Can you choose which elders you wish to deal with ?
by JH inlets say that there are 4 elders in your congregation, and you don't like 1 of them, don't trust another one, but like the 2 other ones for some reason.
now lets say that the elders you don't like that much come over and want to speak to you, would they respect you if you said, "i prefer to talk to the 2 other elders instead".
i get along with them better than you guys.. i compare this to a store.

Are elders more "pure" than the other JW's ?
by JH ini always considered elders like "cops" in the congregation, looking into other people's business and looking for faults.
they give the impression that they are pure and do no wrong and by the fact, they can judge others and counsel them.. i'd love to turn the tide around and find out about their faults and sins.. .

SPOT ON.......they are policmen, and they pick and look at at faults of their imperfect brothers sadly who are trying to live up to unloving impossible doctrines that the society dishes up. The elders are the biggest hypocrites of all.

JW funerals
by bally ini'm currently doing a major work for my final year of high school on funeral music and how religion impacts upon it.
specifically, in one part of the work i intended to focus on those religions who have guidelines about what should and should not be played at funerals.
when i was reading through surveys i handed out, one young girl who is a jehovah's witness mentioned that there are certain guidelines for the music played at funerals, but she didn't expand on what.

A lot of witness funerals have music, mainly favorites of the deceased, ones they loved from the Sings Praises to Jehovah song book. Usually these songs are sung by all attending.
I have been to a few witness funerals and always they have chosen the songs.
At my mothers funeral (she wasn't a witness, but was studying before she died) we played Kingdom songs in the background.
Cheers

There are children on both sides of this mess. Do what you think is best for you're children because it is they that will be the most hurt out of all this.
She sounds like she is skewed up and you sound no better. If you are in a lovless marriage think of a way of dealing with seperation with the minimal effect on you're children.
She needs to consider her actions as well, but you can't live her life and vis versa, but you can and should get out of the square and do what will be least painful for you're innocent children.

JWs vs. Jesus Christ
by R.F. inchoosing life made a statement in another thread saying that just mentioning jesus too much will get you a concerned look from other jws.
i thought "oh how true that is!
" the thing that is intriguing to me is the fact jws are so quick to state that they are the closest thing to first century christianity.

I wonder how Jesus would feel taking glory from Jehovah. John 17:3 Acts4:12

Removing Apostate Lies from the Internet with Legal Action...why not?
by Gill inif a lot of the negative experiences and comments about the watchtower bible and tract society and jehovah's witnesses on the internet really was all apostate lies, surely the wt society would have a legal right to take such supposed slanderers to court and sue to have the information removed.. they were able to remove quotes site just for repeating what they themselves had said.
why do they not take the same action with regard to information they insist is just apostate lies?.

the org is in to deep they can't change to much, they have already allowed blood fractions, imagine if the said that blood was now ok (transfusions) there would be a mass exit, and heaps would sue them for lose of family. NO they can't change that.
It so easy to convince one's self of doing the right thing even though they know deep down they are not, ( Rom 2:15) otherwise they would not have allowed fractions.

The last district assembly (2006) they talked about apostates on the net, and had a brother sitting down with a lap top surfing the net, and coming across sites similar and they said as soon as you come across these sites don't let you're curiosity get the best of you imediatley ignore it, he also expessed the spiritual danger that apostate sites have, and said that the things that were said about the society were ALL lies.
No doubt there are ones that do make up lies and stories, but overall there is a lot of truth not ALL are lies and substancial proof to that is found on the net, that is why they are having such a hard time in keeping those that want to be educated informed away from the net and the damaging truth on it.

Because there are to many with life experiences, to many with the same story, to many that have done their research from sites on the net (or library) that speak truth, they can't sue truth, because the truth won't set them free.
