january 3, 2009, in monrovia, liberia.
he was 71.. the article specifies that he was a devout christian who, on december 19, 1969, after an ardent course of bible study, dedicated his life to jehovah and served faithfully as one of jehovahs witnesses until his death.. the article continues by saying in 1982, he began his diplomatic service as the liberian special maritime representative to the united states.

What do you think of the Wise Men NOW!
by wobble ini have just been watching the carols and readings from kings college cambridge, england, bloody marvellous!.
a couple of times they have referred to the visit of the wise men, i wonder what you guys make of this,it always seemed to me a strange thing to be in scripture, the visit of some devout presumably zoroastrian seers.
the wt take on this is that "satan used them to try to bring about the death of jesus".

I'm going with it was some sort of apparition created by satan .It wasn't a stationary star ,it moved in front of them ,going to herod first in an effort to kill the youngster jesus ,it did all happen to fullfill the old testament prophesy that there would be a great wailing in Israel and that Jesus would have to be called out of egypt where they went to hide . One would have to ask if herod was stupid for trusting the astrologers to return but I couldn't see God being responsible for the death of all the babies .
That's the way I see it too. So, it seems, that this "apparition" (called a "star") was an object that Satan himself caused to appear in the sky. Any thoughts on that?

That thing about churches is one thing I had an issue with.. I once as an active JW was sent to a panic
situation where India ink had been spilled on a carpet (I was a professional carpet cleaner) ( this is a time sensitive
situation with India ink) . Anyway I was seen working in a church by someone .... the whole issue of church
contract work came up.. I told them looking this was a one time emergency situation.. I didn't even know it
was a church til I got there... too late to back out ! This whole thing about conscience of others came up.
I reached a boiling point, pointing out that just a while ago an elder attend a church service (funeral )
because a relative with money wrote in his will that to obtain willed money he must be present at the service !
I told them I call that a bribe.. if you only attend to obtain the money ! I was only in church doing my job
they told me the elder was not there to worship.. either was I... I said.. the whole situation makes me think
of a word that starts with H.... and it's not the word honor !

Reading your post reminded me of how my mother-in-law's Will was worded. It stated that her daughter (my wife) was to see to it that the grandchildren were to receive essentially everything (which was mainly in the form of stocks). It poignantly stated that the only thing that her daughter was to receive was the residue of a $5,000.00 checking account after $1,000.00 gift to the American Legion Building Fund was made, and that her daughter was to write out the check. It stated that if her daughter failed to carry out the instructions in the Will that my wife was to receive absolutely nothing. What a bitch I had for a "mother-in-law"!

Just more proof of Jehover's wonderously designed creation. He truly is a loving god to have designed such a creature.
It's reasonable to assume that there were no poisonous spiders or mosquitoes inside the boundaries of the Garden of Eden, even as there wasn't any weeds. Outside the Garden of Eden had not been cultivated, and was where the thorns and thistles grew. -- Genesis 3:18.

Holding hands during prayer.
by greenhornet ini remember with some jw family's during prayer every one would hold hands around the table.
i think it is like a cult or some pagan practice.
now that i am out of the box looking in, i find this practice weird.

The person who studied with me was one that practiced holding hands at the dinner table during a prayer prior to eating the meal.

the short article noted above appeared in the june 2006 issue of awake!
although i think the author did a good job in general i totally disagree with the following three things that were said:(a) by asserting their independence, adam and eve irreparably damaged their relationship with jehovah (b) and inflicted sinas imprint upon their organism, right to its genetic foundations.

The short article noted above appeared in the June 2006 issue of Awake! Although I think the author did a good job in general I totally disagree with the following three things that were said:
(a) By asserting their independence, Adam and Eve irreparably damaged their relationship with Jehovah (b) and inflicted sin’s imprint upon their organism, right to its genetic foundations. (c) Jehovah purposed to make it possible for the offspring of Adam and Eve to be freed from sin’s deadly grip.
With regards to the "a" part: We notice the author argues that there is no hope left for Adam and Eve. So the official position of the Watchtower Society is that Adam and Eve will NOT receive a resurrection. However, there is nothing in the Biblical account that suggests Adam and Eve were irreconcilable. With regards to the "b" part: The author claims that the tendency to sin was passed down to everyone by means of genetics. Actually, our genes have nothing to do with the shortcomings that we commit. The quality of parental guidance and education has everything to do with it. With regards to the "c" part: Once again it is implied that Adam and Eve will not receive another chance at life. There is nothing to suggest that Adam and Eve merited being thrown into the "lake of fire" along with Satan. (Revelation 20:10) The lake of fire is a symbol for eternal destruction, where only irreconcilable people are sent. Do you agree or disagree with me?

What I Learned from Bro Lett's DC Talk
by Rohag inwhat i learned/derived from steven lett's dc talk (thanks again, ynot, for providing access to the .mp3 files!).
brother lett - or the committee that produced the talk - really loves food metaphors.well-dressed people, especially children, produce a good witness.if you're an apostate, chances are bad conduct/secret sin/moral depravity made you that way.
apostasy is usually founded on sin and rarely on conviction.the bible is an insufficient - or overly cumbersome - guide to godly conduct.

- No other religious organization is bearing a world-wide witness to the Kingdom established in the heavens in 1914.
What a sad statement for anyone to make! I went to meetings for almost 10 years before I realized that the 1914 doctrine was a misconception.

SCANNED ARTICLE ON BLOOD FRACTIONS 'WORKBOOK'
by Mary ini'm not sure if this has ever been posted, but here's the uh "workbook" that all jws are given regarding blood fractions.
of course, the hypocrisy shines through as when it asks "are fractions also covered by the command to abstain from blood?
we cannot say" and "your decisions should be your own and should not be based on someone else's conscience.

Therefore the jewish law on abstaining from blood was the context in which they were speaking. DONT EAT BLOOD FROM A SLAUGHTERED ANIMAL. GIVE THE DEAD ANIMALS BLOOD BACK TO JEHOVAH ....
This was means to remind the Jews that they had taken a life that jehovah had created. It was to remind them of the sanctity of life and the giver of it.
Blood transfusions have nothing to do with the taking of life ....
Exactly! I had reached the same conclusions myself before reading what you had to say, actually quite some time ago. Isn't that interesting?!

How anyone can accept parts of blood (fractions) and say they have abstained from blood is beyond me. What would the WTS say about what I just said? Does anyone here know?
"Can we see you in the back room for a little chat brother?"
Sorry for not making myself more clear. What I meant to ask was, since "Jehovah's Witnesses believe that it is not possible to abstain from blood and accept blood transfusions" how do they go about explaining that it is possible to abstain from blood and accept blood fractions? Anyone know for sure how they explain this? My guess would be that it has to do with not being a "primary component of blood". Would that be how they would explain it? But still, even as the Our Kingdom Ministry said, "Blood fractions are elements from blood...." So I ask: How can anyone accept parts of blood and say they have not taken blood? True, they have not taken WHOLE blood, but they have taken blood just the same because the fractions are part of the blood.
