Need some sage JWN advice
by Simon Morley init has been two years since my family stopped attending and being "active".
my daughter is in her 30's settled and teaching with a masters degree she got post her separation and divorce four years ago from a witness, she is remaried and happy.
we just celebrated our first xmas since joining jw in the early 80's.. my wife now has increasing bouts of extreme anger (that border on violence) directed primarily at me for wasting twenty years of her life and causing my daughter to have periodic problems with flashbacks and anxiety.

Leaving the JW's involves certain stages of emotion similar to grieving. I agree with Rebel that your wife's reaction seems a bit extreme in relation to blaming you for a decision I would assume she had a part in. Seeking counseling might be a good decision...I would try to get her to go with you so she won't be overly defensive at the suggestion to seek counseling. You might also want to look at the Free Minds website...I believe there is information on there regarding exits from the JW's.

Don't let your accountant fire YOU when you catch them in malfeasance
by Terry inyou own a business and hire an accountant to manage the finances.. your checks start to bounce every once and awhile.
you anxiously call your accountant: "what's going on?
bank to cover these things!".

You know the old saying Terry...
"Figures never lie, liars figure!"
I guess that could apply to other types of "accountants" too...

Hi 3rdgen...I am glad the surgery went well. Don't be surprised about being down...I was in the hospital this year for over a week, and when I came home I was "not myself" either. It is very typical, and often can be a combination of the drugs you are taking and the trauma to your body. As a surgeon once told me, "surgery is just an assualt with a deadly weapon under a controlled environment"! Once you turn the recovery corner, you will be amazed how much better you will feel, both physically and mentally.
As to your new life, it too will improve...to use a tired old WT cliche, "keep your eyes on the prize".

"it will be such a privelege to sit down with Moses, David and Noah to hear first hand their accounts of faithfulness"
"even if the system continues beyond our death, have we not benefited from living the "pure religion"?"
"I have already picked out the house I will be living in after Armageddon!"

The Watchtower is NOT a false prophet
by The Quiet One inregarding what some have said here about the wt being a false prophet.. i would like to make my point regarding the wt not being a false prophet... so please, if you can be patient enough to read this, at least try to understand what i am getting at.. a false prophet is one who, according to deuteronomy, makes a false prediction of the future and claims that the prediction came from god, or in other words claiming that 'god has said he will do a certain thing at a certain time' etc.. for example, hypothetically speaking, if someone had claimed: "god will bring about the end of the world in 2010", they would have been proven to be a false prophet, obviously.
but, as an example, imagine a man who claimed the position of a prophet of god, (as moses did, because although he was not the type of prophet that predicted the future.. he was still a prophet or spokesman for god) and that he had publicised worldwide, according to his interpretation of a (for example) prophecy found in the book of isaiah, that the world would end in 2010.. and he had also stated that he was not saying that god will end the world in that year.. but only that there was biblical evidence that god might do so.
that would clearly have been a mistake.

TQO...the difference between Moses and the WTS is that Moses NEVER spoke on God's behalf something that didn't happen or come to be. He may have made human mistakes, but he never falsely prophesied. If you want to liken the WTS to Moses, then you have completely missed the mark in discerning truth from falsehood.
edit: JWF...we must have posted at the same time!
