  i am seventeen years of age and have been born into christianity by my parents.

  for some reason i havent really been all that into going to my christian church.

  the litter-ature over the years has teachings that imply jehovah's special people are all on the verge of having unplanned sex on a moment's notice, with anyone, at any time.. you must have a chaperone if you are to be alone with someone of the opposite sex, even briefly.. this applies to people of any ages.

  you could be a 99-year-old raisin whose flagpole hasn't risen since rutherford was living in beth sarim, but you still shouldn't be alone with a pimply 16-year-old shy obese virgin who still plays with barbie dolls.

  Question for Christians or other religious people who believe in evolution

  before i begin, i want to say that i really don't want to start yet another creation vs evolution debate so please don't go down that road with this thread.

  that debate has been done many times aleady!.

  i know there are many christians and other religious people on here who believe in god or gods and yet do accept evolution as the way we all came about.

  In a situation such as this, I like to say remove the Bible. If you remove the Bible, there is no soul. No one has seen one, there is no proof of such. Without the Bible, we, plants and animals are on the same plane. It is only the audacity of man to assume that we are the higher being, thus deserving a special thing called a soul. What is so important about you , that it needs to live on? Really, what is so great about you?

  Jerusalem destroyed 607 or 586/7?

  let's try this again...most of us are aware that all available evidence points to the time of jerusalem's destruction at the 586/7bc time frame.

  overwhelming evidence includes astronomical phenomena, achaeological evidence, bank records, the bible itself.. some hold to 607bc, for obvious reasons- the implications it has.

  thoughts on how this would effect the average witness if forced to conclude 607 is wrong?

  The 1914 date has been changed many times. What came of that? 607 is moot, IMO some of you here spend way too much time trying to quantify it. Without and end game, what differance does it make? The generation that will not pass away has been dropped. So what differance does it make when or if Jesus took over? If a day in his court yard is as a 1000 years elswhere? The end may not come for centuries. The end has always been near, just not in our or anyone elses lifetime.

  the recent internet phenomenon seems to be that 1. some news story breaks, and then 2. people start talking about it and twittering and forwarding emails about it.

  and then it multiplies and multiplies until finally, 3. the whole world is talking about it.

  the same with the madoff scheme.

  The end is near, the end is near! Sound familiar? Jesus was prophecy fulfilled, right? That would explain why the religions preceding Christianity immediately fell apart. As soon as Hindus and Buddhists heard of him they converted. It would also explain why the Muslims never came to exist. After all, once Christianity took foot, there was no need for a new prophet.

  As long is there is a willing ear, there will be a flapping tongue. Get over it and move on.

  how can you dis-associate anyway, you never thought you were baptised as a watchtower society member, you thought your dedication was to god, so why formally disassociate from something you did not formally join?

Why would I give them the satisfaction in knowing they still have this level of control in my life? If you no longer believe in a God? Then what could it possibly matter? If you do believe? Then your baptism was to God. Was Jesus baptized as an JW? No! Live free!

  this thread is primarily directed to biblical creationists and other non-evolutionists here (as such no or limited responses will be given to evolutionist posts here).

  please if you are a non-evolutionist attempt to refrain from debating evolutionists here on this thread, as they will likely try to derail any learning, or exposure of their tactics.

  i will try to avoid debating here but instead posting information in a series of posts.. i consider myself to be an informed biblical creationist and probably one of more experienced creation/evolution issue debaters to have been on this forum.

  Are you serious? He has been dead for 24 yrs. The fossil record has exploded since then, forget about DNA. Whenever someone has presented themselves as an authority on an subject, that is the first clue to discount whatever they say. I have to tell you this, as time goes by. The evidence for evolution will only continue to grow and evolve. The BS of creationism will only grow more evident. Free your mind.

  There is an another organization that resembles this. It also uses an central figure, everyone uses the same literature emenating from one location. While the central figure dictates one thing an reader narrates from the text. This is often followed by an question and answer session. It's called the public school system. This is basic education in play. Peer pressure is also everywhere. Do JW's teach the truth? Of course not. The school's often do not as well. Revisionist history is also an lie, yet taught as fact. Nothing as of yet is fully understood or will be. What does one do? Learn! All you can! Then make your own reasonable and educated decision. Topics such as this are good, they get people thinking.

  I grew up in this religion. Finding some hidden agenda to justify your leaving is pointless. Sure it will make it easier to explain to family that are pressuring you. The thing is, it is pointless. My epiphany occured several years after leaving. The internet did not exist and there was not an convenient source for info such as this. Anywho, while in DC we went to the Smithsonian. After many years of being drilled with lies regarding the fossil record, there it was. Truth! You see, for my entire youth I was told that they only had bit's and pieces of bones. I remember hearing/reading how they took jaw bones and fake skulls to create the caveman. From that they fabricated the fossil record and of course evolution. Bullshit! As I walked around the corner at the Smith, I came upon this booth. It was the size of an two car garage. The woman sitting inside had before her an pile. No, an massive pile, of skulls. Hundreds of them. The part that hit me so hard was that most were missing the jaw. The skulls themselves were either complete or close enough. For years until this point I had conceded, deep down, my life was an waste. I could not live in that religion. At the same time I would one day die, as I knew the truth, yet chose to not live by it. On that day I started my real journey to truth! I hope those that are struggling can find the same.

  All that said. Several more years later, reality. Even though I no longer believed in god. Even though I viewed religion and the bible as an joke. I stood on an balcony praying, why!!!!! Why? I really don't know. Best I can figure is that I relapsed into something that was drilled into me as well as covering my bases. You see, after close to an month of hospitalization, my mother was dieing. An blood transfusion would save her. In spite of all the crap the society tells you about blood alternatives, the Dr's would not touch her without blood. Two hospital's and several Dr's. No blood, no surgery. I chose to respect her wishes. She died. That was ten years ago, I think respecting her wish was the best choice for her. Getting the surgery would have been best for me. You can only make decisions with the information that you have at the time. Make the best of it and learn as much as you can.
