Thanks for taking the time to post your experience. I'm always looking for things like this to help me with my own potential future conversations. I like to see how people's brains work and the paths they choose to take when discussing these matters with current JW's.

I haven't heard yet if the package I sent was received. I hope so! Kicking myself now for not putting the tracking on it. I usually do, have to blame the holidays!
I did not receive anything, so if you sent me something please let me know and we can try and track it together.

Not much to report on my end. Stayed home all day and finished packing away Christmas. Hoping with a streamlined and clean house again I'll get bored and go outside walking!
I am getting inspired reading about all the exercise people are doing. I'll get there one day!
I stuck to my 23 points today. Trying to maintain that without using my extra points until the "start" of my week which is next Wednesday.

Glad to see everyone checking in...yay!
I hit my goal of 23 Weight Watcher's Points today. My schedule is all off for my meetings though. I usually go to a Tuesday night meeting (which is funny to me...I learn SO much more and get much more support than I ever did at any JW meeting...and hey, it's only 30 minutes!). Xmas and NY on Tuesday this year so I'm doing my official weigh in this Saturday and then again on Tuesday.
My goal by next Tuesday is 2lbs., which will put me just 2lb away from my first goal of losing 10% of my weight.

Count me in too. I've been doing Weight Watchers for a few months but got a bit sloppy during the holidays.
I'm currently at 23 WW points per day which is roughly 1150 calories per day plus I have an additional 1750 that I can use over the course of a week.
Exercise is the toughest part for me. I know I should just toss my son into a stroller and head out walking everyday but finding that motivation has been tough.
I haven't missed a WW meeting since I started and I don't plan on it in the future. I find the accountability is very important to me. I'll add this in as one more layer of being responsible.

I'm another with huge chunks of memory missing. It's interesting that my sister who never really bought into it and didn't get baptized doesn't have the same experience. I attribute some of it to the mind numbing boredom that occurs and life passes by without any highlights, events or celebrations. A previous poster mentioned the hypnosis threads, I'm going to go back and reread those as they made me go hmmmm the first time I read them. Might be something there.
Even more frustrating is my husband has a pretty good memory and let's just say that he must have started out with A LOT more brain cells than the average person as he has managed to kill quite a few of them off by partaking in a few substances not currently recognized as "legal" in the USA. I still have to rely on him to "remember" things for me. I too have been using different medications for depression over the past 10+ years. So I imagine my problem is a combination of several factors.
Realizing that this is my past, I am determined that my son has a different experience. We celebrate the holidays with much joy and remembering, I record and photograph every possible event, and I even journal with him even though he is just 4 years old. I want him to be able to look back on a full and interesting life. In the process, I find myself being able to recall our history together better than I have any other time in my life. It's something I actually focus on now so that in my very old age I'll have good memories.
Welcome back!

Yes, so strange that so many people had parents that converted when they were 5 yrs old!
I was a born in kid so didn't celebrate until the past few years. But my parents did try to make that time of year special. Their anniversary was in November so we usually had a little party and presents. Over the years we moved on to having the JW sanctioned "family day" once a year and would have a big party along with presents for all.
Christmas was almost always fun because we went skiing on that day with tons of people that we knew. We had a lot of fun ski trips as we are close to several several ski resorts. The big excitement was always which one we were going to pick and who would be there. I was in the midst of my teenage years and spent many a day on the slopes trying to accidentally meet up with my current crush

So good it will make your brains fall out...
by Gregor inget a tub of fresh chicken livers.
rinse, dry with a paper towel and dredge them in a beaten egg and roll them in bread crumbs mixed with some garlic and onion salt, paprika, black pepper and a little chili powder.. fry them in about a 1/2 inch of hot oil to a nice golden brown (the liver cooks before the batter browns so don't worry about raw liver).
drain and cool.

My mom always teases me because I refuse to put any organ meat into my turkey gravy. Whoops...they just slipped right out and down the garbage disposal!

YOUR DAILY JOURNAL
by compound complex indear friends,.
much of what we do on a daily basis is routine and of no particular, earth-shaking importance.
however, after reviewing letters of family going back to wwii, it is fascinating to read what dad was doing on board the aircraft carrier in the pacific on any old day, what mom was cooking on her ever-steaming range, how i was dealing with the roller coaster of emotion at bethel [mom saved all my letters], how nana wrote that she would not study with the witnesses [per my request] but 'here are some mittens i knitted for you when you canvass new york with your magazines.

Today was my son's 4th Birthday AND his party.
Can I just say how much I love throwing parties for him? I was kind of reluctant to do so even for his first birthday until some friends talked me into it. After that I haven't looked back!
We had a great time despite a few hiccups. His theme this year (which he held to no matter how many times I tried to offer other suggestions) was Diego from Go, Diego, Go! Also known as the Cousin to Dora from Dora The Explorer!
I stayed up WAY too late last night (I'm a terrible procrastinator - a nasty habit that I'm constantly working on) getting things ready. I had Christmas decorating to finish a PLUS party decorations to put up. My house looks very funny right now with Xmas everywhere (even in the bathroom) and then there is this little island of orange and blue and all things Diego in the dining room.
I hung streamers all across my son's bedroom door so when he walked out of his room as a big 4 year old this morning he would have to kind of paw his way through. It worked! I even got it all on video :)
He only had two guests this year and one of them had to leave within 20 minutes of arriving! The mom thought her daughter might be sick and called me beforehand but I told them to come anyway as she is the type to call and warn me if her kids have a sniffle. After they arrived, we ended up taking the little one's temp only to discover it was at 101.4. Yikes! The parents scooped up the kids and were out the door like it was an emergency evacuation!
The other guest and parent were an hour and 10 minutes late! So we kind of twiddled our thumbs until they arrived. Major note to self...invite at least 4 kids next year!
We made it through the phone call from the JW grandparents. It was comical listening to them skirt around the "happy birthday" stuff, just telling him how great it was that he was four and he is a big boy now. I do appreciate them calling and hope he understands when he is older that they love him very much despite some of their "weird beliefs!"
But we had a blast in the end. I made pancakes with a "toppings bar" and let everyone doctor up their "cakes" with their choice of syrups, whip cream, walnuts, chocolate chips, blueberries, bananas, etc. We all played "Pin the Spot on the Jaguar", the kids wore Jaguar masks and chased each other around for awhile, we opened presents and checked them all out.
We sang Happy Birthday and let my son blow out 4 candles plus one more for good luck. I figure you can always use some good luck in the following year PLUS your wish!
We ended the day with a trip to see the Bee Movie as a family and completely enjoyed it. Although I think I'm putting us all on a cleansing program tomorrow to purge our systems of all the sugar and other stuff we usually do not consume in such quantities!
And finally I successfully made it through the day without any major issues, unlike my post-Thanksgiving emotional meltdown. I definitely had some twinges of sadness here and there throughout the day but stayed focused on creating a happy and wonderful day for my son and keeping hope that someday my parents will see the light.
