  Wondering whether or not to join the Air Force

  i'm new here and i have some questions about joining the air force or not.

  i'm 21 years old, i was raised as a jehovah's witness but stopped going when i was 13 because i was a kid and thought it was boring (like school).

  even after i quit going i still done things that were right or i tried to still live by what i was taught and i'm greatful that i was raised that way because it kept me out of a lot of trouble and made me who i am today.

  First, pay no attention to Fred Hall. He is an illiterate jackass who is depriving some village of its idiot.

  More to the point, I think you should understand why people join cults; and Jehovah's Witnesses are indeed a cult, a cult by any definition of the word.

  People join cults when they feel that they have somehow ruined their own lives. So in order to feel better about themselves, they turn over their "ruined" lives to something bigger, huge in fact; they submerge themselves into a cult that claims to have an infallible leader and who holds out an extravagant hope. And you know that the witnesses do exactly that.

  To find out all about cults and why people join them and what they are really like and the psychology behind your desire to join, read the book "The True Believer" by Eric Hoffer. You'll discover all you need to know about cults in that very little book. You can get it at the library, or buy yourself a copy for about five or six bucks.

  I wish I had joined the Navy when I was 18. But I was still in the JWs when I was 18. If I had done that, I would have been retired now and would have had a far, far better life than I've had.

  I can honestly say that 95% of the pain in my life has come as the result of my association with Jehovah's Witnesses. Don't ruin your life like I did. Get away from them as fast as you can. Don't you realize that the witnesses have been making various prophecies for over a hundred years, and that NOT ONE of their prophecies has ever come true. NOT ONE. Check out what is said about that at Deut. 18:20-22. And then think carefullly about dedicating your life to an organization that Jehovah himself has condemned.

  Do something good for yourself. Join the Air Force. Help protect the most powerful beacon of freedom the world has ever known. Now THAT is a great cause to which you can attach yourself with pride and confidence.

  Make us all proud.

  Proof Please!

  the other day someone made a reference to "mountainous" proof of the existence of an historical jesus.. refusing to suffer fools gladly, the poster was challenged to produce this "mountain" and i haven't heard a peep of it - not that i'm surprised.

  a bb friend with whom i carry on a regular private correspondence reminded me of this challenge, and i was wondering if the "mountain" or even a hillock is ever going to be forthcoming?

  You can point to as many vague references by historians as you like. There are millions of people just south of the border named Jesus this very day. But that's still not the point of Rex claim is it?

  You can have all the faith you want. I have it too. But let's stick to the point of the challenge.

  Secret Posters Hedging Their Bets?

  since i found sites like this on the internet i have been constantly amazed at the great number of people who post here and yet do this in secret.. so many people seem to be trapped in a situation where they desperately want to leave the jw religion behind.

  so many people seem to be unable to do so for fear of losing their families, fearing that a da'ing or df'ing decree will separate them from the people that they love.

  some posters are even elders and ministerial servants.. so, can you guys tell me how you manage to lead a life that is so complex?

  When I asked it of myself 25 years ago, the answer was that it was much better to get the hypocrites out in the open. And you know what? Those real friends I had in the Borg are still friends today. And I don't care about the others.

  The Name Jehovah

  please can someone shed light on the claim that when the bible was originaly written it had the name jehovah in it over 7000 times but it was changed because of superstition?

  how do you dispute it?

  exactly where did they get that crazy version of their bible anyway?

  Actually, my research indicates that the YAH part of YAH VEY, when understood as a reflexed ablative with transgendered hiatal romulation, is pronounced OY.

  Thus, God's name is acutally pronounced Oy Vey.

  if the borg don't have the truth....who does?.

  a question i've been pondering since learning of the deceiptfull ways of the borg.

  once one has the "knowledge" of good and bad, as it were, that the borg are/have lied to its followers, been deceiptfull, misused others quotations to suit thier purpose, and misapplied them, as so very well brought to us by maximus{which by the way, max, have you posted your story anywhere on the forum?

  Couldn't agree more that it's an individual thing. If it is true that all who are led by the spirit of god are the children of god, then the trick is to get in touch with your father. that's an individual effort. i think i've made some progress in the technique, but i'm expecting to remain a seeker. I'd like to share with you though.
