To Newbies--Please read
by rebel8 inyou've found the courage to visit this forum, or maybe you happened across us, or maybe you're just here to complain about us.
let me save you some time-think of this as your automated telephone response....you know, press 1 to reach customer service..... if you're a jw or ex-jw who is afraid of apostates but just wants some info...... * stick around, lurking is fine if you need to.
* apostasy is not contagious (even though wts called it rabies at one time).

Thanks Blondie!...it never fails to amaze me how the Society ignores and minimizes the very thing that Jesus did before teaching people...and that was to take care of their physical needs, ie: healing, feeding masses, etc. Why is it that the very act of charity and kindness is so looked down on in favor of knocking on doors? Is it possible that Jesus recognized that people needed to be shown more than a message to reach their hearts? Obviously, that concept has not been embraced by the WTS...

Vote:DO you think the WTBTS will end with a BANG or a WHIMPER
by superman inpersonally i think it will end with a whimper.
i think that they will always have members, but after the "system" continues and more and more people get discouraged, df'd, da'd, or fade after a long enough time they will slowly continue to consilidate halls (lose members) until it finally get so small they eventually go by the wayside or switch to something like e-meetings or web-meetings or once yearly conventions.
any takers??

Neither...there are always willing buyers to be found. I agree with Olin Moyles Ghost...there is still lots of "fresh territory" out there to farm.

Thanks Blondie...always love your insights!
Password and bobid, you took the words out of my mouth. Mormons seem to be much more successful in their conversion rates than JW's. Why the WT continues to torpedo their own line of reasoning with facts that can actually be turned back around on them continually amazes me. Maybe the reason people remember JW's more than Mormons has to do with the persistent and boring message that they are bombarded with. If it were so compelling, why is the conversion rate so low? As bobid points out, if JW's wanted to make a bigger impact, they would use the newer media methods available such as TV, internet, etc. Oh wait...that might allow the bearers of the message to be exposed to apostate ideas!

Mom says "You will die at Armageddon" - good replies?
by serendipity inmy mother retired from her full-time job recently and has started attending meetings again.
she also has plenty of time to think about her wayward children, including me.
one night, we were talking and she asked me, again, why i wasn't going to meetings.

How about just asking her, "what if he doesn't...and you are punished for usurping God's judgment?"
